Inspector Harry Hole tracks a Norwegian serial killer in this installment of Jo Nesbø’s New York Times bestselling series. One night, after the first snowfall of the year, a boy named Jonas wakes up and discovers that his mother has disappeared. Only one trace of her remains: a pink scarf, his Christmas gift to her, now worn by the snowman that inexplicably appeared in their yard earlier that … their yard earlier that day. Inspector Harry Hole suspects a link between the missing woman and a suspicious letter he’s received. The case deepens when a pattern emerges: over the past decade, eleven women have vanished—all on the day of the first snow. But this is a killer who makes his own rules . . . and he’ll break his pattern just to keep the game interesting, as he draws Harry ever closer into his twisted web. With brilliantly realized characters and hair-raising suspense, international bestselling author Jo Nesbø presents his most chilling case yet—one that will test Harry Hole to the very limits of his sanity.

Enjoy reading all of the zip Nesbo novels. I have recommended them to many friends. Good characters who are well fleshed out. Plots hold you. Books you want to keep reading uninterrupted.
I have been hearing about Jo Nesbo for awhile now, and have been wanting to try one of his books. I know this is the seventh book in the series, but I didn’t feel I was missing much by starting here. Maybe I would have learned a little more about Harry’s personal life, but the central mystery of the story was stand alone. The

What happens when one looks outside and a snowman is out there looking into the house? Follow Detective Harry Hole as he searches for the serial killer who builds snowmen to witness murder.
Harry Hole is such a relatable character. A hopeless alcoholic but bright and oh so dedicated to his job. I love his stories and this one in particular
One of the very best!
Very compelling read.
No one can write serial killers quite like Nesbo
quickly became one of my all time favorite writers
love this book and all the others he has written. Great thrillers if you like serial killer stories.
chilling and a page turner
This is the second Harry Hole story that I’ve read, after The Redbreast. As one would expect, the plot is fairly complex. The story jumps around in time, and there are numerous red herrings, perhaps a couple too many. It all holds together, however, due to a strong central theme. My favourite section of the book was told from the perspective of …
My first Jo Nesbo–It won’t be my last!
One of the best mystery writers
Strange, couldn’t get into this author.
Good scary read
I expected so much but meh. Rambling, too long, began to not care what was up with the killer, or the cop.
Original work that kept me wanting to keep reading. The first jo nesbo book I read. It made me check out several others.
Love this series. Harry Hole is the classic, messed up detective. However, he’s our favorite messed up detective and we love him
Harry Hole is my new hero! Or should I say anti hero?! If you read any of Jo Nesbo’s novels you’ll understand. Fabulous writer, all of these are great for a little twisted intrigue.
If you are a fan of Scandanavian murder mysteries, it just doesn’t get any better than Jo Nesbo.
A Detective Harry Hole story with an incredible plot that twists and turns as the police investigation progresses.
I liked all of the characters, even the baddy! They were all very well drawn with their own individual idiosyncrasies, strengths and weaknesses. It was easy to identify with them and understand their choices.
