From New York Times Bestselling Author, Claire Contreras, comes a new, sexy, 100% stand-alone novel . . . If you had any ties to Marbella, it was impossible for you not to have heard the stories about Prince Elias and his debauchery. Every summer he arrived with his security detail and friends in tow and rented out a row of cottages near the water. Cottages that belonged to my family. Each of … family.
Each of those summers, my parents sent me away – summer camp and later, boarding school. Anything to keep me away from the royals and their partying.
I hadn’t been home in years, but when I finally come back for the summer, I see that not much has changed. Like all the summers I’d been gone, Prince Elias is back, but this time with an incognito security detail and no friends. This time, there is no partying, no noise, no crowds. No reason at all to even think he was there.
I’m given strict orders not to talk to him, not to even look in his direction, but he makes this an impossible task. I may be doing everything in my power to stay away from him, but there is no one in the world who can say no to the future King of France.

I’m going to start by saying that royal romances are typically not my thing. Elias is not your normal prince or king, and Adeline is just a normal woman. I enjoyed seeing how they met and then how they tried to avoid their feelings for each other.
Royal romance fans, ASSEMBLE! Claire Contreras delivers an angsty, frothy, French romance that makes you sigh and swoon.
The prologue.
Let’s just say that Claire Contreras starts this book off in a way guaranteed to keep you turning the pages. Elias and Adeline’s chemistry scorches the pages from the start, investing you fully into their relationship.
But of course, this is a Claire Contreras book, so nothing will go easily for our future French king and the woman he wants. The scenes with Elias grumbling and growling with jealousy over Adeline are both hilarious and kind of sweet, and her jealousy over women clamoring to be his queen show you how deeply she yearns for him.
Parts of this book, though, feel disjointed. There were times when I thought a chapter was missing or I’d somehow flipped too many pages and skipped events and information I need. For instance, there is a subplot involving Elias’s private secretary that starts as one thing and then veers into a different direction with no explanation or elaboration. I’m left wondering how we got from here to there, a leap I had to make more than once.
Fortunately, Claire Contreras makes me care about Elias and Adeline, so the occasional mental gymnastics are a small hindrance. Give me royals and hot headboard rocking–as Claire Contreras does–and I am all in.
I love this book so much, I love royal romance and this one has one sexy Prince Charming. Adeline and Elias meet in interesting circumstances, then they meet again years later. The story captivated me, I couldn’t stop reading it until the end. I truly enjoyed their story, all the characters are amazing and worth exploring their stories in the future. It got a rollercoaster of emotions but you will love how everything unfolds. I would love to read more in this world soon.
The Sinful King was absolutely wonderful! It’s every girls dream to meet a royal and Claire’s telling of Elias and Adeline’s story is beautiful! Claire takes you on a journey of two people reunited after one wild night together. There’s lots of emotions in their story. It brought out all the feels! I loved SK and can’t wait to see what Claire releases next!!
Many girls dream of marrying a Prince but never expect that. Adeline just wants to get out of this scandal she found herself in and lay low at their villa in Marbella. Set with the task of taking care of her uncles failing bookstore and delivering a basket each day to the prince is all she is going to do. After her one night stand five years ago with Prince Elias she wants to avoid any face to face. Fate has other ideas.
Elias just needs space and time and the one woman he can’t get out of his mind. Responsibilities and traditions are not going to stop him from going after the girl he met five years ago. Can he convince Adeline that he can be her Prince Charming?
I couldn’t stop turning the page! Can’t wait for the next book!
Sooooo Sweet!!
I absolutely adore Claire Contreras, and I loved The Sinful King! Every time a new book comes out from Claire, I just have to read it immediately. And the Sinful King definitely was worth it!
This book was an epic romance… with the commoner and the prince falling in love.
Elias is France’s Daulphin (royal heir) and Adeline is the daughter of the Kings cabinet who is vocally against the crown. Her family owns the cottages that the royals like to stay in during the summer, and she first meets Elias at a party. She doesn’t know that it was him and they have a one night stand before she leaves to go to college in America. Several years later, she is back, hiding from a sex scandal, and Elias is once again staying at the cottage next door.
Their romance starts slow – we know that their both attracted to the other but since he’s the heir apparent, she knows that a romance between them would never be allowed… especially once his engagement to another is announced.
I loved this book for many reasons, and I can tell you that I had to think (and Google!) if there really were still a royal family in France (which, of course, there isn’t!). The story was beautifully written, and the trials that Adeline and Elias had to face were surmountable. It had an absolutely fabulous HEA!!!!
I highly recommend this book if you’re a sucker for a royal romance, or if you even like romance AT ALL. This book was definitely a 5 star read!
I recieved an ARC for my honest review.
I am so in love with this book I’ve been trying to figure out how exactly to put it into words that will do it justice, and I don’t know that I can. I fell IN LOVE with this couple, these 2 people, Adeline & Elias, from the beginning. When they’re first meeting was a mystery, when you know after, later on, that she knows, but you don’t know if he does. The emotions that play out, and there are many, grip you throughout. Elias has a life of responsibility, but can’t quite get Adeline out of his mind. And no matter how hard she tries, Elias is on her mind every second. A future king and a commoner. A fairytale in the making. I devoured this and can’t wait to devour it again!!!
This is a very sweet story. Adeline is a lovely character, she’s caring and kind and I really loved her. Elias took a bit of warming up too, he’s a little aloof to begin with but as we see more of his personality I came to love him too.
Elias lives a life beyond the average persons understanding and he really felt like he was drowning under the weight of his responsibilities. Adeline was the perfect antidote and her sassy attitude was just the medicine he needed to keep him grounded. She held him accountable for every action and I loved how smart she was.
They had loads of chemistry and every encounter felt natural and honest. Here’s a little bit of angst thrown in but was needed to give the story authenticity. I loved how Elias dealt with his new role and his love for Adeline definitely took priority.
The HEA is very satisfying and I look forward to the next story set in this world.
