Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. The tourists think it’s all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better. Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all. For romance writer Roxy St. James, living in Nocturne Falls also means … James, living in Nocturne Falls also means a fresh start. And as soon as her unbearable ex signs the divorce papers, that new beginning will be a reality. Unfortunately, her ex doesn’t seem ready to let her go and the subtle threats he’s been making leave her no choice but to confide in her oh-so-handsome neighbor, who just happens to be a deputy with the sheriff’s department.
But Officer Alex Cruz isn’t just the law. He’s also a panther shifter, a secret he’s sworn to keep (along with the truth about Nocturne Falls) from the very foxy Roxy. Humans aren’t supposed to know the town is filled with supernaturals. Then she starts seeing things she shouldn’t and thinks she’s losing her mind. His attraction—and concern—for her wars with the promise he’s made.
Will his truth be more than she can handle? Or will it cause her to write him out of her life?

The Shifter Romances The Writer is book six in the Nocturne Falls series by Kristen Painter. This was another fun light-hearted read in the Nocturne Falls series.
Nocturne Falls is a fun town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. How cool is that? We are treated to a verity of different supernaturals and each book gives us a new couple to fall in love with.
Roxy St James is a romance writer, divorced and look for a new start. She moves to Nocturne Falls for that new start and to reconnect with an old friend from college, Delany, who we meet in The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride. Thou things are not as they seem and she soon starts to see things and wonders if she’s going crazy.
Alex Cruz is an officer of the law and a panther shifter who is sworn to keep the towns secret, yet his new neighbor brings out his protective instincts. He wants to tell her that she’s not going crazy, but humans are not to know about the supernaturals in Nocturne Falls. What will this shifter do?
Both Roxy and Alex where relatable. I real likes Roxy. She’s strong, capable, and determined to get her life back on track and find herself again. I like that we see what a toxic relationship can do and how instead of staying she gets herself out and gains her life back. I also really liked Alex. He’s wonderful, sweet, and protective in a good way. I loved meeting his family and seeing how strong the family ties are to each other.
Their romance is sweet and cute. I had a lot of fun with them and the weird things happening around Roxy. Those weird things added a little mystery to the story.
The Shifter Romances The Writer was a sweet and fun read. Great for an afternoon tea or a nice summer read.
Rated: 4 Stars
Roxy St. James has moved to Nocturne Falls for a fresh start away from her ex-husband. Unfortunately, her ex doesn’t seem to be ready for their relationship to end and has subtly been threatening her. Her handsome deputy neighbor is there to help her though.
As with all of the books in this series, this was another sweet, fun, and light romance set in the amazing town of Nocturne Falls. Roxy is trying to find herself again and finish writing her upcoming release. She doesn’t expect to instantly have the hots for her new neighbor or start to fall for him within a few days. She struggles to deal with her new feelings, the stalker, her new novel, and the possibility she is going crazy because she keeps seeing paranormal things. I liked Roxy but was little disappointed in her reaction to the fact that paranormals exist.
Alex Cruz was a protective alpha shifter who just wants to help Roxy. From the beginning, everything he does is to help her and I really loved that about him. He also doesn’t want to hide the paranormal side of the town from her but he is pressured by Delany to do so. But my absolute favorite thing about Alex was that he read Roxy’s romance novels without any prompting from her. He also references it later when they talk about their own relationship! Swoon!!
Overall, this was another fun and exciting romance for Nocturne Falls. I also love that we get to see previous couples throughout each book. Also everyone in Nocturne Falls is so nice and supportive, I just want to live there.
Trigger Warnings:
– Controlling and verbally abusive marriage (referenced)
– Stalking
Another hit for Kristin Painter! I love Nocturne Falls! The fact that paranormal people could exist in a town where no one notices? This is my place to live. Alex is such a good man to wait for his soul mate. Roxy is a writer whom, ironically has romance troubles. I was glad to also hear about the other characters from previous books. I hope there will be a story about Jenna!
While I love this series this is not on of my ravorites which is why its only four stars.
I love this series so much. Every story is a treat and this one was extra fun with the heroine being a paranormal romance author who unknowingly moves into a town full of vampires and shapeshifters. 🙂
**Audiobook Review** Being an indie author myself, this book was one of my favorites so far in the series! I love Alex and Roxy St James’ story! And this one had some great surprises in it! Now more than ever I want to live in Nocturne Falls and continue my paranormal romance writing there, just like Roxy. It’s the perfect town to fuel the creative fires for Paranormal! I finished this book in a day and wish there was more of this couple. They’re my favorite couple up to this point and that’s saying something because I’ve had a hard time picking a fave so far!
The entire Nocturne Fall series is great, but I guess the writer in me truly enjoyed this one!
Fun,easy read
The weakest of the series unfortunately very slow and predictable
