How does a widow survive when her husband has squandered most of their money? She opens a boarding house to the most random and whimsical people. How they learn to get along and build strong friendships is a story worth reading.
After reading this, I had to get the whole series. Wonderful writers!! Thought provoking! Challenged me to appreciate those Sisters within my various Circles.
A feel-good story about a group of women with very different personalities to become like family and bring out the best in each other and spur one another on to faith and good works. It’s a little bit too good to be true which is why I didn’t give it a five but I enjoyed it enough to buy the rest of the books in the series.
Great characters! We all have flaws that can be improved upon. Having sister to help is even better.
I loved the whole series. The characters are wonderful! I’ve already recommended it to all of my friends.
Loved all the different characters, each had special traits different from the others.
Starting over is difficult at any age ~ this is refreshing and encouraging!! Truly shows we all depend on each other, too.
I loved the characters and the real people they were. The story drew me in so that I was cheering for each character for different reasons. Sure made me look around to ladies in my own life who are like these sisters.
This book had a very different and interesting story line. I loved how different each of the characters were but how they were able to get along despite those differences. Good life lessons for all of us.
How I love this book! Can’t wait to read more by this author. I couldn’t help but see myself in some of these characters and it makes me want to correct the things that I can. Wonderful plot and character development. I feel like I have known each person!
Life after retirement and as a senior citizen is portrayed in a positive way.
I loved these ladies.
First time reading this author. I enjoyed the characters and look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.
It was a good book with fun characters. The end wasn’t too predictable.
A recently widowed woman in her fifties discovers that her late husband, not one to plan, left her with only $10,000 in insurance, and his large family home in which they had lived for their married life. Being unemployed, she must find a way to survive on what she has left. She rents her home out to three other women. Their bonding, learning …
I loved the mix of the characters in the house. I could easily picture myself in the story with several of my friends. Fun easy read that keep me entertained, made me think about relationships and inspired me step out of my comfort zone and engage more with other women.
Loved this book! Reading the 3rd in the series now!
Widow, Evelyn Peerbaugh, knew upon the sudden death of her husband that she must find a means to become her sole financial support. The obvious was to use her large lovely Victorian home as a boarding house. Her seven female boarders eventually bond through trail and error. There are moments of humor and other attempts at character humor that fall …
A very good book.
No doubt deeply religious people would like this book but it was way too preachy for me and “in your face” Christianity. I’m a Christian myself but this was too much. The characters were interesting and the book had potential to be better but after so many discussions about and with God, I couldn’t get through the book.
