“Foster convincingly brings her characters to life against the idyllic backdrop of Kentucky farmland. This down-to-earth romance will especially appeal to animal lovers.”—Publishers Weekly on The Somerset GirlsNo one knows you quite like a sister… beginnings. Through it all, the ties of sisterhood will be there, guiding Autumn and Ember to the lives, and loves, they need…
When they’re running the animal-rescue farm they inherited from their grandparents, Autumn and Ember Somerset are perfectly in sync. At all other times, not so much. Dependable Autumn would rather curl up with a good book than paint the town red with Ember. After the disaster that was Autumn’s last relationship, it’s pure self-protection. But when her high school crush comes back to town with his adorable young daughter, igniting memories best left forgotten, there’s only one person Autumn can turn to…
Beneath Ember’s free-spirited facade is a layer of deep hurt. She’ll gladly nudge Autumn toward a second chance. But risk her own heart? Not likely. The closer Autumn gets to her own happily-ever-after, the more Ember wonders what she might be missing—and if it isn’t her time to be bold, too.

There is so much about this book that draws me in. There are relationships between sisters, between sisters and their parents, between father and daughter, between man and woman. Each relationship is a treat in itself, but put them all together and add a menagerie of colorful animals and you have a heartwarming love story. The back and forth banter between the protagonists is amusing, arousing and sometimes hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud on occasion. Such a fun read. I can always count on Lori to give me the warm fuzzies.
I received an ARC for my personal review.
Lori Foster has written another heartwarming novel about family dynamics, finding true love, and an animal rescue full of quirky characters. And then there is Pavlov, a redbone coonhound who watches over the entire Somerset family.
The Somerset family, parents Tracey and Flynn, and sisters Autumn and Ember, all live on a farm that serves as an animal rescue. Their hired man, Mike, lives in a loft above the barn. Autumn and Ember were so different in many ways, but where it was important they had each other’s back.
Ember is the builder, Autumn is the designer, which I thought was funny because Ember was the one who always looked perfectly made up while Autumn showed no interest in her personal appearance, preferring to dress for comfort. Ember is the party girl, with an active dating life; Autumn is the very responsible one who would rather stay at home reading one of Karen Rose’s novels and eating ice cream. When Tash Ducker moves back to town after being gone for years, Ember sees an opportunity to hook up Autumn with the man she had a crush on in high school.
I liked everything about this book, but my favorite things are Tash’s relationship with his adorable seven-year-old daughter Sadie; the way Ember and Mike danced around their mutual attraction; and the way Autumn and Ember bantered but always had each other’s back. And Pavlov, who watched over all the humans and animals on the family farm.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review.
I liked the “animal rescue” component of this story. Also, how different the sisters were & how that played into the storyline. This book was an enjoyable read!
First off I love how the sisters are so close to each other. Family takes care of family. Autumn is resigned to being alone until hunky Tash moves back into town. Autumn always had a crush on him and imagine when Tash is now looking back at her.
Tash is trying to make a new life with his daughter Sadie. He is determined to make sure Sadie knows she is loved and wanted always. Meeting Autumn now wasn’t in the cards or was it?
Autumn I immediately connects with Sadie and slowly these three become the family they all crave.
On the side you get her sister Ember and Mike’s story. Once they communicated things began to fall into place.
Lori Foster never disappoints and I always look forward to her next book
The Somerset Girls was an enjoyable read by Lori Foster. It was sweet and summery, and there were things I loved about this book. However, there were also times I was a bit bored, which is unusual for me with a Lori Foster book. I found myself reading quickly to get the story moving.
The rescue farm run by Autumn and Ember was amazing, and I loved that they worked together to be able to care for all those animals. Furthermore, the animals themselves were quite endearing, especially Pavlov.
I also enjoyed Tash’s daughter Sadie. She was such a sweet girl, and she stole my heart.
I actually wish there had been more story for Mike and Ember because those two were fire.

Such a refreshing story to read especially during the troubled we are all facing. Autumn and Ember are two sisters that each hiding behind different masks. Autumn is a workaholic and Ember portrays a party girl so they each can protect themselves from past troubles. Their family bond is strong and the love for their animal rescue farm is truly heartwarming. This is a story about overcoming fears, past hurts, and opening hearts to more than just wounded animals. Autumn open her heart and work through her past. Then and only then will she have a chance to find a future with her teenage crush Tash and his daughter Sadie. Ember is in the same sinking boat with the resident handyman Mike. The two are playing push and pull games. This is more of a women’s novel than a true romance one but didn’t lack in that department. This one pulls apt your heartstrings, makes you laugh, and smile. I really recommend this book. I received an ARC from but my review is solely based on my own honest opinions.
I want to be their sister too! This story had everything that I love in a book-family, kids, animals, second chances, sexiness and fun. Autumn and Ember are sisters that work together designing and building plus rescuing animals to live on their inherited farm. The sisters are polar opposites but love each other fiercely, which drew me and kept me riveted through the end. Two swoon-worthy men, a precocious seven year old, and two quirky parents make up the major characters who will bring you lots of smiles and “awwws”.
What a wonderful, touching and heartfelt story. Oh my! The Somerset Girls had everything my heart wanted to read. Two amazing love stories. One adorable little girl that just brought everyone together. And a farm full of some really cute animals with some pretty amazing personalities. Seriously a very feel good story that needs to be read. There is a tissue warning but in a good way. Add in some hot chemistry between both couples and a few sexy scenes that is just sigh worthy and this story is the perfect remedy for what ails you. I’m still flying high after finishing this book.
*I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book*
This book was so much fun to read! As an animal lover I truly enjoyed the story of the rescue the sisters run. A very heartwarming story of the love between two sisters. And even though they are each very different, the love between them was loud and clear. Easy to relate to and very lovable characters. Highly recommend.
Lori has done it again! I couldn’t stop reading this book!
Somerset girls was amazing! I loved all of the characters in this book! Autumn somerset and her sister ember run a animal rescue on there farm they live on. Autumn is also a designer and ember a builder. This is how autumn meets her high school crush!
Tash has moved back to his hometown to raise his daughter Sadie. Sadie has been through so much that tash is doing everything he can to make her happy. He hires ember and autumn to design and build a play house and design Sadie’s bedroom. He wasn’t looking for a woman he was only had concerns for his daughter until he spends time with autumn. Then there is ember and mikes story i loved how you get two romance in one book!
I received an advance reader copy from netgalley/harlequin and this is my honest review.
I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest opinion,
What a heartwarming story. This book embodies the great relationship between two sisters, Autumn and Ember, their relationship with their parents and love interests. We learn how their Mother’s description of Autumn as being the serious dependable one and her description of Ember as being the free spirit effect their opinion of themselves and how they deal with life. When Autumn meets former hometown high school hero when he comes back to town to live with his daughter, she learns to balance her life. Ember finally comes to realize that living her life as a free spirit will not hide the pain she has been living with for years and finally comes to terms with her pain. With this acceptance she is able to move forward and have the relationship she has always wanted with Mike. I highly recommend reading this story.
I laughed, teared, ohh and ahh while reading The Somerset Girls! I enjoyed all the characters in this awesome book but, little Sadie stoled my heart From the moment I started the book, I knew I would not want it to end! I was sad to see it end. Thanks, Lori!

*Received arc from author & Netgalley for an honest review* The Somerset Girls is another amazing book by Lori Foster who never disappoints! Autumn & Tash (& his daughter Sadie) and Ember & Mike deserved their HEA (all experienced some difficulties & heartbreaks). Lori also had me with the animal rescue & the adorable dog Pavlov!! This book had all the feels, it was funny, heartbreaking, heartwarming, emotional. Family dynamics are always interesting and this family had its issues like all families do but when it came down to it they loved each other & always were there for each other. I highly recommend this book!!!
I won a ARC and loved it!!
I want a farm with animals and a man like Tash. Loved the family, laughed with her about her parents and loved the sister. I cried when I finished, because I didn’t want it to end!!
I always look forward to a new Lori Foster novel. This one is great. She seems to be shifting from straight-up romance more towards women’s fiction. Instead of a single couple, this story revolves around two girls, the Somerset sisters, their parents and their soon-to-be significant others. I enjoy the meatier stories she has been writing lately and this book is no different.
Autumn and Ember Somerset have day jobs but their passion is the animal sanctuary they run. They inherited a farm from their grandparents and created the Fresh Start Farm animal sanctuary. They pay the bills with their jobs as home designer (Amber) and construction manager (Ember). They get along very well as working partners but they are very different people. The love between the sisters is very clear and they support each other despite being very different.
The family dynamics (in the Somerset family and in the families of Mike & Tash, their significant others) are very believable. I loved Sadie! She and the rescued animals had very real relationships. I could have read about their relationships for much longer, but the book ended in a good place and did not leave me hanging.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I read this book a few days ago and it is still resonating with me. There is nothing sexier than a good dad. Nothing. It was one of the things that attracted me so much to my husband. He was a single dad and just watching how he cared and interacted with her sealed the deal me, plus I got a huge bonus in our marriage. I got a daughter. This book hit close with Autumn and her attraction with Tash. Then little Sadie. I wanted to reach into the book and hug her.
Ember and Mike were just combustible and HOT! I love it when I read a book and just cannot put it down, except for that pesky sleep and work thing. I think this is one of the most heartfelt books that I have read in a very long time.
“The Somerset Girls: A Novel” by Lori Foster is a fantastic read. I absolutely loved reading about Autumn, Tash, Sadie, Ember, Mike, Tracy, and Flynn. This is a wonderful story, packed with entertaining characters, romance, passion, humor, family, animal rescue, and more. I sincerely hope we’ll get more from this wonderful cast of characters in the future. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, family, animal rescue, and entertaining characters.
I want to adopt this family and move to the farm. Ms. Foster has such an astute writing style and the ability to capture authentic intricacies of human relationships and makes the reader feel as if s/he is a part of the story. It is the subtle nuances that she teases out of the healthy, the stressed, the passionate, the disappointing, and the heart-felt love in each of the characters and their interactions that sets her work on a higher level. The entire journey from broken homes and broken hearts to happy ever after is never fairy tale smooth but the scenarios are believable and witty and entertaining. I’m only sad when I turn the page and realize it is the last one.
This book is inherently about Tash and Autumn, but her sister Ember finds love with their partner on the farm. I loved how smoothly we switched between the sisters, usually when character switches happen its clunky and there’s a dead stop between the characters. Lori was able to do this switch flawlessly.
Autumn is always taking care of her family and rescuing animals in need which is something i liked about this character. She also is an interior designer and works with her sister who does the building. Autumn has a huge heart and automatically takes to Tash’s daughter Sadie.
Tash moved back home after his ex-wife died leaving him with his daughter. He’s realizing that home life with his ex for his daughter wasn’t great. He has a lot of work to do to help her trust again, but with Autumn’s help they’re able to give that to her.
These characters are flawlessly written, with tep hot guys that know how to treat their women. The Somerset girls are one of the best books Lori has written. My only complaint is I wish we could have seen Ember get married too or the sisters have a double wedding.
THE SOMERSET GIRLS
The Somerset Girls is a wonderful story about the relationship between sisters and their relationship to their parents. Like most of Lori Foster’s books, this one does not disappoint. Lori has the ability to totally enmesh her readers into the lives of her characters.
Autumn and Ember run an animal rescue farm together, but also have their own businesses. Autumn is an interior designer, Ember is a building contractor. Their bond is strong, always having each other’s backs. Add Tash Ducker, a high school crush of Autumn’s into the mix and Mike Brewer, the handyman on the animal rescue farm, who has a thing for Ember and you have four great people who find their way to each other and make it work.
This story is filled with true, lasting friendships, humor, and romance. I received this ARC from NetGalley, and this is my honest review.
