In the wilds of Transylvania a legend is about to be born, as a wolf pack race through the bitter snows, to find a birthing den for two cubs, one black, one white. In the birth of Fell, and his sister Larka, a race is on to defeat the wicked Morgra, and to come to terms with the extraordinary powers of The Sight. A book both for adults and children, with powerful and complex themes, new author … afterword and introduction to Phoenix Ark Press.

*spoilers-ish. kinda vague, mostly spoiling as a trigger warning*
I’m not typically one for animal-centered books, so I’ll likely not recommend all that many, but I’ll definitely made an exception for at least this. I fell in love with so many of the characters. As such, I spent half the book bawling. Right through the bitter end, man. I was crying when I finished. I still enjoyed the heck outta the book. I love action mixed with fantasy and this was definitely that.
I actually read the book twice. Bought two copies soon after returning the libraryh one I borrowed. Gave one copy to my wolf-loving friend and lent the book to a friend. And I haven’t seen it since, haha. Might buy another and use the lent out one as a “pass around”. Would be worth the $$$. Would make sure it’s print too and I hardly buy actual book – that aren’t cheap +/- used – anymore….
While currently, I don’t do “favourites” (*whispers* mostly ’cause I’ve become increasingly more indecisive lol), this was my fave book in high school. Read it when everyone else was reading Twilight, which I couldn’t get into. But I digress, I’d recommend The Sight to anyone who who likes a good action-packed fantasy-ridden adventure (caveat: there’s a lot of death. so if that’s a deal-breaker, as understandably some may not want to deal with that topic in their free time, then maybe pass).
It’s been a few years since I last read it, but romance didn’t seem to be a big thing in it. It may have been there a little bit, but I don’t remember. Mostly was a Good Vs. Evil plot that had a twist that both intrigued me and broke my heart to pieces.
I would not recommend to young children either. PG-13 in book terms, I’d say… Maybe okay for middle schoolers whom lean on the more mature side than is the norm, but definitely not if they are the sensitive delicate flower type as the book would “destroy” them.
Maybe I’m a masochist but the fact I cried (or was at least tearing up) during more than half the book made me like it more. So yeah, I guess I’d call it a tear-jerker. Though I’m a fairly sensitive person. So maybe I cried more than a normal hardened reader would. I cry during books, movies, tv – you name it – a lot. The resulting endorphins (released hormone that makes you feel happy/relaxed if you didn’t know) aren’t too shabby though so can’t complain too much.
Apparently, there is a sequel. I did not know that! I’ll have to look into it. Fell, which is the name of the sequel it seems, was my fave character in the sight so I’m excited. 😀
Davis Clement-Davies writes for wolves like Richard Adams wrote for rabbits in “Watership Down” it’s a good read.
This is definitely a book for fantasy and animal lovers!!
A really good story that combines some realistic elements of the wolf with a fantasy type story. A really good book for anyone that likes wolves and animal adventure stories.
