A Wall Street Journal bestseller.

Files reveal the murder victim, Reuben Braswell, was a radical conspiracist. In his home, investigators find pages of diatribes against law enforcement as well as ties to Mason’s fiancée, FBI special agent Ava McLane. The victim was her informant—and had strong reasons to be paranoid.
To Ava, Braswell’s rants were those of a wearying and harmless man…until they collide with her investigation into the murders of police officers and finding the connection becomes urgent. Meanwhile, Braswell’s brother and Ava’s twin sister both disappear, and disturbing acts of sabotage target Ava’s personal life.
For Mason and Ava, the brutal crimes and escalating mysteries create a perfect storm for a terrorist conspiracy that becomes dangerously personal—one that has yet to claim its last victim.

Twists and turns and just when you think you have it figured out BAM! it turns again. Ava and Mason are tangled into the same case when Mason’s murder case turns out to be one of Ava’s CI. In the house there is evidence pointing towards a bombing and when law enforcement converges shots are fired and Mason’s partner, Ray, is wounded before he can put his vest on and several other deputies are taken out. It was not a bombing but a targeted shooting. So begins the mystery of who, what, where, and why of it. Oh, and Ava’s twin, Jane is back in the picture. All this with the wedding coming up. Will they make it to the wedding finally? This one was so good and I consumed it in one afternoon!
The Silence is Book 2 of Kendra Elliot’s Columbia River series. These stories stand perfectly fine on their own. I haven’t had a chance to read Mason and Ava’s story yet but I followed along nicely. As typical with this author’s books, this story was fast-paced, intriguing and engaging right from the start. Lots of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Great story!

I really enjoyed this book which was the second in the Columbia River series. I liked how it looked deeper into Ava and Mason’s story. I really enjoy the two of them paired together as a couple. I also love how Ava deals with her sister and all the crazy things she does and how she tries to help her no matter what. This book was also I testing because it brought in a favorite character from another series so it was fun to see the crossover.
This story get the reader in the edge of their seat from the start with a bloody murder and a trap for cops that leads to a number of deaths and it goes pedal to the medal from there. There are a number of plot turns that you don’t see coming and the book ends with the wedding we having been waiting for when Mason and Ava finally say their vows. This is an excellent book by Kendra Elliot!
The Silence gets five out of five stars!
I loved this book as much as i loved the first one in the series.
The fast paced and never ending twists and turns made for a perfect afternoon with some of my favourite characters.
I love when i found authors that manage to make my imagination run wild and prove that my theories aren’t correct even if they lead us to a different ending.
Suspenseful , thrilling and it felt like watching the best crime serial on tv.
A ruse leads to a major tragedy.
Oregon State Police Detective Mason Callahan and his partner Detective Ray Lusco are called to a grizzly murder scene. A man had been bludgeoned to death in his home. The next door neighbor may have scared the murderer away when she knocked on the back door of Reuben Braswell’s house and saw a broken window and lots of blood. During the crime scene investigation a folder was found with pages of anti-police rants and at the very end plans for the federal courthouse and talk about a bomb set for that very afternoon. The alarm went out and many officers were dispatched to clear the courthouse. As it turned out the bomb scare was a ruse to scramble the police for something else…
Detective Callahan returned to Braswell’s neighborhood the day after the murder to talk to a neighbor who hadn’t been home the day before. Kaden Schroeder mentioned seeing a silver Mustang in Braswell’s driveway a couple of times recently. Could that be the murderer’s car?
The Silence by Kendra Elliot is the second book in her Columbia River series. This is a thrilling suspense story. The action is non-stop. Ms. Elliot’s pacing is just right. This author sets up the conflict and then methodically writes the storyline for a very satisfying resolution. I loved how characters from previous books were woven into the story. I was especially pleased and quite surprised to see Mercy Kilpatrick play a role in the story.
This breathtaking tale is filled with twists, turns and red herrings at such speed that will confuse thrill and leave you spent. The author writes such vivid characters you feel like you know them. This story sucked me in from the first line to the last.
Ava and Mason are back! I love these characters and it was great to have another story. The case they are involved in has a lot of twists that kept me guessing. The book was quick paced and I enjoyed every minute. All my favorite characters made an appearance plus there was the wedding! I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Twist, turns galore! I really enjoyed book 2 more than book 1. Maybe cause it had Mercy in it, I don’t know, but it had the works and was a one sitting read for me. It held me captive. It starts with a gruesome murder and races off to a bombing (or is it) at the courthouse. I love watching them work their way through crime scenes, the thoughts that go through their heads, the second guessing and the pounding of the pavement. It brings more understanding to what law enforcement deals with and goes through, something we all need to be more aware of. There were a couple jaw dropping moments for me and the whole book was wrapped up with a fantastic ending. This can be read as a stand a lone. If you haven’t yet add Kendra Elliot to your auto buy 🙂 Thank you Montlake, Netgalley and Kendra Elliot for the arc and taking me away from life as it is. All thoughts and opinions are my own and I freely volunteer to share them.
