Because I love British crime novels, I started reading this one. Imagine my surprise when the book caught me by surprise. I loved it. It reminded me of Agatha Christie in a more contemporary setting. I can’t wait for her next book.
This sis the first book I’ve read by Ann Troup, but it won’t be the last.

Smooth transition from chapter to chapter , event to event. A few surprises will keep you turning the page until the end. Great for a day curled up with a book a fuzzy blanket and a cup of your favorite brew.
Excellent!
There were quite a few twists in this book. Quite an experience – who wanted to finish it, but then you were sorry when it was all gone…
It started out interesting and about half way, it turned into a true page turner! I loved it because of unexpected twists and turns. I highly recommended it!
Lots of twists and turns right up to the end.
If it weren’t for a very frustrating ending, I would have given this book more stars. It was a very original, but seriously twisted thriller. There were so many dark plots going on with all the different characters – each with their own set of secrets and lies – that it became a bit confusing keeping up toward the end as everything snowballed. Totally interesting, and with all the bizarre twists & turns, you will be sucked in with the first few chapters. My frustration came with the ending. Sometimes, after all the chapters of craziness, you just need a little resolution – this one didn’t deliver. No plot spoilers here, but it could have been resolved differently with a much more satisfying end. Just my opinion – you’ll need to read and decide for yourself. Bottom line – you’ll be entertained. 🙂
WOW! I just finished reading this book and it’s a winner! It has everything you could hope for. From secret family history, abortion, rape, murder, arson all wrapped up into one. Ann Troup is a great story teller. I’m looking forward to reading another of her books called The Lost Child. I read the excerpt at the end of this story and it looks like another winner.
Moderately entertaining
Very interesting story. The characters are intriguing – the tension between them that grow into relationships, some surprising, some gratifying. There are enough twists to keep one guessing. Very enjoyable.
A real page-turner. Enjoyed the book very much.
