Jack Torrance’s new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he’ll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote… and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible … forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five year old.

Wonderful work by Stephen King! This is one of his earlier works which I would recommend to anyone who likes Stephen King’s work. Very difficult to put down
One of the best of Stephen King’s novels. Detailed enough to take you away from your day-to-day life and invest in an alternate reality with all of the Stephen King accoutrements.
Creepy and scary. It illustrates how wrong things go when you loose your mind and what the power of what your mind can do.
Great read. I remember the day I was reading in a very quiet room. I was intensively involved in the book. The phone rang and I almost fell out of the chair. Very scary but could not put it down.
Very entertaining! Had to stop some nights and put it away when it was too scary. Great read

Very creepy.
Love Stephen King, I have read this book several times. Great read.
Holy cow. Talk about being afraid to stay in a hotel again. Don’t forget about the sequel “Doctor Sleep.”
Really is my favorite King story…
Scary
Omg! I had to hide this book when I wasn’t reading it! Scared me to death and I loved every minute!
I read it when I was in my early 20’s in my first apartment. I slept with the light on for about a week. LOL!
THIS IS ONE OF STEPHAN KINGS BEST BOOKS IN MY OPINION. VERY SKILLFULLY WRITTEN AND GREAT CHARACTERS. VERY SUSPENSEFUL.
one of my favorite stories.
I loved this book. It scared me so much I had to have the lights on, even during the day!
A thousand times better than the movie!!
