This is arguably the best romance I’ve ever read. It’s very long, but it draws the reader in and the reader enjoys every page. This book is a powerful reminder of the power of true love. Love, true love, spans time and distance. Two young people fall in live, though separated by continents and years, they find each other. Despite everything …
I thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in the Italian Alps and the lives of the wonderful characters we find there, and when the story jumps to America, it’s just as good. A beautiful saga of two young people, their families, friends, trials, and joys.
One of the most thought provoking books I’ve read. If you can have patience with descriptions that may go on more then you want, the story will be worth the read. I have dry eyes that do not make tear I had my first real tears in almost a decade.
All of her books are wonderful, but this was the very first one I read and I simply couldn’t put it down. I was transformed into the story and didn’t want it to end.
I love Trigiani’s books, but this is my favorite. It’s a beautiful story of love, devotion and the struggle to adapt and succeed in a new country.
Picked this up on discount because 1. the cover is gorgeous, 2. the reviews were really positive, and 3. it is by a NYT best selling author which is generally a good recommendation for trying a new book! Kathryn Stockett (The Help) wrote the cover blurb which is another recommendation! This is a historical novel of Italian immigrants to the US …
The characters in the Shoemaker’s Wife are based on the lives of Ms Trigiani’s own family and for me that had a part in bringing the story to life. I am a product of Italian immigrants who came through Ellis Island and also headed west to the mines. Ciro’s and Enza’s love was inspiring and beautiful. The sorrows they endured were sorrows …
One of the most beautiful love stories Ever written! Adrianna’s writing brings you to The Italian Alps where you are eating warm crusted Italian bread, fresh from the oven with Ciro and his brother as they are being raised by the nuns after being abandoned by their heartbroken mom, who secluded herself a stone throw away from her loves. After …
I love so many of Adrianna’s books it’s hard to chose my favorites! I just left my public library and I stood and looked at all Adrianna’s books again. Pulling each one off the shelf and admiring the covers and reading the descriptions! I own several and consider them art! You can’t go wrong with her books!
An excellent portrayal of the immigrant experience, this book shows how hard work and strong family and friendships led to success for the immigrants of the early 1900s. The characters are so real that you laugh and cry with them.
Very disappointing. Have enjoyed the Big Stone Gap series and this seemed as if it would be similar, but incredibly trivial dialogue, predictable relationship issues and resolutions and silly people.
I love all of her books, but this one is a favorite!
My Grandparents all immigrated from Italy. Italian was spoken in my home between My Nonnie & my Mom, so while reading the occasional Italian word I would hear their voices. I have enjoyed the author’s storytelling and look forward tomore of her novels.
One of my favorite Adriana Trigiani books!
Loved this story.
It’s on my Favorite books of all times list, I recommend it to everyone!
This is one of my favorite books. I truly enjoyed this book from cover to cover.
One of my favorite books of all time. Very well written, a great story, and clean.
This was such an amazing book. It combined romance with a nice historic element about immigrants working hard to change their life for the better. There are too many good things I have to say about this book. I honestly wish I could erase my memory so I could reread it without knowing what’s going to happen.
This book tells of the rough time immigrants had adapting to the American way of life, but above all they wanted to be Americans and blend in with the society. It tells of realistic difficult times. One of the main characters served in WWI and as a result dies of lung cancer because of being exposed to Mustard Gas during the war. They wanted to …
