From New York Times Bestselling Author, Claire Contreras, comes a new, sexy, 100% stand-alone novel . . . If you had any ties to Marbella, it was impossible for you not to have heard the stories about Prince Elias and his debauchery. Every summer he arrived with his security detail and friends in tow and rented out a row of cottages near the water. Cottages that belonged to my family. Each of … family.
Each of those summers, my parents sent me away – summer camp and later, boarding school. Anything to keep me away from the royals and their partying.
I hadn’t been home in years, but when I finally come back for the summer, I see that not much has changed. Like all the summers I’d been gone, Prince Elias is back, but this time with an incognito security detail and no friends. This time, there is no partying, no noise, no crowds. No reason at all to even think he was there.
I’m given strict orders not to talk to him, not to even look in his direction, but he makes this an impossible task. I may be doing everything in my power to stay away from him, but there is no one in the world who can say no to the future King of France.

Forbidden love between a future king and a commoner?……Sign me up!!!
I am an absolute sucker for this trope so I knew it was going to be an amazing read, but when you add the fact that it’s a Claire Contreras story, it made it an absolute phenomenal read!!
One night of secrecy and passion turn into so much more years later.
Elias is royalty, but tired of the life that that entails.
Adeline is many things- strong, beautiful, independent, but there’s one thing that makes her forbidden and taboo……..she’s a commoner and an absolute no-no for a future king.
Thank the heavens Elias is one that is willing to bend the rules!
This is an addictive, fast read that I could not put down.
You definitely get the insta lust turned insta love vibes, and it is definitely interesting (fast page turning actually) to see how these two managed to overcome that humongous obstacle of royalty and commoners being together.
Kudos to Claire Contreras for plotting out this storyline with some clever trickery and just good old fashion addictive writing that keeps me coming back for more.
This is a standalone novel but I am very excited to stay in this world and get the stories of Elias’ siblings- the bits I got from them in this book already has me wanting more!
I would highly recommend this book and any other book by this author.
I don’t think it’s possible for her to write something I wouldn’t love.
*´`*•.5 STAR REVIEW.•*´`*
There’s a reason why so many of us, Romance readers, love the Royal Romance trope, and a perfect example is The Sinful King, a delightful modern day fairy tale. This beautifully written love story features a prince who carries a heavy burden; as if he’s weighed down by the heavy crown he may soon wear, torn by his obligations to the monarchy, and its traditions, and the woman he may have been waiting his entire life. Maybe not everyone dreams of being a princess, or marrying a prince, but who doesn’t want their partner/lover/boyfriend/husband to call you their Queen? This story had me sighing countless times while reading; giddy and a little anxious to see what was in store for the man who would to be King and the common girl who stole his heart, like a thief in the night.
“You don’t curtsy to me.” “Are you not my King?” “Are you not my world?”
Adeline Bouchard was spending the summer at the family’s villas in Marbella, before going off to college. Addie’s father and brother owned the exclusive villas they rented every summer to the crème de la crème; their regular clients included royals, actors, and celebrities from around the world, looking for privacy. There was a reason her parents insisted she be shipped off to camp or boarding school while the royals were in residence, their dubious, well-earned reputation preceded them. Addie met Prince Elias that summer, without knowing who he was at the time, and she made a rash decision. She knew that she’d never forget him, even if she was just a blip on his radar. Or so Addie thought.
“You have the most beautiful heart I’ve ever encountered.”
Crown Prince Elias, the heir apparent, and his brother, Aramis, enjoyed their time spent in Marbella, away from the prying and critical eyes of the press. There were many rumors about the activities that went on at the villas, some of which were true and others that were wildly exaggerated, but they both had a well-earned reputation. Both princes played hard, but were mindful of the obligations waiting for them in Paris. When Elias met Adeline he didn’t tell her who he was, but he knew who she was.
“I couldn’t have him, and that was final. The sooner I accepted that, the better it would be.”
These two meet in Marbella five years later, when Addie is running away from a scandal and Elias has to make a decision about his future, and it seemed as if Fate has something special in store for them.
“You don’t have to be a king to change history.” “No, I suppose not.” “You can be a queen.”
This is a Standalone, and the first of the new Naughty Royal series, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for the other royal siblings.
This one was so much fun! First of all, Adeline – what an incredible character. I loved how strong and forward-thinking she was. She wasn’t demure and she didn’t defer to anyone. She had her own thoughts and she wasn’t afraid to voice them. I especially enjoyed how she responded to Elias. She called him out when she needed to and she questioned his motives and challenged his ideals. Their relationship was one of mutual respect and adoration. It was easy to root for them! I also enjoyed the side characters and am very much looking forward to reading about Pilar and the ever intriguing Aramis. I’m so glad there’s more to come because I’m not ready to leave this world and these characters yet!
A wonderful feel good romance! The passion. The realism. And best of all, it’s a fairly tale romances ripped from real life! The genuineness of this couple is sincere, sweet and their love is mesmerizing.
This book was phenomenal! I loved it so much! Elias and Adeline are everything! I couldn’t put it down! Claire really out did herself with this book! An amazing story about how love conquers all!
And who says shivalry is dead . The Sinful King was a whirlwind romance that had me on the edge of my seat! Raw and unrestrained desire and devotion. The pull between what others thought was right and wrong. It was enough to make Addie and Elias go mad. Two hearts that beat as one to literally take on the world. Claire Conteras is a master with words . I felt every word and emotion so deeply. What an incredibly amazing story.
In this latest book, Adeline is the kind of girl that follows the rules but when it comes to Prince Elias, all that goes out the window.
It’s a different kind of story from Contreras. She touches on royalty and the relationships that are formed and how they are treated with the ‘commoners’. Adeline doesn’t treat Elias different and of course he would find that refreshing.
The beginning was tough for me to get past. *****spoiler alert here*****
I just thought it was a bit far fetched for my liking as she just decides after meeting this guy for ten minutes to just give him her virginity. Then of course after their time together changes everything for Elias and he of course wants to change everything for the girl.
I usually really enjoy Contreras’s books. She is always able to write a captivating story with very interesting characters, but this one was hard for me to get into. There are parts that I did enjoy reading, but there was some effort to try and get through parts of it. Adeline’s character was fun and I always love it when the heroine is able to ‘stick it’ to the male lead.
French royalty in present day, who knew but Claire Contreras put the best spin on this fairytale to make it believable. I loved that the first half of this book was told from Adeline’s point of view. It was fun to try to guess what Elias was thinking with each encounter and when we finally got his point of view it was more fun to see if you were right or wrong in your conclusions regarding his feelings. This was a lovely story and I cannot wait to see what other stories come out of this world!
This book is AMAZING! I knew very little going into this book so I had no idea what to expect. And y’all…I can’t get over how incredible The Sinful King truly was. I can honestly say this is one of my favorite books by Claire so far. There’s tons of emotion and angst and if you’re anything like me it will have you biting your nails with anticipation. But it’s so worth it in the end because you won’t be able to get these characters out of your head.
Adeline is the best! She has been through so much at the hands of society and her family. And her strength and kindness shine through so much. I found myself wanting to take her into my arms and protect her from everything because she grew on me like a best friend. Watching her grow and find strength in herself throughout this book was powerful.
Alike, Adeline, Elias was battling with the pressure that society and his family were putting on his shoulders. As the heir to the throne, he had many rules. One of which prevented him from being with Adeline. You see Elias struggle with his feelings for Adeline and how they don’t align with his destiny. Claire gives us insight into his mind in a couple of chapters throughout the book and it really allows us to see how deep his feelings run and just how much pressure he is under as a royal. And it’s hard not to fall so dang hard for The Sinful King.
Watching Adeline and Elias helplessly fall, knowing they have an end date, is heartbreaking. I was on the verge of tears so many times throughout this book because it was a waiting game of when’s the end. The whole time you’re trying to find loopholes or figure out how they might be able to stay together, but you won’t be able to predict the twists and turns of this couple’s journey. There is a guaranteed HEA with this book, but the ins and outs of getting there are beautiful. This is one of the best royal romances I’ve read to date! I can’t get enough of Claire’s writing and I can’t wait for Pilar’s story in The Naughty Princess!
DANG. Each and every book by Claire Contreras gets better and better. I cannot explain in enough words how amazing this book was! It checked ALL my boxes!!! And the cover was by far, one of the best and hottest I have seen this year.
Elias and Adeline were so magnetic together. The chemistry was beyond what I thought it would be from the very get go. I love reading romances about someone high up in the world and being attracted/in love with someone normal. I love that Adeline knew who she was and wasnt some wilting flower. And Elias, man oh man, I cannot see any reader NOT falling in love with that man!! I even loved the other characters in this story and hope they get books!
Royal romances are definitely starting to become one of my favorites now. All the scandals, paparazzi, and angst galore. Definite 5 star read for me and I cant wait to read more by this amazing author!!!
I absolutely could not stop smiling through this entire book! It is different from all the stories being put out lately and it was such a breath of fresh air. The characters were mostly well developed making me want more of all of them at some point! A refreshing and lighter royal tale you won’t want to miss. Adeline and Elias are together and I hope we do see more of all the royals.
Wow!! Five fantastic and amazing stars for The Sinful King. Damn this book was SO good and I want more of King Elias (especially him wink wink) and Adeline.
The Sinful King had an excellent plot, intriguing and engaging storyline that kept me on my toes. It was enchanting, romantic and so swoon worthy. This was definitely a naughty fairytale come true! The secondary characters were a wonderful addition to this book and I really hope that Ms. Contreras decides to write their stories.
This book gave me Prince Harry and Megan vibes. Great one sit read. Great characters and great world building. I always one click Claire. She never disappoints.
The Sinful King is a beautifully written romance story that captivates you from the prologue to the last page. You get passion, scandals, obstacles, angst, plot twists, undeniable chemistry, swoon-worthy moments, hot scenes, suspense, so many emotions, and it all wraps up with a great HEA.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
If your looking for royal trope this book is for you. This book is fun with not to much drama from time to time I like to read a lighter book and this book did it for me.
When I first started reading it, I wasn’t too sure it was to my liking. I had yet to form an opinion from the first 2-3 chapters. Then it quickly became an amazing 5 star story that consumed me until the very last page was read.
Adeline is in France for a while, after a scandal she needs to lay low for a while. Prince Elias from France is set to become king and mary into royalty but he can’t stay away from Adeline, a commoner.
After a couple chapters I was hooked. I thought at first that Adeline was just a dramatic characters and a push over. But she wasn’t, she really stood her ground with Elias. A strong character that I loved very much. It was an intriguing and highly entertaining story. A solid page turner. Beautifully written with an amazing storyline.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
I loved this book from the moment it began. I loved that we started out with Elias and Adeline steaming up the story from the first page. The fact that Adeline had no idea who he was until later on made their connection so much more real. Although later on we did get to see a few of Elias’ POV’s, I liked not knowing what he was thinking because that really made the reader feel the raw emotion like I did with Adeline. Does he remember her? Does he hate her? Was he jealous? While there was some courting I’m glad it wasn’t drawn out and they got to know each other without it just being a physical relationship. Don’t get me wrong you felt the sexual tension and every time they were together it felt like they wanted to rip each other clothes off, but their connection was so much more than that. While the chance of a commoner marrying a soon to be King is unrealistic, it felt real. It didn’t feel like I was reading a fairytale. Now, let’s talk about a story about Aramis and Joss!
I wrote this review based on an advance reading copy that the publisher sent me.
3.5 Stars!
The future king of France is not the person for Adeline. Falling for him would only break her heart while he’d be marrying the princess that the Queen chose for him. But the passion between won’t burn out this quick.
Will Adeline risk it all for the sinful king who owns her heart?
This was my first Claire book and I am definitely into her writing.
I think the dynamics and politics of French royalty was a fun departure from the Brit royalty we’re so used to. I actually really loved the fact that there weren’t any toxic female stereotypes in the royal family. It was such a big plus point and a very refreshing change.
While I really liked the story’s progression, I couldn not connect to even one character. I enjoyed how the story was written and portrayed but I could not invest myself in any of it. I will say that I am super excited about this universe and if we’ll be getting a book about Aramis, I’d be all over it asap.
Adeline and Elias met one night at a party where everyone was wearing masks to hide identity. Adeline felt a strong pull toward this man but didn’t know his name, would she act on her attraction? Elias life is pretty much planned out but will it change now that he’s met Adeline?
I need to be very honest with this and is that I don’t like this story as much as I love other Claire’s previous books.
I feel like this was a reflection of the gossip that is going on right now with the England monarchy. Lot’s of similarities regarding this couple with the now no more duchess of Sussex (at least for me), and that doesn’t bother me at all, I have my opinion about those two and is to do whatever makes them happy, so no problem here with that. What confused me a little is the places where this story is developing, correct me if I’m wrong but there’s no monarchy in France anymore, that keeps popping in my mind while I was reading. That on side, then this prince was not very catching my attention like normally happens with this author characters, he’s attitude is very hard to accept, don’t like the way he treat the heroine in most of the book, maybe just by the end he got me but not totally. Adeline, well I can go with her a little more but I wish she was a little more strong toward Elias, she deserves a better treatment from him. I hate that I love more the friends of this couple when I should be all over Addie and Eli, especially Etienne and Pierre, I found both of them very lovely and caring. Aramis intrigue me so I can’t wait to read he’s book.
In conclusion I liked it but I don’t get all crazy, is a very light read who keeps me wonder how things would end and if this couple would find they HEA, and they do, so yes I do recommended, I keep saying that we all have different opinions about the same book, so I encourage to read the book and come on with your own.
