Our heroine is an agent fighting supernatural crimes, but what happens when duty conflicts with love?
This is book two of the series. It works well as a standalone, but you will be missing some of the background on the characters. I see no reason you could not start here if so inclined.
This is a steampunk story featuring lots of action, adventure and mystery as well as a little bit of romance. I love steampunk stories and can’t get enough of them. I love the world the author has created and all the fascinating little touches which bring the story to life. The story also has well developed characters that make you feel like to can smell the smoke and soot in the air. I loved our heroine as she is my kind of lady: smart and resourceful, if not a little headstrong at times. Our characters have excellent chemistry and they will face a few challenges here. The plot is detailed and well thought out with enough twists and turns to give you a crick in your neck. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and had a hard time putting it down. Overall, an excellent story and I look forward to reading more in this series.
Highly recommended.

When I read a series usually book one is where I fall in love, book two is the exciting follow up but doesn’t always live up to the first. Well, book two in the Auckland Steampunk series swept me off to a land that was as vivid as a movie. This one is more steamy but don’t worry nobody needs to know what your reading, it can be our secret. I can’t wait to see where they go next because I NEED more!!!
If you want something to take your mind off real life, this is just the ticket.
A worthy followup to The Heart Collector, the first book I read in the Australian Steampunk collection.
There is a little more sex than I enjoy but the story is so worth it. I am looking forward to the next.book in the series.
