It is perfect for those moments when you are waiting at an appointment or want to enjoy a quick read.Sarah Garland, a retired homicide detective who’s gone through a painful divorce, seems to have found her peace at last, as a coffeeshop owner, in the sleepy (and freezing) small town of Snow Falls, Alaska. Review:
The author is very talented in creating suspense with just the written word. From the very beginning of the book, the tension kept mounting. I wanted to keep swiping pages as fast as I could to see what was going to happen next but I was afraid to find out.
The author is also very talented in her descriptive writing. I could feel the bone chilling cold and see the grotesque snowmen leering at me. It gave me the chills.
The plot was well written and I thought the premise of the book was unique. I really liked the fact that Sarah was being stalked just like in her books. The characters are well rounded and well developed considering this is the first book in this series.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery that is very suspenseful. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
4.5 Stars
Enjoyed this cozy mystery with a touch of suspense. Great groundwork for the characters and nice development of friendships. Laid a foundation for more stories and more depth to the protagonists. Nicely done!
An okay mystery
This started out kind of slow then picked up then went slow-corny again. Was I disappointed in reading it?…maybe a little as I had hoped for. A little better writing, but it was a nice fast read. It ended to be continued in the next book in the series. As far as recommending to my preteen-tween reading friends I don’t see why they couldn’t read this. It was clean of language and sexual situations
My first finish for 2021 was a good start into the new year.
The beginning was a bit confusing but at the same time got me hooked immediately. It is a short read but fast paced with a lot of suspense and the cold, snowy Alaskan landscape is a fitting background for this mystery.
A very good start to this series and I already picked up the next one….

This is a short story that I quite enjoyed. It did have its bad points the main one for me was the main character she was to wimpy to have been a cop, I could understand it if she had suffered a drama and was suffering post traumatic stress but she just left the police force because of a divorce. Her emotions were all over the place one minute she is afraid of a snowman and scared to leave the house, the next she is running to her car because it is to cold outside for anyone to still be out there. Other than that it is an interesting story and I think the series could have potential, especially if the detective tries to uncover his wife’s killer and the main character grows more confident in herself.
Sarah is an ex cop and after a divorce has moved to Alaska to run a coffee shop and write novels. She is pleased to find out a friend Is coming to visit, until she finds a snowman outside her front door. The killer of her latest book used snowman to torment his victims before killing them. Has one of the criminals from her past caught up with her? Sarah must work out what are clues left deliberately by the killer as red herrings and what are real clues that could lead to identifying the stalker. With the help from a new detective in town who knows a little bit to much about Sarah’s past she will have to find out how the stalker knew she was the author of the snowman killer series when no body else did. Not even her best friend.
The narrator was okay, not the best I have heard or the worst and once you got use to the voices you could tell each character apart.
