and bestseller!
While more and more people each day become aware of the dangerous world of human trafficking, most people in the U.S. still believe this is something that happens to foreign women, men, and children — not something that happens to their own.
In this powerful true story, Theresa L. Flores shares how her life as an All-American, blonde-haired 15-year-old teenager who could have … shares how her life as an All-American, blonde-haired 15-year-old teenager who could have been your neighbor was enslaved into the dangerous world of sex trafficking while living in an upper-middle class suburb of Detroit. Her story peels the cover off of this horrific criminal activity and gives dedicated activists as well as casual bystanders a glimpse into the underbelly of trafficking. And it all happened while living at home without her parents ever knowing about it. Involuntarily involved in a large underground criminal ring, Ms. Flores endured more as a child than most adults will ever face their entire lives.
In this book, Ms. Flores discusses how she healed the wounds of sexual servitude and offers advice to parents and professionals on preventing this from occurring again, educating and presenting significant facts on human trafficking in modern day America.

True story of a teenager living with both parents in an upscale neighborhood who was lured into the world of human trafficking. A must read.
I honestly didn’t like this book very much and could not empathize with the protagonist. The high school girl was used as a sex slave and never told her family……just could not empathize. She got out of this situation when the family moved.
Sad but true story of being a teenager and feeling trapped and hopeless. Incredible this stuff happens all over the world, even in the great USA. Parents, beware….
This was a great book, I’ve recommended it to several friends.
A lot of information about sex trafficking & how insidious it can happen. I learned a lot and now can better understand how it can happen to anyone.
Very informative. May read it a second time. Timely.
A book I hated to keep reading because it reminded me of a life situation I was in that started when I was young. At the same time the general population needs to be aware that these things do goon, and in America and we all need to stay alert in order to help these poor victims when ever possible, but discretely so as not to alert the perps. …
A very insightful book into the world of human trafficking. The author experienced the life on the inside and has spent her life in working to free those that have caught in the human trafficker trap and educating others to avoid being pulled into that world! Well worth reading!
Eye opener
The book will open your eyes to child trafficking. What happened to this child was horrendous and I hope the people who did this to her rot in hell.
Interesting autobiography
Not a fun read but good insight to the sex trafficking trade in this country. All parents should read this to understand the danger that their children can be easily esposed to.
I enjoyed this book until the end when it got a little to religious oriented. Makes you wake up and realize that young girls are being exploited everywhere…even next door to you.
How many others have I met who were trapped in such desperate conditions, who were afraid to reach out for help? Riveting story from start to finish.
Unless you have been a victim of human trafficking in the US, you need to read this. And probably if you have been, you need to read this. Ms. Flores writing is excellent, but more than anything else her understanding of what she has experienced, and her incredible ability to make it understandable to those of us who have not, makes this a must …
How awful!!! And to think this happens in our country makes me sick to my stomach. Thank you for alerting us of this terrible danger. God bless and keep you strong.
I knew this was going on, but it gave me an education. This is so scary especially for
our young people. I’m really glad I read the book. It will stay with me for a while.

An eye-opening book for me !
Eye opening about the tragic evil world we live in and what evil people will do for pleasure and profit.
A real EYEOPENER for Americans. Human Trafficking exists in our country and we need to be aware for our children.
