“Foster convincingly brings her characters to life against the idyllic backdrop of Kentucky farmland. This down-to-earth romance will especially appeal to animal lovers.”—Publishers Weekly on The Somerset GirlsNo one knows you quite like a sister… beginnings. Through it all, the ties of sisterhood will be there, guiding Autumn and Ember to the lives, and loves, they need…
When they’re running the animal-rescue farm they inherited from their grandparents, Autumn and Ember Somerset are perfectly in sync. At all other times, not so much. Dependable Autumn would rather curl up with a good book than paint the town red with Ember. After the disaster that was Autumn’s last relationship, it’s pure self-protection. But when her high school crush comes back to town with his adorable young daughter, igniting memories best left forgotten, there’s only one person Autumn can turn to…
Beneath Ember’s free-spirited facade is a layer of deep hurt. She’ll gladly nudge Autumn toward a second chance. But risk her own heart? Not likely. The closer Autumn gets to her own happily-ever-after, the more Ember wonders what she might be missing—and if it isn’t her time to be bold, too.

Storytelling at its best! Lori Foster should be on everyone’s auto-buy list.
Lori Foster has done it again. I expected this book to be great…but it was so much more! Two sisters who love and care for each other so much, two men who are both so caring, giving and affectionate, a set of quirky parents who are still in love and love their daughters without question, a couple of exes who you just want to go after, and the strange, gossipy friend who one minute you want to throttle and the next you realize she is a good person underneath it all. Add to all this sweet little Sadie who just melts your heart and tugs at your heartstrings. This is a book you don’t want to miss.
The Somerset Girls – Autumn and Ember Somerset – is all about the relationship between the sisters, and their lives, with two alpha hunks thrown in for good measure. Where Autumn is quiet and unassuming, believing she is the “plain and uninteresting” sister, Ember is truly “out there”. Let’s say they are wrong about themselves and need to talk to one another to fix those thoughts. Each sister is hiding some big…hurts, even from themselves. The one thing that IS right between these sisters is that their bond is very strong. No matter what, they have each other’s back and will go to the mat for one another; that is their absolute truth.
How they work thru their “personal truths”, each doing some major soul searching and growing, makes for a wonderful story. Add in the “boys” and it was absolutely fascinating to read. Then add their parents – OMG, they are OUT there! – but truly are good people and loving parents. And there’s a little girl who will melt your heart, as she did mine.
To me, The Somerset Girls is more about Autumn and Ember, with wonderful stories about their lives and how they find love when and where they least expect it. I really don’t want to say more as reading and enjoying each of their journeys is what makes this book wonderful. I highly recommend you read it when you have put everything else aside so you can enjoy.
So good! I feel like most plot lines I read lately are so similar, but this was a breath of fresh air. At the start, I wondered if it was a series, but then the other characters fell into play. Absolutely loved this book!

Strong characters, sisterly conflict tempered by love, hunky guys who know what they want, an adorable little redhead with trust issues, literal pigs in mud, a dog who can’t NOT walk through an open door, and so much more. What more could a reader ask for? Seriously!

I loved this story of two sisters, each perfectly imperfect in their own ways, who are different in most ways, except the love of animals, yet still, they love each other and have each other’s backs. It’s a case of ” ℎ ℎ ℎ’ . ‘ ℎ ℎ ℎ’ .”
They are both forced to look at themselves and really “see” themselves. Through their own eyes. Once they do this, love and acceptance of who they really are will follow.
Like in all of Lori Foster’s books, these characters are “real” people that you either know or would like to know. They have all the same problems the rest of us have, yet they find their joy in whatever ways they can.
The pacing was wonderful and kept me reading for my entire cross-country flight. Such a wonderful way to pass the time!
Thanks, Lori, for introducing me to these wonderful women!
A heartwarming , gripping story, with an unforgettable cast of characters. I was totally seduced by this book. It is beautifully written, there’s just so much to this story. I was glued to it. I was emotional through it. I loved it!
I loved this book and all of the character’s especially the sisters. This was such a good quick read. It’s all about family, friends hard working family. It is about love and failures in love but in the end finding your true loves. I love that they rescue animals for their farm and enjoy what they do. This truly was an enjoyable read and I can’t wait to read more.
Perfect pick me up. Said goodbye to Bailey today so a story of animals and love was balm to my heart. Thank you
Lori Foster is an excellent author! She blends the lives of the two Somerset sisters, Autumn and Ember so seamlessly. The women are total opposites complete with eccentric parents but they are always there for each other. Both women have suffered tragedies and help each other move on in their lives. And both fall in love with two major hunky men. It’s a double love story complete with Cash’s adorable daughter Sadie as well as all the farm rescue animals Sadie named. Recommended!
Two opposite sisters, two hunky heroes, and an animal rescue farm in Kentucky set the stage for this fantastic story. I loved how different Autumn and Ember are, yet they are also both so totally relatable. A combination of romance and women’s fiction that is heartwarming, steamy, and highly recommended!
Lori Foster is a great author!
This is a story of two sisters, Autumn and Ember , who overcome their perceived flaws to find and accept love. I enjoyed reading it!
This book is a excellent Summer read. I absolutely love Lori Foster books. I loved the characters and the animals in this book. I recommend this book.
4.5 Stars
I listened to the audio version of this book. I thought this was a great summer read. I love books about sisters, maybe because I’m always looking for more than the relationships I have with my own sisters. Autumn and Ember were pretty much average for sisters–sometimes it’s a little rough between them, but when push comes to shove they are there for each other.
Each has a love interest in this story and Autumn’s relationship is definitely more developed than that of Ember. Ember puts out vibes of just wanting a good time, but there is a secret that adds more depth to her character. Autumn is the stay at home girl who thinks she’s just fine without a man. But then when she encounters an old crush and his adorable daughter and her way of thinking starts to shift a little.
A family relationship, love relationships, a cute little girl and lots of animals spice up this book and make the whole thing delectable. The great narration by Samantha Desz only made it better.
4 1/2 STARS!
Lori Foster has a magical way of making you feel like you’re home the minute you open one of her books! With heartfelt descriptions and interactions, you can see the characters come to life right beyond your eyes and feel their heartache and joy as the pages fly by. THE SOMERSET GIRLS brings us the story of two sisters who couldn’t be more different in personality, but love and support each other deeply. The fact that they share the running of an animal rescue with all of their spare time will delight readers who can’t get enough of their own furry creatures.
Autumn Somerset is simple yet delightful. She expends her creative side as a designer and enjoys burying her nose in a book with any downtime she manages to eek out after her day job and her farm duties. She can’t believe it when she hears the guy she crushed on in high school is back in town, and she only hopes she doesn’t find herself unable to speak in his presence like all those times in school when she became a stammering mess.
Ember Somerset is the life of the party. She loves immersing herself in life at all times and never wants to take the time to think or feel. She gives as good as she gets with playing hard to get around their farmhand Mike, but she likes the look of love on Autumn so much that she’s considering letting him catch her to try her own hand at the game.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a family rich plot filled with comedy, romance and lots and lots of heart. The adorable kiddo and animals make this story come to life! I really enjoyed them all.
I really needed this story. It helped pull me away from real life and pulled me into small town were the Somerset sisters live. I enjoyed seeing Autumn and Ember help each other through the changes they went through.
I loved the proposals! Sadie was one of my favorite characters. Thank you for a great read!!
This was great! The story for both women are unique and special. The characters are easy to love. I couldn’t stop thinking about it after I put it down and it kept urging me to pick it back up. I absolutely loved it!
This is one of those books that you pick up and feel transported into. It a little bit of everything, sisterhood, recovering from a divorce, recovering from a loss, an absolutely adorable child, a single father, parents who you never know what they are going to say next, and an ex that comes back to town and you wish you could shove over a cliff (although maybe that’s just me)
I love how the characters all play off of each other, and the fact that these two seemingly very different sisters, Autumn and Ember, are always there for each other, made the book for me more than the romance, what can I say – I’m a sucker for great characters. But if you know where I can find single father Tash, send him my way.
I really enjoyed this story about an animal rescue farm ran by two sister with very different personalities who are there for each other when they are needed the most. This was a very heart warming story about life, love and family not only by blood, but who you chose to be in your life. I received the arc for an honest review.
In this new book from Foster we meet Autumn and Ember, sisters who run an animal rescue farm. Each sister has issues that they need to work through the only problem is having g the courage to work through said issues. Autumn was left at the alter and left humiliated in front of the whole town. Her fiancee ran off with another woman leaving Autumn to pick up the pieces and figure out how to move on. After that horrible day she has thrown herself into work and given up on men all together. Ember had a loss that devastated her, depression is always in her fore front of her life and it is so hard not to succumb to it. She doesn’t believe that finding her one true love is possible and jumps from guy to guy just having fun. Follow these two young women as new possibilities enter into their lives and changes will have to be made. Will either go with their heart and let the impossible turn into the possible or will they both let their fears take a hold. This was a lovely read that will touch your heart and make you believe that anything is possible when it comes to love!
