** This book is a STANDALONE novel featuring characters that were introduced in The Law of Moses. It is not a sequel, but it is a spin-off, and it is recommended that The Law of Moses be read first.**
I won my first fight when I was eleven years old, and I’ve been throwing punches ever since. Fighting is the purest, truest, most elemental thing there is. Some people describe heaven as a sea of … a sea of unending white. Where choirs sing and loved ones await. But for me, heaven was something else. It sounded like the bell at the beginning of a round, it tasted like adrenaline, it burned like sweat in my eyes and fire in my belly. It looked like the blur of screaming crowds and an opponent who wanted my blood.
For me, heaven was the octagon.
Until I met Millie, and heaven became something different. I became something different. I knew I loved her when I watched her stand perfectly still in the middle of a crowded room, people swarming, buzzing, slipping around her, her straight dancer’s posture unyielding, her chin high, her hands loose at her sides. No one seemed to see her at all, except for the few who squeezed past her, tossing exasperated looks at her unsmiling face. When they realized she wasn’t normal, they hurried away. Why was it that no one saw her, yet she was the first thing I saw?
If heaven was the octagon, then she was my angel at the center of it all, the girl with the power to take me down and lift me up again. The girl I wanted to fight for, the girl I wanted to claim. The girl who taught me that sometimes the biggest heroes go unsung and the most important battles are the ones we don’t think we can win.

When all these people say “you should read an Amy Harmon book” this is what they are talking about. It helped that I was able to listen to this book and Zachary Webber was my Tag, but this book spoke to me. The song of David. It was beautiful even after the last note was played. It was an emotional ride and I will have a nice hangover, but it was so worth it. What a love story, not just with Millie and Tag but also between Tag and Moses. Remember, there is no “I” in Tag Team.
Second in The Law of Moses series, The Song of David is the story of MMA fighter, David (Tag) Taggert, an adrenaline junkie who lives for his time in the ring.
That is until he meets Millie.
Millie Anderson wasn’t born blind, but it’s all she remembers. After her father walked away from the family and her mother passed away, Millie is left to raise her younger brother, Henry, a sensitive young teen on the autism spectrum. Millie takes a job as a pole dancer in a local bar owned by Tag, and so their relationship begins.
The story opens with the disappearance of Tag. Frightened, Millie calls his best friend, Moses (from The Law of Moses) and they find a box of cassettes Tag created for Millie- a journal of their relationship and his growing love for the Anderson Siblings.
I’d never met anyone like her, yet I felt like I’d known her forever. And since the moment I’d looked down into her face and felt that jolt of ode-to-joy-and-holy-shit, I’d been falling, falling, falling…
The Song of David- Amy Harmon
Just when Tag is about to declare his feelings, a crisis occurs that turns his world upside down. Knowing Millie’s caring nature, he decides it’s best if he disappears from her life before he hurts her.
Talking to God felt a little like having a conversation with myself, the inner me. I’d always believed God created that inner me, so talking to him was a bit like having a heart to heart with myself. No, I don’t have a God complex. I just think most people make too big a deal about God, fighting wars to defend him or staging protests to deny him. He just seems like a good guy to me. I like talking to him.
The Song of David- Amy Harmon
There are so many magical moments in this book; such as when David takes Millie to listen to the Tabernacle Choir and the simple joy of flying kites. She teaches him to slow down and listen, really listen.
You can’t see a song. You feel a song, you hear a song, you move to it. Just like I can’t see you, but I feel you, and I move toward you. When you’re with me, I feel like I glimpse a David nobody else knows is there. It’s the Song of David, and nobody else can hear it but me.”
The Song of David- Amy Harmon
The POV told through the cassette tapes is both intimate and heart-wrenching. There’s moments when I couldn’t go on because it was just too hard. Yes, this book is that good.
Amy Harmon is truly a must-read author. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!
This was a gritter novel then the other Harmon books I have read. Tag is a tough guy who runs a bar and Millie is a pole dancer. Not your typical hero and heroine at least not for me. I loved the writing and the love story. This is a tear your heart out book that is beautifully written. It is important that you read Law of Moses first.
Violence: A bar fight, a cage fight and both have detail.
Language: There is an F word, a spattering of other words. No religious words used as swear words. There is some crude sexual comments.
Sex: There is a couple of sex scene before marriage, these are not too detailed more sensual then sexual if that makes sense. There is descriptions of dancing, and sexual innuendo is used.
A rejuvenated story of David and the Goliath. David is battle weary, down on his knees, overpowered and overwhelmed. His spirit has taken a beating, his body worn and tired, yet his pillars refuse to let him fall. Moses is not ready to let him go down yet
“David killed Giants, Giants didn’t kill David” .
A story about triumph of human spirit, strength of unconditional love and brotherly bonds thicker than blood.
Sometimes the most important battles are the ones we don’t think we can win
Nothing in this life, worth having, is free. The harder the battle, the sweeter the win. That’s what separates men from champions. One such champion fighter is David “Tag” Taggert. He never backs down from a fight. In fact he goes looking for one for the sheer enjoyment of it. He’s struggled throughout with his demons, running from himself ever since Molly went missing. He along with Moses have roamed the world like tumbleweed and now is the time to set roots and set up his own legacy. He creates his own family #TagTeam
We were young, we were lonely, we were lost, and I didn’t want to be found. I wanted to run to the ends of the earth and make the dead chase me.
He’s a rescuer by nature. A salvager of lost souls. This Rag Tag group makes his backbone, his strength and they’d take a bullet for each other.
“Bullshit. You collect lost causes and charity cases like old, white women collect cats. You rescued me. You rescued Axel and Cory and even that piece of shit Morgan, who thinks he’s doin’ you a favor by managing your bar. You call it Tag Team, but you should call it rag tag team. You rescue everyone. You have an invisible cape. You’ve been wearing it your whole life.”
But he bumps into a girl who doesn’t need to be saved….just LOVED. And Tag doesn’t know how to. The girl is blind yet sees him, warts an all. She challenges him and relaxes him, and he’s falling so fast, trying to put brakes on this slippery slope.
“Because kissing a blind girl is like stealing from a beggar or lying to a priest, don’t you know? Like hitting a child or drowning a kitten? It’s one of those unpardonable sins.”
I’ve rarely come across such a “clear sighted” brave heroine like Amelie Anderson.
Silly Millie is Steel Millie in my opinion. This girl has unshakeable faith, uncontested loyalty and endless capacity for compassion. And she loves completely.
“Muhammed Amelie,”
“Floats like a butterfly . . .”
“Stings like a bee,”
Her lack of sight is a boon in disguise because she can see with her heart, touch with her senses and listen with her soul. Her adoration is not shallow but a deep connection.
“You can’t see a song. You feel a song, you hear a song, you move to it. Just like I can’t see you, but I feel you, and I move toward you. When you’re with me, I feel like I glimpse a David nobody else knows is there. It’s the Song of David, and nobody else can hear it but me.”
The story had me completely spellbound. It flowed at perfect pace, never straying from the central plot. Characters were enthralling. Henry stole the show!! I wanted to hug him, cradle him, protect him. Most endearing and pure of heart, he’s tough one to be won over and easy to fall in love with. Gentle soul and utterly adorable.
David is a fighter, strong, generous and protective. Amelia is like a delicate flower, growing in the shade yet her personality is aglow with her goodness. I could feel her aura in the pages.
I’ve yet to come across Amy’s book that I hasn’t had me enamoured. She’s a prolific writer with unique stories written in her exemplary style. She pays great attention to minute details and a complex character with disability is never lacking in authenticity, at any point. Her research shows in thoroughness and diligence and I hope to make my way through her entire library one fabulous book at a time
5 stars for Taggertsons!!

This book was so sad and beautiful at the same time, I loved it so much, Amy Harmon is definitely one of the best romance authors I’ve had the pleasure to read.
This is the story of David who is a strong fighter and a business man, and it’s narrated from different points of view, in this book, the heroine is a blind and brave woman that against all odds conquers and tames wild David, but there is a very hard battle they must win in order to be together.
This is a must read.
Absolutely loved this book. Great storytelling and superb plot. Kept me interested in the characters throughout the entire book. Highly recommend!
One of the best books I’ve ever read. Highly recommended. Love the characters. Still think about it. Will reread.
5 Tag Team Stars!!
When I saw that David aka Tag had his own book, I knew I would dive into it as soon as I finished The Law of Moses. Tag certainly had a story that needed to be told and what a story it was!
Millie is a super strong woman that was put on earth to have Tag as a partner. So strong, she was the fuel that Tag needed to continue living.
It wasn’t an easy road to admit the feelings for each other. It wasn’t a given for Tag. He knew that once he admitted to having feelings, he would no longer be able to ‘tap out’ and move on.
Why? Because Millie is the woman that every woman strives to be like. One that takes life by the horns and rides it all the way. No matter what life throws at her, Millie overcomes, adjusts and moves on like the warrior she is.
This is a very emotional story. One that will knock you down a couple notches in life when you see what others truly sacrifice to survive in doing just the simple tasks every day.
Amy Harmon has nailed it in her writing. She has written every book with thorough research yet, told in a simple way that everyone falls in love with her characters that she brings to life in every page we read. Absolutely loved The Song of David!!!

“The world was dark and you turned on the fucking light switch and now it’s so bright, I’m walking around blind.”
This book was out of this world and I am still in shock! I should’ve known TM Frazier would do something like this, I should’ve expected it but I didn’t. I have read all of her books and I love all of them. She writes the type of story that you can reread over and over again, and you will discover new things every time you read. I highlighted so many things in this book that were really essential and I don’t want to forget those small details.
“I’ll just miss you. I do miss you. I miss the way you make me feel like a person of the world, instead of a problem in it.”
Bear is one of my favorite book boyfriends. He is everything I want in a guy. He has tattoos, a beard, is protective, loyal and is the ultimate ALPHA male!! I also love Thia, she has been through a lot but came out stronger and is the perfect ride-or-die chick. There was fireworks every time Thia and Bear came together. I don’t want to go into detail too much because it would spoil the story. Thia and Bear are seperated for a while because Bear wants to protect her, because there are still people that want Bear dead.
“Bear was as beautiful as he was hard. He was as complex as he was simple. He was both the storm and the calm. The fear and the solace. The rage and the peace. My life and my love.”
I loved that King and Ray played a role in this book as well. They are amazing characters that I don’t mind reading about. The friendship between King and Bear is one of a kind. Even if they aren’t blood related they are brothers and have each other’s backs. We also become acquianted with this badass chick named Rage who was in charge of guarding Thia while Bear was gone. She has me very intrigued and I can’t wait to learn more about her. She is different in a very good way. I like characters that make you think and are mysterious. I can’t wait to see what Tracey has in store for us!
“Bear clenched his jaw and the muscles in his neck tensed and strained. he looked as if he were ready to either kill or fuck. All I knew was that, one way or another, I was about to be devoured.”
There were many plot twists in this book some of them were heartbreaking others made me very HAPPY!!! I hate saying goodbye to my favorite characters so I am hoping there will be more to come in this world! I definitely think Rage needs her story told. You won’t be disappointed with this conclusion to Bear and Thia’s story. TM Frazier keeps on delivering top notch writing and crazy unexpected twists. I am really looking forward to what she will come up with next. Make sure you pick up any of Tracey’s books, you won’t be disappointed!
I found Amy’s books not long ago, i had them on my wishlist for a while and i’m not sure why i waited so long..
her stories are very beautiful, they have so much soul and emotions.. is like every single thing the characters explain, you can feel it deep .. it is very magical and very raw and that’s exactly what makes you feel like if you were part of the story…
This is the story of Tag (David) and Millie.. Tag is Moses best friend, he had a very difficult life when he was just a kid.. he became friends with Moses in the strangest circumstances .. their friendship is strong and very solid.. Tag has been fighting for a while, he is a professional fighter.. he owns a gym and a bar and has a lot of scary friends who help and work for him.. he wanted to make his life easy so he didn’t have any attachment, he was used to go out with diffrent girls but always treat them with respect… he was a gentleman and a flirt but always had a nice word to say.. until he met her a beautiful special girl..
Millie has been living a complicated life taking care of herself and her brother.. she dances because she loves to feel free but at the same time she needs the money.. nobody knew her secret or just a few of them.. Her life revolve around her brother and her job, until she meets him… everything changed after him.. a handsome protective man, who likes taking care of whom he loves.. he is a rescuer .. but this time seems like he is the one who is about to get recued ..
what i love about the story, is how Tag and Millie fight their own demons and beliefs to be with each other.. you can see how Tag has to fight with himself, solving past and present issues.. but when the story start, you think Tag is going to be the rescuer and you think he is going to be the strongest one solving everything around him.. but then the story surprises you by showing you how Millie is the strongest one.. she is the one lifting and balancing the love, the friendship, the feelings.. she is like a grounding force to Tag and Her brother.. Millie show us how someone with a disability can be stronger than we could ever imagine..
We also get see Moses and Georgia and a lot of other great characters that helped to build this amazing world.. still find Moses and Georgia to be a great couple and friends.. they were helping Tag and Millie whenever they need them..
One of the most moving part of the story, definitely is the Friendship of Tag and Moses… specially on chapter 24 when Tag says to Moses he loves him…
looking forward to read more books By Amy..
