Really like this book. Can’t wait to read the second part of this serie.
ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING!!!
Freaking unbelievable! This dynamic duo broke the mold, hid the pieces, then remade it in titanium. If you’re looking for one non-stop, action packed, fast paced, hard hitting, pulse racing, page flipping bombshell that grips you so tightly on a razors edge catapulting this baby to life spectacularly. Congratulations my friends you’ve struck the motherload. One totally engaging, mesmerizing, enthralling wonder that captures your attention from start to finish. Sparks fly as perilous drama, contrived mishaps, inadvertent events with nerve racking danger and electrifying suspense blow this baby wide open. The characters are authentic, approachable and realistic with such depth and individuality it flows along fluidly without a glitch. The secondary characters are animated and relatable and blend smoothly with the primary. The scenes are so vividly detailed and descriptive it gives the illusion you were along for the ride. Remarkable job guys, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
The definition of a “no brainer” is something that takes little or no brain to figure out. Well, when you have two favorite authors collaborate on a book or series, it’s a no brainer that’s it will be great. That’s certainly the case with J.A. Armitage and Claire Luana’s The Sorcery Trial, which is the first book in their new The Faerie Race series. Jacqueline Cunningham (Jacq) is really perfect for the lead here, and using The Faerie Race as the vehicle to find her sister is ideal (and the same is really true of the whole concept of that sort of deadly race in the fae realm: reality TV has nothing on this). Add in a superbly exciting and wonderfully written plot filled with a great supporting cast and the result is exactly the pure enjoyment anticipated. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
A lot has happened, getting into the race. The training, picking your partner and going through the first trial. Danger everywhere. It gets more and more dangerous the further you go. Good story, fast paced and things are happening so fast that the story flies by. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
There simply aren’t words to describe the story high I experienced (and am still having nearly two months later) from this! It was brilliant. The scenery and tasks were beautifully designed and the character arcs had me at their mercy. I LOVED Jacq and Orin is such a diamond in the rough. There was action, romance, deception, and surprises around every corner. I don’t typically watch reality TV or go for similar things but I could exist on this series! It’s easily one of my top reads this year! It’s The Amazing Race meets Faery with a dash of Survivor and a dragon!!
What an amazing epic story so far!!!
Wow just wow! It’s non stop action adventure. Full of surprises and twists. I love stories about the Fae!! This one by far is definitely becoming one of my favorites! The main character Jacq is super kickass. She is strong and no matter how hard things get she doesn’t give up. And despite being in a race against other teams who could careless about her she is willing to help others. She’s so brave and fearless! I am really hoping that she and Orin will end up together. They would be a perfect couple! This story leaves me wanting to know what happens next so badly. That’s how good it is! I highly recommend this as a must read! I am so looking forward to finding out what happens next!!!
A great beginning to this series. Full of action, adventure, danger and mystery. Such suspense really grabs you in and I was hooked from the very beginning. The authors created a wonderful world and great characters. I love Jacq’s character, she is not only fierce but also strong, smart, athletic, determined and even without magic she is more than capable of keeping up. As she unravels the mystery of her missing sister and two contestants, the mystery surrounding Orin is slowly coming to light. His need to win this competition is just as great. The many interesting twist throughout this story is an excellent way to keep us coming back for more. I look forward to the next installment.
I really enjoyed this book. I actually read it twice. This isn’t your every day average fairy tale. In this one, the MC is desperate to find her sister at any cost. So she enters the race and finds herself the center of attention inadvertently. Jacq is teamed up with a super scary dude but she is determined. There is heart-pounding action, a bit of flirting, LOTS of danger, and what book wouldn’t be complete without betrayal? It’s such an awesome book. I can’t wait for the next one. I NEED to know what happens!!!! Definitely 5 stars and 2 thumbs way way up!!
YA fantasy adventure read that’s an eclectic mix of Hunger Games, Amazing Race, Harry Potter, and a dash of Twilight. Entertaining with a decent writing flow.
This intrigued me to read it because of how unique it sounded. I was not disappointed either once I got into it this one sucked me in to claim me for the duration of the story. It also has a bit of mystery along with the theme that has you searching for clues and the answers. The Fae are interesting with their own rules with each author I read having their own spin. This one is a good beginning to a very promising series. It also has high action that has you on edge along with Jacq that you want to know what is around the corner. I hope I do not miss that one.
Exciting, entertaining and totally gripping! I’m loving this plot – the reality show, like the Amazing Race, but with Fae and other species, with magic and paranormal elements, and with mystery and intrigue. Jacq’s strength, honor, caring, and overall morality shine brightly and make it impossible for me not to incessantly root for her. I’m loving watching her grow and find her way through all the trials. I’m super curious about her personal mission to find her sister, as well, so the unfolding of that mystery is gripping and keeping me entirely invested in the future of this series. And Orin.. he is way more than I thought he’d be. He’s turning into a character I really care about and now I find myself rooting not only for him as Jacq’s partner, but for him to achieve his personal goal, too!
Honestly, I know the next parts of this series continue to be released just a couple weeks apart, but I can hardly wait! I really want to continue with this series now so I can find out what is going to happen!
Blessed Fairy Dust….That was incredible! I was totally sucked into this story! I absolutely love the characters, especially Jacq & Orin, who are perceived as worthless. And there’s a few characters that I will keep my opinions to myself.
The storyline is is down right magical and amazing. I couldn’t help reading it from start to finish once I started reading it!
And the world building, oh my goodness! It’s intricate, powerful and intriguing! I can’t wait to read the next book!!!
OMG this is just awesome! From the very start I was hooked and on the Edge of my seat, I’m amazed I have any nails left at all after reading this fast paced read filled with trials, traps and tests! Well written this is action packed with twists you will not see coming and I loved Jacq the female mc and cannot wait to read more in this series! A fantabulous start!
The Sorcery Trial is about a reality TV show in which six humans and six fae compete in a race in the Faerwild to win money and a boon from the fae king. Our main character Jacq is a “gofer” for the production company, who is determined to get to the Faerwild to find her sister who went missing a couple years ago.
The characters are very well developed and the plot pulls you in. I couldn’t stop reading as it is fast paced and you just need to find out what happens next or how a scene plays out and so on. I highly recommend this book if you liked The Hunger Games as it reminds me of that but worse because in the Faerie Race the objective is not to be the loan surviving team, but to be the team to win the race while surviving the obstacles, magic, and creatures of Faerwild while surviving what the other competitors throw as well as they are all out to win no matter what the costs. I’m eager to see what happens next and how the interactions between Jacq and Orin unfold as well was what is Cass’s role going to be.
A race in the fae world pitting six teams (each with a human and a fae). Televised in both worlds, the teams will compete against each other, in grueling conditions, traps, dangerous situations, and possible injury or even death. The prize for each team: lots of money and a wish granted by the Faerie King. Jacqueline has to win so that she can get her sister back, who was taken three years ago by a Fae and never returned. Her partner Orin, is the last person she wanted to be paired with. In the trials he was anti-social, gruff, and selfish. But Orin has demons of his own, and a life-saving wish granted to him if he wins. She wanted the faerie king’s son, who seemed to like her and wanted to help. But in this race you can’t trust anyone. Friends are enemies, and the person you think is the worst, might just be your best ally and friend.
To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book. However, I found myself quite enjoying every minute of it. Right away, I was drawn in the book and was swept away with Jacq and the contestants as they went on their quest to win the trial. I loved the set-up, and I loved the trial from beginning to end. The writing was superb although I would like a tad more description of what’s going on around Jacq, the characters were intriguing, and I loved how things changed throughout the book (no spoilers!). I am eagerly waiting for the next book as I can’t wait to see what they will face next! I highly recommend this book! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.
This a phenomenal beginning to what promises to be an exciting and intriguing adventure! I can not wait to find out what happens next! Jacq is a seriously impressive character!
I was immediately drawn to root for Jacq. I even tried to give her advice and warnings, but there must have been a magical barrier blocking my messages. She wouldn’t ignore me, would she?
I loved this story and anxiously await the next.
Omg, I Loved This Book!!
If you’re looking for a book full of magic, intrigue, backstabbing, potential romance & conspiracies then you’ve found it in this excellent series opener!!
It became public knowledge about 10 years prior, that Fae were real & lived in a realm connected to Earth Jacqueline, Jacq, Cunningham has made her way to L.A. as she wants eventually become a Stuntwoman! She made the move after her sister disappeared, with a Fae!! After over a year of investigations no leads were ever found. Jacq had to get away or she’d have driven herself with her heart break!!

Its going to be a brutal race. There will be 6 teams of 2, one Human & one Fae on each team. Java asks if she enter but isn’t allowed. She desperately wants to get into their Realm to look for sister, Cass! Once the race starts they’re all in for a rude awakening about just how dangerous & deadly this TV Show actually is!! This has wonderful characters, world building & plotting – I was totally immersed in Jacq’s world

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
This is the first book that I have read by these authors.
This is the first in a trilogy, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The book is really well written and the way the characters interact with each other throughout the book is brilliant.
The book is fast paced that you’ll be so immersed that you’ll forget the time and if you’re anything like me a few meals
I absolutely love the main character Jacq and her struggle with fae and magic, and how to unlock the magic within when she hates it because of how she feels that magic and a fae kidnapped her sister Cass.
And also her struggle with her growing feelings for Orin and what to do about them.
I for one can’t wait to read the whole trilogy and see where the trial ends.
I definitely recommend this book
