A detective with an impossible taskPinkerton detective, Joshua Brookings, is sent on a job that seems simple on the surface. His fellow detective has been kidnapped and his boss, William Pinkerton, senses foul play. Joshua is sent to investigate Edward’s case in hopes of finding the kidnapped detective and helping solve the case that has taken over ten years to investigate.Arriving in Cheyenne, … investigate.
Arriving in Cheyenne, Joshua finds much more than a simple kidnapping. He must go undercover yet again; something he made his boss promise never to make him do again. The only Christian amongst a group of outlaws, Joshua’s faith weakens and almost loses his assurance in God’s providence.
Will he stand on the solid Rock or drown in the sinking sand?

I enjoyed the whole series very much.
Enjoyed the inspirational aspects injected in the crime scenes.
This is a wonderful book. Truly wonderful
Great book of faith and standing firm when faced with challenges.
Love reading books written by Faith Blum – looking forward to reading all of them
As I began reading this my first impression was how simply it was worded. So caught up in the method of writing I missed the entrance of the main character.
Good solid christian principles abound. Reminds me of the T.V. show, Roy Rogers in some ways. Our sleuth, Joshua is meticulous in gathering evidence and learning the plans of the bad guys. The most descriptive fight was the capture of the baddies, during which Joshua managed to get shot.
Is it adventure or romance? You’ll have to read to discern for yourself. As for me, a 68y/o male, I was rooting for Joshua and Pricilla when he was helping her gain employ with the detective agency he worked for.
Even without overt descriptions of words, actions, etc. I could tell something was brewing. I think you’ll see it too.
Safe reading for all.
I found this book to be inspirational for the person who wants to be more of a Christian in their daily living. The faith and trust exhibited by more than one character in this book points out more than one thing to me. It brings to light that when you surround yourself with others who believe as you do, it becomes easier to gain spiritual strength from them. When you are surrounded by those who do not believe as you do, you are faced with increased danger and the need for prayer is all the more important. Even though the setting of this book is reflects years gone by, the message remains. To the author, I say, Thank You.
I loved this story. I could really relate to the problems of this under cover detective and his need to lie as part of catching the criminals.
What a great Christian story of hope, love and helping your fellow man.
I loved it. I loved the inspiration from Christian characters I loved the story. I just loved everything about it
It is nice to read about how God cares for us and can change horrific circumstances to a peaceful, loving life. Great reminder of the importance of hymns and memorized Scripture to encourage us when life is tough.
It took me a while to get into the book and then I couldn’t put it down.
Loved the spiritual aspect of this book.
I didn’t realize, at first, that this is book 5 of a series. It mostly didn’t matter, because it had its own story, but there were too many characters that were brought in from the previous books. It tells a little about the beginnings of the Pinkerton Detectives and their work in the West.
A great story &message which I’ve already recommended it to a friend.
A great story about a Pinkerton man. Some of his undercover adventures and his faith. Love the story. Thank you
Great read. Old west setting.
Ms. Blum’s story fits the name of the Hymn perfectly.
Wonderful story ! Really enjoyed this book, couldn’t put it down .
Good story with a happy ending.
I like all of this authors book that are written around the “older” hymns. These ” older” hymns are certainly applicable to today. We would all benefit by rereading the words and taking them to heart and applying them to our hearts.
