I didn’t want to be entrusted with her care.
You see, she has Asperger’s and she struggles with social cues.
Somehow, she’s convinced me to be her social coach.
Somehow, the lines have blurred . . .
Note: THE SLAM (Hemsworth Brothers Book 1) is a deliciously sexy, full-length romantic comedy. It can be read as a standalone.
“This really is a beautiful love story.” ~ Books and Boys
“I have found the BOOK. The Slam was a grand slam. Charming, witty, funny as hell and very sexy, it had this underlying innocence and depth that completely spoke to my heart. It switched from side-splittingly funny to thought-provoking and serious, and back again without giving me whiplash. Just that warm, happy feeling you get when you read a damn good book.” ~ Beth, Give Me Books/One-Click Addict Support Group

Fun to read.
I enjoyed the author’s portrayal of the characters.. The story was interesting and kept me chuckling as well as laughing out loud quite often !
I think Adelaide may just be my favorite character EVER. I love how she views and explains life. I can relate to her on so many levels. And I just want to get to know Ender more. He’s a guy… but a good guy. I like that there’s more to him than just what people see on the surface. He’s intelligent, caring and hard working. I would definitely recommend this book to friends…or to anyone who needs to laugh outloud.
I loved this book Ender and Adelaide are seriously the best!
I instantly fell in love with Adelaide’s innocent, honest nature. She was so raw and real. I was entranced by her.
Ender was the perfect bad boy/sweetheart. He made my heart melt. The way he was with Adelaide was pure perfection.
I enjoyed the dual POV, you get to see both of their feelings and interpretations of the events. I can’t wait to read more!
I would definitely recommend this book.
Very witty with a Sheldon like female character.
Great storyline and I loved the characters.
This book is amazing! I love how she literally blurts out anything that’s accurate according to the conversation. The love between them is electric and quite beautiful. “Aspergers isn’t a disease it’s a syndrome.” Made me tear up a bit.
I absolutely adore Adelaide and Ender. Adelaide is truly an inspirational character by her never give up attitude. The disability she has never slows her down. I love that it was Ender that she fell in love with. I didn’t think he was good enough for her in the beginning, but as I read The Foreplay Ender’s character changed emotionally. When he professes the things he loves about Adelaide, I was in tears. His speech before the proposal was so heart-felt and captured all the things I love about Adelaide’s character. Great Books! You have to read both to capture the entire story.
I enjoyed this storyline. I laughed out loud quite a few times. I loved how the two characters interacted. Overall a good story.
~Ender & Adelaide~
This is my first Haleigh Lovell book. She definitely has a unique Style! This story was definitely different from any I’ve read.
I’ve never been one for roll play, but now I can honestly say, patient/doctor? Never going to Happen! Oh my goodness, I think I cried, I was laughing so hard!
I’m really looking forward to following the rest of Ender and Adelaide’s story, which yay, came out today!
The Slam is a romantic comedy featuring an unconventional female lead. Adelaide and Ender are childhood friends going to the same college. Adelaide asks Ender for help and things between them become interesting. I laughed a ton reading this book. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that it ended abruptly.
If you haven’t had the chance to read Haleigh Lovell yet then you need to do so now. I have to admit that The Slam is my very first book that I’ve read by Haleigh. Now I’ll let you in on a little secret…..I so plan on going back for more.
The Slam is an incredible breath of fresh air read. Ender and Edric are amazing brothers. I love their relationship. You add in long time friend Adelaide moving in with them into the mix and let the giggles commence. Seriously I love Adelaide and the fact that we are presented with such a unique character. Adelaide never sees her Asperger’s as a hindrance. If anything it makes her the most amazing person out there. She is quirky, smart and full of surprises. I love her honesty. It’s no wonder Ender is drawn more and more to her. Ender always knew she was different growing up and I love how he just embraces it fully. Now he does come off as bit of a ladies man in the beginning but once Adelaide enters the picture you can tell he only sees her. Through out The Slam they create a beautiful relationship and bond. I love how Adelaide pushes Ender to go after his dream of playing pro tennis. I for one couldn’t get enough of this book. I was happy to see that Ender and Adelaide story continues in The Foreplay and can’t wait to jump into that one to see how much Adelaide and Ender grow together. The Slam is a book that needs to be read.
Love, Love this book!! There are few books out there that can make me laugh out loud…this one did! What can I saw about Adelaide… She rocks!!!! Haleigh you have written another great one. Please keep writing

The Slam is an amazing friends to lovers romance with a dash of sports. Adelaide is a unique character for me, I’ve never met a character like her. She has Aspergers and her brain is honestly so fascinating. I learned a lot from her and about her condition. She was pretty special and I really enjoyed watching her explore the college life and make friends, enjoy life and I specifically enjoyed watching her fall in love with her childhood friend, roommate and social coach.
This was a fun, sweet and quick read. I loved the characters and how real the story was.
This is the first book I have read from this author and I was pulled in right away. This is the beginning of Ender and Adelaide’s story. This was a funny, sweet and quirky romance with a little steam. Loved the storyline and the characters. Can’t wait to read more of their story in The Foreplay.
I fell I love with Adelaide and Ender! They stole my heart
Once I started I couldn’t put it down. I most definitely enjoyed it. Fast read, fun and unique characters and cute sexy moments. I really liked Ender!
Adelaide was blunt and honest but not rude, she was expressive and talked a lot but not annoying, she was nice and hopeful even with mean people around. There’s much to say about her way of seeing the world and I really like her for that.
The funny moments in this is something I would dye to watch on the big screen.
I’m a fan! Great story by the author the one thing I can say I could’ve done without is some long facts, but it didn’t stop my reading.
Adelaide was my jam; a heroine after my own heart. My sweet Adelaide has Asperger’s (and aspie characters might be my kryptonite?) and sometimes doesn’t know when to stop talking. The dialogue in The Slam was outstanding, and I really thought the author did a great job at conveying Adelaide’s feelings and actions as someone with Asperger’s.
Ender was the manwhore I love. The one who falls in love and slowly changes his ways, and watching him realize what was happening was so fun. It’s kind of like Adelaide snuck up on him.
My only criticism would be the ending, I suppose. Ender and Adelaide went from childhood friends -> sexy friends -> the end (on their ONE AND ONLY DATE!). Regardless, the abruptness of the ending was not enough to detract from my love of the story and the characters. Luckily for me (and you!) book two has recently released and I’m hoping that gives us a conclusion of sorts.
Also now I kind of want to start watching tennis?
This was a fantastic read – my first from this author. The characters are fresh and the dialogue is witty and I have to say I loved that the heroine wasn’t your typical sweet college virgin. Adelaide has Aspergers and has travelled to the US from Australia to live with her childhood best friends Ender and Endric. She wants to have a NORMAL college experience. They are the BIG MEN on campus and are not sure how to handle Adelaide and all her honesty/quirks to begin with but a promise to their grandma and their childhood history make them take her in. She is smart, kind and seriously funny and I ADORED her. I loved the dual POV where we got to see how her brain processed situations and Ender’s feelings (which he tries to keep hidden for a lot of the book).
Add in some hilarious supporting characters and the promise of great stories from this group of friends and I know I will definitely be checking out more of her books. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something a little different – smart, funny with just the right dash of heat.
One of the best books I’ve ever read! It was extremely funny and romantic also very realistic with relatable characters!
