I love all of Karin Slaughter’s books! Plus I have reread them several times
I think I found my new series.
I love Will & Sara and look forward to every new book.
I love the Saga of the two main characters in this series, Will with the FBI and Sarah , the doctor and medical examiner.
Excellent
If you are a fan of the relationship building of Sara and Will, then this book is for you. There is something about two people, so in love yet so unsure of the other’s feelings, that makes for an interesting read. The underlying story about a murderer who implicates Sara’s deceased husband in a police cover up is interesting as well. I recommend this book!
I have become addicted to Karin Slaughter and her unforgettable characters. Her Grant County series and her Will Trent novels captivated me. I have read all of her books since the Coronavirus scare began in mid-March. I highly recommend both series. Warning: The stories are grizzly and not for the faint of heart.
I am a fan of Karin Slaughter and her characters Will Trent & Sara Lindley, so I have been waiting for this newest addition to the series. The plot twists & turns as facts & clues are revealed and the relationship between Will & Sara continues to grow. Slaughter did something different by going back & forth between past with Sara’s first love, Sheriff Jeffery Tolliver & a case that has risen from the dead, so to speak, and the present day crimes. She does this quite well, and it didn’t frustrate me with a continual flip-flopping that has left me frustrated at being cut off.
I do consider that Slaughter overkilled with details in certain scenes, got a little too technical with the medical facts, & used too many initials without an initial identification of the organization. (I’m sure that they have appeared in earlier novels, but it has been over a year since the last novel in the series.)
Slaughter promises more Will & Sara stories, but I’m not for sure if that is what I would want since sometimes the romance between couples overrides the good mystery, which has not yet been the case with these books.
I absolutely loved The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter. Karin Slaughter has once again shown that she is a master storyteller. The Silent Wife is the tenth book in the Will Trent series and this one is my favorite book in the series. The Silent Wife is the story of Sara Linton, medical examiner and Will Trent, an investigator with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI). The Silent Wife takes places in current day Atlanta and eight years ago in Grant County. After a murder takes place at the local prison, an inmate, Daryl Nesbitt, tells Will and Faith Mitchell, his partner that he was proof that the murders that he is suspected of committing eight years ago are still occurring in other areas in Georgia. I loved that flashback scenes from eight years ago, because I have always loved Jeffrey Tolliver. I enjoyed reading the history about what happened between Sara and Jeffrey that lead to their divorce. I loved all the interactions between Sara and Jeffrey. The GBI investigates the cases that Daryl had given them and have concluded the similarities between a current case and those committed eight years ago. All the deaths were listed as accidental deaths. Sara retrieves Jeffrey’s notebooks hoping to find a clue. Sara and Will are having some issues with their relationship, Sara did not like the way Will asked her to marry him. Sara’s memories of Jeffrey and the Grant County victims, is adding additional tension to their relationship. I love how the title to The Silent Wife is incorporated into the story. I was totally surprised by the identity of the serial rapist/murderer. Would never have guessed his identify until his first victim’s remembers a detail from the of her attack and a statement made by the guilty party. The Silent Wife is filled with all the characters that I have grown to love and all the bittersweet and poignant moments as well as the surprise plot twists that I have come to love and expect in Karin Slaughter’s books. The Silent Wife did not disappoint. I loved the surprise between Sara and Will, but my favorite part was the Author’s Note and all the details and spoilers that Karin Slaughter shared. I especially loved her remark about Jeffrey and Will. Another incredible Karin Slaughter book.
It had an ending I did not expect. Enjoyed the read.
I’ve read all of Karin Slaughters books. Will and Sara are some of my favorite characters, I was there when it was Sara and Jeffrey. The story moves at a fast clip and keeps you engaged. My big problem with most authors nowadays is the OVER use of profanity. It really kills the otherwise great reading for me. There was some pretty bad editing at about chapter 29. It got a bit confusing. If you can overlook the flaws, I think you will enjoy reading it.
Jeffery is back… Will and Sarah are going threw a very hard time. Leena is terrible as always… Amanda and Faith are wonderful characters as always.
This is the best book I’ve read by this author in a long time. That probably has a lot to do with Jeffrey Tolliver. It’s no secret that I was devastated when he was killed off. Man Ho or not I loved his character.
I still love Will and Sara together.
“Sara was loath to compare the two great loves of her life, but there was one very stark difference between them: With Jeffrey, Sara had known that there were dozens, possibly hundreds of other women who could love him just as intensely as she did.
With Will, Sara was keenly aware that she was the only woman on earth who could love him the way that he deserved to be loved.”
This story is raw and gritty with its uncomfortable subject. There are some graphic descriptions that are not for the faint of heart.
Switching back and forth between the past and present was in my opinion perfect.
This book is takes me back to why I fell in love with this series.
This is the absolutely best Will Trent book that I have read, and I have read all of them! In this mesmerizing suspense thriller, Will pairs up with an entire FBI team, including all of my favorite characters. Sara Linton is the medical examiner who is the love of Will’s life, even though part of her heart still belongs to her deceased husband, former Sheriff Jeffrey Tolliver. Amanda is the head of the FBI team, a boss who is doggedly determined to find out the truth of the crimes. And Faith Mitchell, Will’s sidekick in the FBI, is his calming influence. The crimes are gruesome, with the graphic details of the torture included by the author. Slaughter has certainly done her research with this book as the details clearly demonstrate! Young women are being stalked, set out in the woods with a paralyzing agent and raped repeatedly. Then they are left to die. The consensus is that the perpetrator is in prison already, but why are there more victims after his incarceration? This is the hard question that Will, Faith and Sara are charged to answer. The time frame is the past, with the investigation of Jeffrey Tolliver resulting in Darryl Nesbitt’s conviction, and the present, with the current FBI team trying to find out if Jeffrey’s investigation was flawed. The loose ends of Sara’s relationship with Jeffrey is tied up by the end of this book, and I was delighted to discover many intricate details about their past lives together. The investigation goes down some really twisted trails, and the author did a masterful job of engaging me in it. I loved this book and everything about it. Even the gruesome details of the torture were necessary for the atmosphere and for the background of the case. Fans of crime thrillers and dark suspense will love this book. It can be read as a standalone, but my recommendation is to read this series in order.

‘The Silent Wife’ is the tenth book in the Will Trent series by internationally bestselling author, Karin Slaughter, slated for release on August 4th, 2020. Her previous novel, ‘The Last Widow,’ was a #1 Sunday Times bestseller. She’s sold over 35 million copies across 120 countries worldwide.. and believe it or not, this is the first of them I’ve read.
You have to forgive me, her first novel was being published in 2001.. at a time things in my life were getting just a bit wild. That only really began to come to a halt last year and now I’m just getting to a lot of great authors who were breaking at a time reading was just not happening. That being said, I’ve heard a ton of praise for her work and she absolutely lives up to the hype.
The story follows Will Trent, a GBI investigator with demons of his own to wrangle, as he ends up at a state prison to look into a murder that occurs there during a riot. While he and his co-workers are beginning to piece together what might have happened and who may have been involved, another prisoner reaches out with information to trade.
Claiming his innocence, the prisoner offers them a plethora of details in exchange for his request that they investigate a death that seems to mimic one he was accused of eight years earlier. He insists that the young woman who was brutally attacked and left for dead is the work of another and that he believes he has proof the attacker is still active.
Slaughter’s pacing is superb. She does a wonderful job of shifting between non-linear timelines and multiple narrators, giving the reader both the backstory and the current lay of the land simultaneously. Both timelines move with a steady, parallel rhythm that continues forward smoothly. Transitions are seamless, characters have their own distinct voices, and they’re all fascinating in their own right.
I definitely have a soft spot for characters like Will and I can see why he’d be part of a series with such longevity. I’m certainly interested in going back and reading some of the other titles. His childhood was rough and his relationships as an adult have mostly been toxic too. It’s easy to see how badly he could have turned out, if not for second chances and a grim determination to make something of himself. He’s still a little broken.. and he’s not the only one.
His girlfriend Sara has had some tough moments too. She didn’t get the difficult start Will did, but there’s absolutely a point in her life where everything changed for her.. and those changes have affected her daily life in long term ways. Through it all, she remains compassionate and incredibly likeable.
None of Slaughter’s characters are infallible. In fact, most of them feel very real. I found myself comparing them to people I know. Some of them try the reader’s patience far more than others, however, and I had several theories as I made my way through this book. Ultimately, I enjoyed every step of the journey. I’m pretty solidly versed in procedural information and she still pulled out a few things I’d never heard before.
There may be some triggers here if you’re sensitive to violence. The assaults are vicious. The premeditation and methodology are the stuff of nightmares. But wow, what a read.
If you want to pick up an intriguing mystery/suspense novel that will hold your interest all the way through, ‘The Silent Wife’ is a good choice.

Will and Sarah are back!
I loved this book so much. It was so beautiful written with so many twists and turns, so much guessing who did it and how many secrets and pieces of the puzzle are unveiled with each chapter.
Trying to balance professional life and personal one is not always easy especially when there’s so much more to work on personal level.
I’m addicted to this series and I can’t recommend it enough.
