Book one.

Her friend had just eloped with an Earl and she was moving to go live with him in England. To cheer Cora up, she asks her to come and stay with her over the holidays. Cora takes her up on the offer. Unfortunately, the holidays do not go as planned and when there is a horrible death, she can not help but investigate.
This is a delightful, historical cozy mystery set in the English countryside during a snow storm during the Great Depression. The characters are well done, with interesting personalities. The dynamics between them was wonderful done and focused on misconceptions, hidden motives, secrets and prejudices between the classes. The narrative was well done and gave great descriptions of the scenery, insights in Cora’s thinking and her qmotivations. The storyline flows smoothly and quickly and is filled with wrong turns, secrets, surprises, romance, danger and suspense. The book was engaging and I read it in one sitting. With so many clues, I really wanted to find out who did it. If you like historical cozy mysteries with good writing, the give this one a try.
Book two
Cora is finally going to visit her. Great Aunt. Her Aunt works in a modern manor House close to the ocean. While she is excited to visit her relative, she does not get much of a chance as the mistress of the house wants to attend a weekend party. The lady of the house thinks her husband is in danger and feels there have been several attempts on his life. Because no one believes her, she hires Clara to observe everyone and see if they are acting suspicious. Then the unthinkable happens, the husband is murdered.
This is the second book in the cozy historical mystery series, Sleuthing Starlets. The characters are well done with eclectic and interesting personalities. The narrative is great giving you a wonderful sense of the time period and the setting of the story. I enjoyed the dialogue, especially the interrogation questions and the more subtle dialogue of the time period. The storyline runs smoothly combining the mystery with a sprinkling of romance. The mystery itself is engaging, filled with numerous clues, false leads, surprising turns, unexpected twists and suspense. I was wondering who did it right to the end. It is a good historical cozy mystery.
Book Three
Former American starlet, Cora Clarke moves into a flat in Bloomsdale with her pet dog, Archibald. The problem is that it is already occupied by a corpse. Now it is up to her to figure out who is the murder before she becomes the next victim. This story is set in London just before WW II.
This the third book in the Sleuthing Starlets historical cozy mystery series. The characters were well crafted complete with strengths and foibles. The storyline was well done and flowed smoothly. The romance was more prominent in this story. The setting was a bit different as her apartment was is a much lower class area. I liked the fact she was more on her own and learned a lot about want she wants out of her life. The mystery was great, full of expected twists and turns, danger and suspense. I look forward to the next book the series.

I really enjoyed all three of these stories. Cora was a child actress in Hollywood and as an adult that is the lens she sees the world through. England is very different from what she’s used to and her perspective on people and politics is interesting. It is a nice change from other cozy mysteries and I always like learning a bit about the past from the story and descriptions. The stories all flowed smoothly and were hard to put down.

I absolutely loved these three mysteries set in the 1930s. I love the characters and I guess actors were a lot nicer people back in the 30s because these ladies were very awesome. Cora was a wonderful amateur sleuth and kept the story rolling with action and story! Plus, I got to read all three stories without taking a break.

Although they are also a bit frightening, the books in this collection share sparkling worlds and places with nasty dark sides.
Some of the very people who would be expected to be pillars of justice are exactly those who are most tarnished, and the latitude their positions are given allows more damage to be done.
Though filled with interesting period tidbits, these stories still seem very personal and relatable- not forced or stilted, as I have sadly sometimes read elsewhere.
If you enjoy personable heroines with heart, and period pieces with nifty settings and trappings, this could be a great fun KU collection for you.
I got an advance copy of the bundle from Booksprout. I had read some of these books on Kindle Unlimited, and bought one on Kindle.
I am looking forward to the next story I heard is on its way soon!
Enjoy three great cozy historical mysteries set in the 1930s and are all Cora Clarke’s mysteries. Cora Clarke can find trouble no matter where she goes, each of these murders take place at different places as she moves around England. Murder at the Manor House is about a friend who marries an English earl and then gets blamed for the murder that happens. Danger on the Downs is when Cora and Veronica go to visit Cora’s great aunt and one person thinks she can get away murder and blame another. The last story is The Body in Bloomsbury when Cora is moving into an apartment and Veronica and her find a dead body in Cora’s bed. So much is going on through it all she can count on Randolph who works for the government in a high capacity job. I enjoyed reading this well written set of books. Murder at the Manor House
Cora Clarke’s best friend and fellow actress Veronica elopes with an English earl & Cora travels to England to give Veronica moral support when she braves the aristocratic disapproval of her new husband’s family. Unfortunately the holiday turns nightmarish when a crystal chandelier crashes down and someone is killed. Suspicion falls on Veronica so Cora vows to figure out the identity of the murderer.
I really enjoyed this book which was set in rural England in the 1930s, it captured the essence of the times with haughty aristocrats & beautiful actresses, throw in a snowstorm, broken telephone wires & you’re set for a good old fashioned whodunnit. There were plenty of red herrings & everyone seems to have something to hide until the killer is finally exposed.
Danger on the Downs
Sussex, 1938.
Former Hollywood child star Cora Clarke may be new to England, but she does know that visiting the seaside is supposed to be a soothing experience. The snowy white cliffs and foamy ocean are indeed idyllic, but when her great aunt Maggie’s employer Mrs Ivanov insists someone is trying to murder her husband, Cora is whisked off to a house party with her pet bichon Archibald. When someone soon turns up dead, Cora discovers Sussex might possess scandals that exceed anything a Hollywood director might conjure for the silver screen.
This is the second book of the series & another enjoyable read. A good old fashioned whodunnit where the characters aren’t likeable & their backstory isn’t delved into so that you are left in the dark about the suspects & they are all suspects. There are twists & turns until the villain is revealed. I do like Cora & Randolph & hope their relationship continues to develop in later books. The pace of the story is good & my interest was held all the way through. I enjoy this type of murder mystery & it makes a welcome change from modern police procedural novels
The Body in Bloomsbury
Former Hollywood starlet Cora Clarke is eager to move into a flat in Bloomsbury with her pet bichon Archibald. She arrives there with her best friend Veronica, unfortunately, when they enter her new flat, a man is already there lying dead on the bed
Another interesting, enjoyable murder mystery. It takes Cora from the Savoy to Harrods to a night club in Soho. Whilst I like Cora & Randolph most of the other characters are thoroughly obnoxious, however that’s the joy of a mystery set in London in the 1930’s the characters can be stereotyped, it works & makes for a tongue in the cheek read which I read in one sitting during an afternoon. If you like a traditional murder mystery from the early twentieth century then you’ll love this
This isn’t the authors usual genre but I’d recommend reading the box set & I’m looking forward to more sleuthing by Cora
Sleuthing Starlet Collection includes Murder at the Manor House, Danger on the Downs, and The Body in Bloomsbury. Cora had a flourishing career as a young actress but was released when her adult career floundered. She accepts the offer to accompany her friend, Veronica, to pre-World War II England. She seems to get involved in murder cases and sifts through the clues and red herrings, and even encounters danger. I enjoyed reading this collection and intent to read more of Bianca Blythe’s work.

*** Reviewing THE BODY IN BLOOMSBURY – BOOK 3 ***
This is the author’s third book in her Sleuthing Starlet cozy mystery series. Cora Clarke, former Hollywood child star, is reluctantly back in the crime-solving business it seems as she enters her new London flat in Bloomsbury with her best friend, actress Veronica James, only to find a dead body on the bed! Tracking down a phone was the first obstacle, but they placed the call to the police. The officer went inside the room and came back out, upset that they had wasted his time. He told them there was no body on the bed! When they suggested he wait, that perhaps it was elsewhere, he retorted that in that case, the man wasn’t dead and it was none of the officer’s concern! This was the start of their madcap investigating adventure! Would they find the killer? Would they find the body? Or was Cora now in danger of being the next victim?
I enjoyed this book with its simple story line and wonderful characters. Everyone will love the adorable Archibald, Cora’s pet bichon; her snarky and endearing friend, Veronica; and singer father, “Pop”, who suddenly and unexpectedly appeared in London and seems to perhaps have a bodyguard. Can Cora catch the culprit? What else could be going on? Enjoy the three offbeat mysteries in this cozy set!
