A slow-burn psychological thriller with a dash of Dan Brown adventure and the dark chills of a Dean Koontz horrorEvie is in the grip of a gambling addiction. PRAISE FOR ‘THE SIX’
“A fast-paced and thrilling plot, The Six is a breathtaking and intense ride, and is filled with twists and turns which kept my heart in my mouth!” Brenda Telford, Goodreads reviewer & librarian
“This is a very clever and original plot with many surprises to keep you on the edge of your seat.” Carolyn, Goodreads reviewer
“It’s a scary, creepy, twisty tale full of mind bending secrets around every corner and nothing is as it seems!” Li’l Owl, Goodreads reviewer
“This book was beyond terrifying and yet the storyline sucked me in so completely that I would lose total track of time lost in a Greek island.” Julie.A.Powell, Goodreads reviewer
“At the end, I was shocked how it all tied together and how it ended for everyone. This is exactly how a psychological thriller should be done.” Megan Miller, Goodreads reviewer
“This book started off with some desperate addicts (spanning a large range of all different kinds of addictions) from all over the world being chosen to compete in six challenges. These take place at a monastery for a week on an island in Greece, all expenses paid and $10k prize money for each challenge day to the winners. Sinister and mysterious people & events overshadow the pleasant surroundings, however, and the suspense didn’t let up! Couldn’t put it down!” Jessica George, Goodreads reviewer

Great character depth.
Great read. Characters you wanted to see make it and have a happy ending.
loved this book, kept me guessing and a surprise ending.
One of the best books I’ve read
I liked the book but more toward the end. It had 5 main characters, one unknown til the end. I don’t typically enjoy books with different character books because it is difficult to keep up with. About halfway through the book it began to get suspenseful.
I couldn’t put this book down! Twists and turns galore! Very original story line too.
couldn’t put this one down. Went on to read another of the same author!
Fascinating, complex plot but easy to follow because of the way the chapters are named and arranged. You won’t want to stop reading to go to bed!
This book is quite a mysterious and haunting read. The characters are a mixture of twisted and realistic. Hard to put down.
It was okay
When a few characters attempt to play detective things get dangerous for them while looking for loved ones. They were entangled into a dark and dangerous world.
Evie was lured into a society that promised to fix her problems by undergoing a series of challenges.
Overall:
The four points of view: Evie, Constant, Gray, and I, inside the walls character disrupted the delivery of these challenges. I thought the premise was these challenges, but it wasn’t. I felt the supporting characters crowded the story by interrupting these competitions. Each time one of the characters stole the spotlight with their point of view I had to redirect my thoughts. It was a struggle to reconnect with these characters separately.
Later in the book it all makes sense why there was four characters points of view. The focus should be on the characters as it was a character driven story.
I was so excited to read this book. The premise was so promising. Something in the execution just lost me. The challenges weren’t as exciting as I had hoped. It was a struggle to visualize these rooms and the box. Too much was going on and yet not enough was going on.
This was a slow progressing story that left much to the imagination since not much discovery was to be had from those challenges.
Writers create characters to make the reader think. While this was a thought provoking story I wasn’t enraptured by the storyline. Had I known early on that the characters were the main focus and not the challenges I might’ve been more inclined to connect with the story. As it was the mumbo jumbo talk about the society on this island bored me.
I had to step away several times from this story and read another story because my mind couldn’t stay in the game. I really wanted to like this story. I had high expectations for a completely different delivery and outcome.
I couldn’t get a visual on the challenges it was difficult trying to imagine what took place in that room.
I wish I could say that the unexpected twists and turns were exciting revelations, but I just couldn’t care at this point in the story. All it did was fill in the missing puzzle pieces to help explain this crazy concept.
The story dragged on for en eternity prolonging the outcome of this crazy situation. I can’t get past the convoluted storyline.
Evie is a young mother, has a gambling problem and is in a world of trouble. A offer is made…..travel to a remote retreat, solve six challenges and leave with enough money to solve all her problems. If it’s too good to be true….it must be very dangerous. A clever thriller featuring a secret cult, some unique challenges, and lots of twists and turns. Told by three main characters, it moves quickly toward an ending that’s almost over the top. I suppose if the reader believed the first 3/4s of the book, the reader can swallow the last 4th too.
Unique story. Keeps your attention til the end.
Couldn’t put this down. Maybe this kind of thing really happens???
Not what I was expecting, definitely a thriller as contestants compete to have all their debt erased. Six contests and winner has their debt paid off sounded easy but it’s anything but. There are so many twists and turns you won’t want to put this one down.
A very thrilling, page turning read.
Conclusion was a big let down.
The beginning drew me in, the plot kept me interested, and the action was pretty fast paced throughout. You need to suspend belief at times, but that’s normal with most thrillers!
I didn’t mind the different POVs and I liked the tension created by the unknown ‘I, inside the walls’, but I found the ending a bit too incredible, even for me.
Overall, though, an enjoyable read.
This was a book that I really liked. Liked the way the author had the characters tell their own stories. Made you really get yo know them and want to know what was going to happen next. It was a different type of storyline that I usually read and enjoy but it had surprise plots and endings. Again I recommend this book
This is a great vacation book. Moves along, decently written. It is a bit gruesome, however, I’ve read worse. If you like a mystery (I did figure it out about two thirds through), interesting story, and gratuitous violence, you might like this read.
