Will Trent is one of the most unique and interesting characters in today’s crime fiction. The combination of his vulnerability and his laser focus on the task at hand make Slaughter’s books irresistable.
I really love the way the characters are developed. You as a reader feel like you know the characters.
I couldn’t put it down, exciting and a difficult time to get anything else done but read. Love the characters in it.
Not her best, but still good.
Once again Karin Slaughter doesn’t disappoint! This book is great because it goes back and explores Sara’s relationship with Jeffery. You can’t help compare him to Will. I really see Will coming into his own in this book. He is finally assertive and not a puppy dog beaten down by the women around him. He finally knows what he wants and is not afraid to say it. Finally. Oh yeah, and they worked a murder case too.
Be prepared for a really horrific series of rapes and murders. If it weren’t for the great characters of Will Trent and Sara Linton, the medical examiner, I would have put this book down. But I’ve followed these characters for years and we finally find out some of Sara’s back story. It’s a must read for Slaughter’s fans.
I skipped most of the gory detailed autopsy stuff, and sometimes the characters were drawn a little too subtly (thinking of Will here) and I had not read any of the other books. But it was a good plotline, tho I guessed whodunit before it was revealed. Maybe I was supposed to….
Another great book in this series.
Karen Slaughter is one of my go to authors. Her books are always hard to put down.
No character is safe from elimination in Slaughter-world, so you never know what to expect.
The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter is #10 in the Will Trent series. I love to read this series through the audio version, the narrator perfectly times her inflictions for each character– it adds so much more to the book. Kathleen Early is such a good narrator.
Will and Sara, I can say that Jeffery’s demise upset me so much–there were 4 Will Trent books out before I gave the series a chance. Will is such a sweet but tortured soul–he is perfect for Sara, though I an not certain she is perfect for him. This is a great addition to the series! I like the working relationship as much as their personal one. So good to keep up with Amanda and Faith ,too.
I really really liked this book I read it all within 2 days I couldn’t put it down. It was a great crime story with a twist of an end. I highly recommend reading this book if your in to crime thrillers!
A very graphic suspense story with Karin Slaughter at her finest! I love her main characters, Will, Sara, Amanda and Faith and how they all interact. This story moved through the past and present in different chapters and we finally saw more of Sara’s first husband, Jeffrey.
Wow! This is an entertaining, fast paced, well-written, intense and gripping thriller.
One of her best books. Can’t wait for the next Will Trent book.
Omg. This book was incredible. I adore Will & Sara. This story was so intense. Could not put it down. Ms. Slaughter writes some of the most gripping interesting novels I’ve read. Outstanding series
I always enjoy Karin Slaughter!! I enjoyed the revisiting if history revolving around Sarah Linton and Jeffrey Tolliver- her dead husband, and Will Trent – her current love interest.
Karin Slaughter never writes a bad or even a mediocre book. However, I found myself so looking forward to each Grant County chapter…I’ve missed Jeffrey. I know that Will treats Sara better, but I was so very fond of Jeffrey, so I was glad to see him back at times.
Good story, lots of twists and turns, loved it in spite of it making me want to look over my shoulder when I leave the house. I was shocked by the ending…didn’t see it coming at all. Highly recommended, though not for folks with weak stomachs.
If you haven’t read any of the earlier books, I’d recommend you begin with Blindsighted, the first Grant County book. Don’t even think about starting with the Will Trent series, because you’ll miss a lot.
I love Karin Slaughter’s books. Especially the Will Trent series so I was really looking forward to this book. Unfortunately, I didn’t find it nearly as good as the other books in the series. I didn’t like Jeffery at all and the way Sara still had feelings for him so many years after his death.
I’m glad I read it but would not recommend it.
WOW! Karin Slaughter books are like a rollercoaster, that you can’t get off of until the end. What starts out as a prison riot, leads to a clash between some of Sara Linton’s most painful memories, her rape and some murder cases in Grant Country while she was divorced from Sheriff Jeffrey Tolliver, her relationship with her boyfriend Will Tent and the realization that those old cases were only the beginning of a serial killer’s work. But my favorite line is “With Will, Sara was keenly aware that she was the only woman on earth who could love him the way he deserved to be loved”
