I read the shining 40 years ago. It was really well written. Yes saw the movie book is so much better you really learn everything about the characters
Not my favorite Stephen King but still a good one.
One of the scary books of all time . much scarier than the movie.
Vintage Stephen King at his best!
love this. really fond of most of Steven Kings books. the movie was good too….but the book is a lot better!!
The only book I ever read that actually scared me.Creepy from the first chapter and WAY better than the movie.
One of King’s all time best. If you haven’t read it yet— my only wuesrion is. what have you been waiting for?
Fantastic read, with fantastic characters. The movie did not do this book justice and I recommend it for everybody.

An earlier Stephen King hit. A page turner.
One of King’s best!
Classic horror!!!!
Read the book, ignore the movie
If you love Stephen King this book is a must read, if you have never read one of his books this is a good place to start!
Loved it!
Must read

My favorite King. This one has everything; ghosts, beautiful surroundings, wilderness, unrelenting violence. All written in poetic prose by the master in his prime. Also, not a massive, drawn-out story which he is sometimes known for. I like my books short and to the point and this one delivers.
This book scared the pants off of me when my sister read excerpts aloud to me. I had to turn the lights on everywhere I went in the house!
The Shining turns a beautiful and tranquil setting upside down and makes you wonder about your own mind and how it plays tricks on you.
