Celebrate the release of A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood starring Tom Hanks with an inside look on Mr. Rogers’ spiritual legacy. It shows us a man who, to paraphrase the words of St. Francis of Assisi, “preached the gospel at all times; when necessary he used words.” Tom Brokaw of NBC Nightly News once said of the American icon Fred Rogers, “Mister Rogers was an ordained minister, but he … but he never talked about God on his program. He didn’t need to.”
Eight years before his death, Fred Rogers met author, educator, and speaker Amy Hollingsworth. What started as a television interview turned into a wonderful friendship spanning dozens of letters detailing the driving force behind this gentle man of extraordinary influence. Educator? Philosopher? Psychologist? Minister? Here is an intimate portrait of the real Mister Rogers.
The Simple Faith of Mr. Rogers focuses on Mr. Rogers’ spiritual legacy, but it is much more than that. It shows us a man who, to paraphrase the words of St. Francis of Assisi, “preached the gospel at all times; when necessary he used words.”

Very well written. A wonderful, fresh look at a most beloved character through his faith, this inspired mine. A building-faith book that is very easy to become involved in, and keep reading page after page.
Fantastic book about a wonderful man!
Well written, insights into an icon who impacted several generations with character and responsibility. He provided hope and joy into the lives of many.
I loved watching Mr. Rogers with my children. This in-depth discription of the man matches perfectly the man he seemed to be. To discover that Mr. Rogers was a very spiritual man just verified the spirit I saw as he spoke to children through the medium of TV in the kindest, most caring way. He managed to do what few adults can do, help children …
sweet insights to the man
What a tremendous man, and what a great story. I know there are other important books to read this year, but this is just good to read.
I was disappointed in this book. Maybe it was just me, but it seemed like it was “pretend deep” and not simple like Mr. Rogers. It seemed like the author was trying to be profound when it would have been more meaningful to embrace a more simplistic approach.
A delightful and interesting look at a man who was very influential in the lives of children as well as their parents.
Fred Rogers was in person the same as he presented himself on Mr Roger’s Neighborhood – authentic, relatable, a friend , especially to children.
