THE FIRST NOVEL IN THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING JANE HAWK SERIES Meet Jane Hawk—a remarkable new heroine certain to become an icon of suspense. “This gripping thriller grabs readers from the first few pages and sweeps them along to the rousing finale.”—Booklist “I very much need to be dead.”These are the chilling words left behind by a man who had everything to live for—but took his own life. … behind by a man who had everything to live for—but took his own life. In the aftermath, his widow, Jane Hawk, does what all her grief, fear, and fury demand: find the truth, no matter what.
People of talent and accomplishment, people admired and happy and sound of mind, have been committing suicide in surprising numbers. When Jane seeks to learn why, she becomes the most-wanted fugitive in America. Her powerful enemies are protecting a secret so important—so terrifying—that they will exterminate anyone in their way.
But all their power and viciousness may not be enough to stop a woman as clever as they are cold-blooded, as relentless as they are ruthless—and who is driven by a righteous rage they can never comprehend. Because it is born of love.
Don’t miss any of Dean Koontz’s gripping Jane Hawk thrillers:
THE SILENT CORNER • THE WHISPERING ROOM • THE CROOKED STAIRCASE • THE FORBIDDEN DOOR • THE NIGHT WINDOW
Praise for The Silent Corner
“Gripping . . . The paranoia and mystery increase as the story unfolds. . . . Koontz has created [a] wonderful character in Jane Hawk. . . . Koontz rocks it again.”—Associated Press
“In this era of stingy text-message prose, Mr. Koontz is practically Shakespeare. . . . The Silent Corner brims with both action and emotion.”—Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
“The Silent Corner is vintage Dean Koontz: paranoia-fueled suspense . . . sleek and highly realized action, developed characters, and more twists and turns than any two ordinary novels combined. . . . As relevant to current events as it is audacious . . . amongst Dean Koontz’s finest contemporary work.”—Mystery Scene
“A proven specialist in action scenes, Koontz pulls off some doozies here. . . . The book is full of neat touches. . . . And the prose, as always in a Koontz novel, is first-rate. Perhaps Koontz’s leanest, meanest thriller, this initial entry in a new series introduces a smart, appealing heroine who can outthink as well as outshoot the baddest of bad dudes.”—Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

Love this author. And am now hooked on Jane Hawk!
Dean Koontz is one of my favorite authors. If you like his books you will enjoy this one too! He never disappoints me with his writing.
I’ve been a longtime fan of this author, and read nearly everything he’s written. Jane Hawk, his newest hero, provides a haunting portrait of a widowed mother faced with protecting her child from unimaginable evil. Of course, nobody in power believes her–or may even be in on the atrocity–and so Jane goes off the grid to right the wrong that killed her husband and virtually enslaved countless others. Her FBI background gives her resources, but the most endearing help comes from the quirky real-life characters she meets along the way. This is first in a series, shining a light on suicide, paranoia, and grief–and what a “perfect future” might entail. *shudder* HIGHLY recommended!
I love this book and couldn’t wait to read the next book in the series. A winner!
I thought Silent Cornor by Dean Koonz was an excellent book. It is filled with an imagination of what could possibly end up true. Not in the future but today. You could be sleeping, and all of a sudden u would get the erge to wake up and kill your whole family because a voice in your head tells you so, or you could get a phone call from someone telling you to hunt a friend down and kill them. You never remember these commends only when you fight them, then the voice or erge returns. Jane Hawks search for the cause or explaination of these unexplained deaths creates ememies for her and she finds out her best friend and boss is after her and she is placed on a hit list. I love the action and the character Jane Hawk. I am definitely going to read books 2 and 3.
Scary concept of mind control in Dean Koontz book. Haven’t read him in a long time, I like the fact that to me this seemed entirely possible.
5 books in a series, each one is very easy to read. The lead character is really something
It was so good, I have read #2 #3 and I am reading #4. I may have to read them all again!
Typically different Dean Koontz
Awesome read!!
Awesome read. I highly recommend this one!
Couldn’t put this book down! Read the entire series
Didn’t want to get hooked on the series… but now I am. Great character building by Kootz, as usual. Now I HAVE to read them all as he continues with this wonderful character.
Great
Every one of Dean Koontz’s books I have read (most of them published since 2000, the year of his reversion to Catholicism) have made me marvel, laugh at the absurdity of humanity’s pride, be filled with proper fear, squirm in my sinfulness, and repent. His work is a true horror, meant to entertain, yes, but also to bring the reader to reconciliation with God. And he does provide some great laughs along the way–a skilled mixture of bathos and pathos. Drawing from Flannery O’Connor’s discussion of Biblical exegesis applied to literature in her essay “The Nature and Aim of Fiction,” every one of his books can be considered literally, allegorically, typologically, and anagogically. His new Jane Hawk series is no exception. I strongly recommend reading Flannery’s essay and then reading this first book in the series.
love his story telling

Can’t wait for the next one. Character’s are great I’ve got know what happens to the mother and her son.
