Loved this.
One way to capture a husband.
Twists and turns — and a wonderful child who sees innocence and beauty everywhere. Who could ask for more? Ohh yes! Sensuality. I don’t give away plots, nor do I go into a lot of critique; I just say if I really enjoy it or not and give the barest reason. If I mention that it’s a wonderful evening of reading, that the author allows the reader to live in the story, would that be enough? Because I certainly did. I wish we had more of the male protagonists here in this century!
This book was written from the point of view of a young mother, which I enjoyed very much. It was more realistic for the time period & not every single woman was always a “young maid” a waiting marriage. Come along and for an exciting break it’s always a good time to read a good book.
I read this book a few years ago and it still sticks with me. A brave, strong heroine and the love she finds with her enemy.
What an edge of your seat, nailbiting story. I was entranced from the beginning. Avril, a Pictish woman, does everything in her power to protect her daughter, Kimbery. Until fate throws Brandr, a Viking warrior, on their shore. What’s is Avril to do? A man she doesn’t trust is now in her keep. But can she keep herself from falling for this Viking or does she keep her heart locked and guarded to protect herself and her daughter? I honestly root for Brandr to soften Avril and the three of them to become a family. Does this happen you ask? You will have to read The Shipwreck to find out. Glynnis Campbell does an awesome job of writing this book and adding the Norse gods in the story. I can’t wait to read more about Avril and Brandr.
Washed ashore, Brandt the Viking is captured by the beautiful Pict Avril and her wee daughter Kimberly. Having lost his wife and children to disease and his men in the shipwreck, he feels deep despair. But a beautiful strong woman and her trusting child gave him hope. How can two people from different cultures make a life together? *****
This book was a wonderful introduction to two worlds that come together at the wish of a young girl. You have a Viking warrior who is shipwreck and hurt. He taken prisoner by a woman who is is a Mother and a Warrior. Our Viking warrior has a lot to learn about women warriors and our mother has to learn how to trust again.
Loved this quick to read book! Has challenge, great characters, and love! Such a good book.
I couldn’t put it down ! I absolutely loved it! Very good characters and lots of action!
