Welcome to The Faerie Race—an epic adventure through a realm as compelling as it is deadly… sister—who vanished without a trace into the faerie world two years ago. Jacq thought getting into the race would be the hard part. But she didn’t count on the other competitors—who will stop at nothing to finish first. Or her distractingly-handsome jerk of a partner, who seems to be hiding secrets of his own.
Plunged into a world where everything wants to kill her, what starts as a hunt for the truth turns into a desperate contest for survival. Now that Jacq’s in the race, it will take all her wits to make it to the finish line alive.
The Sorcery Trial is Book One in The Faerie Race, a nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride through a realm unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Scroll up and one-click to start the adventure!

What an intriguing premise for a new series!! Faerie has revealed itself to the world at large and now everyone is chomping at the bit to have a chance to enter their world. It is pretty much forbidden so very few have ever seen it so when a new t.v. show is announced where there will be a competition to see who will win with the entire thing happening in Faerie itself plus an added prize as well. Jacq is dying to go but since she works for the show it is forbidden. At least it is until events make it happen taking us on the adventure known as the first trial. Well written with some fascinating world building that really draws you in. I cannot wait for book two! I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Take “The Great Race” reality show, mix it with the “Lost” series and toss with copious amounts of magic and the result is something like “The Sorcery Trial”. I was expecting the usual Buffy-wanna-be heroine, but the authors have given us a teen-age Eve Dallas with a touch of Hermione Granger. The main characters (by which I mean Jacq and Orin) come alive to us bit by bit as they open up to each other with snippets of their pasts and motivations amidst the cutting banter. So they passed the Sorcery Trial – what happens next?
I received this ARC from The Enchanted Quill and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Best adventure ever!
I love this book so much that made my mom read it
I loved it!
Exiting. Good teenage race story, with plenty of action. Loved the well thought out characters, and the heroine’s thirst for doing what is right. Look forward to the rest of the series.
Imagine The Amazing Race with humans and fairies competing, and you’ve got the basic idea of The Sorcery Trial. This was a fun, action packed adventure.
IT WAS GOOOOOD!!!! It’s been a few years since I read it but I do remember that it was worth reading again!! which I definitely did!! The heroine of the story was new to the world of magic and was tossed into the competition that was a fight or die situation. If it’d been me I’d have died of FRIGHT!!! There was some excellent romantic parts which got hotter with each book. I HIGHLY recommend this series !! I loved it.
I absolutely do not like books that end without resolution. I did not know this book only covers the first part of race.
Great read. Interestingly enough that I bought the follow-up books
What a great story. As a rule I’m usually not a fan of reality shows but this story is one of the few exceptions.
The story is told in the first person and very engaging. We follow one young girl in her quest through a reality show program in an attempt to save/bring back her sister.
This is only the 1st part of a 3 part contest/race/challenge she will have to go through wile trying to learn magic and deal with her feelings, her reckless courage and a conspiracy that can turn to be more than she sign up for. I hope I’ve got your attention without giving to much away.
The story it truly great and very well written. You will love it and like me crave for more.
I have no idea when I downloaded this book to my Kindle (as so often happens with me, unfortunately) but I wish I hadn’t waited so long to read it!
The first of a trilogy, I got sucked in fast and hard to the paranormal world built here. A cross between the Hunger Games and the Amazing Race, the reality TV show featured in this book has true dangers and a lot of action. I’m also always a fan of strong heroines and grumpy men 😉 I devoured this book like a hungry dragon and I can’t wait to read more and see where it leads.
I love females in stories that aren’t afraid to get down and dirty and this story has that in Jacq. She s ready to help when needed even at the expense of winning the race. Okay she’s a little impulsive and runs headfirst into danger without thought to the consequences. Her hearts in the right place and yet she is all over the place. It may have started a little slow but it’s definitely not missing action. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Love this author’s style and never know what to expect next.
I binged this trilogy in two days. This series was like The Amazing Race meets the Hunger Games with a faerie twist.. Good cast of characters and non-stop action-adventure. The studio Jacq works for decides it needs a big win in the ratings and puts together the first ever Fantastic Faerie Race. Jacq wants to be one of the contestants not for the big prize payout but because she believes her sister’s disappearance has something to do with the fae and this is her chance to find answers. Getting into the games may have been a whole lot easier than making it alive though, especially when she’s saddled with the moody fae, Orin, as her partner. The game becomes more deadly with each leg of the journey through the fantastical landscape of Faerwild but the obstacles set by the game makers are the least of her problems because someone has designs on using the contestants for their own diabolical plans.
Can I start off by saying this would make a fantastic series! I felt like a was watching a movie in my mind while reading this. Its absolutely fantastic. There is not one boring section in here, no lull in the action.
The characters are not who they seem at first glance, nothing it.
Can not wait to read the next one!
Jacqueline Cunningham is looking for her sister that disappeared into the faerie realm two years ago. She has been looking for a way to enter the faerie world ever since and now she may just have found her way in by entering The Faerie Race a reality TV show. If she can get in the race and win then her winning prize would be whatever she wishes.
Becoming a contestant in The Faerie Race was not as hard as Jacq was anticipating but the trials in the race are way more dangerous than she ever assumed they would be. Every contestant is out to win at any cost even if it means someone’s life. Can Jacq make it through the trials? Can she make it through the race alive?
The Sorcery Trial will keep you on your toes with twists in each trial leaving you wanting more and more. Each trial requires more than being strong and fast physically but mentally as well. The Sorcery Trial keeps the adrenaline pumping with Jacq racing through each trial trying to stay alive and helping other contestants along the way.
I highly recommend The Sorcery Trial to all fans of fantasy.
This is incredible storytelling at it’s best! Vivid characters that are in a race for humans and fae to prove who is the best for a television show. A hometown girl Jacq, and a fae Orin, was teamed up for this battle. Jacq’s sister was taken by a fae many years ago and she thought this would be a way to get her back home. The quest to win gets dangerous and some contestants gets killed. What an interesting book, you just can’t put it down! Now,where’s the next one?
The Sorcery Trial is Book 1 in The Faerie Race series. We have a unique story line in a reality show race. I love Jacq, our main character who is very determine not only to be a participant in the race but also to win it. She sees this as a chance to get into the Fae realm in order to find her sister who disappeared two plus years earlier. Jacq has a Fae partner, Orin who also wants to win and has issues of his own and is a total jerk. This is a fast-paced Page-turning adventure with lots of action and twists/turns that will leave you wanting more. The world building and character development are phenomenal. These two authors have created an awesome book. Am anxiously waiting for the next in series. I highly recommend this book. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.
The Sorcery Trial by J.A. Armitage is well written with a good flow to the storyline. I enjoyed the character development and seeing the characters grow into their strengths and acknowledge their weaknesses. This genre is not my usual read, but it only took a few pages to get me totally hooked.
Take the reality show Amazing Race, mix in some Hunger Games and add members of a world where everything, including water, trees and more have magic and may kill you. Now, you’ll be getting close to the scenario of this story. A televised race with one fae and one human on a team in Faerwild. This is a race filled with duplicity mystery, intrigue, maybe even murder.
Jacqueline Cunningham lost her sister two years ago when she disappeared with a Faerie, most likely into the faerie world. She’s never given up looking for a way to find her sister and this Race may just be the way for Jacq to enter Faerwild and look for her sister.
Jacq’s strength of character and honor will have you cheering for her. Her team faerie partner Orin, is her direct opposite. He’s there to win and Jacq had better not hold him up. He’s so dark and brooding, Jacq is uncomfortable in his presence, he obviously has demons haunting him.
I can’t help but give five stars for this first in a series fantasy story with great plot developments and many twists and turns that keep the pages turning. Will Jacq and Orin manage to get over their differences enough to win the Race? Will some romance develop in the future? Must read on!
I received a copy of this story from the author and the above is my voluntary and honest review.
Excellent story–think reality TV, The Amazing Race, mixed with magic and faeries. It makes for a fast paced story, with great characters, and lots of action and adventure. Highly recommended. I can’t wait to read the next in series.
