The sheriff’s woman was a really good book, I couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to read another book by Jackie Weger.
Awesome book
Interesting story line. The author developed the characters and plot with great detail while keeping you entertained. People can relate to the story of tragic events that happens in one’s life while seeing that good comes from all directions. This book shows the good in human nature. It also shows the bad in human nature and what is the best thing one can do when faced with that type of bad.
Loved it!
The characters are not mere outward-action humans but poignantly portraited
in their environment and with their emotional baggage. Very well written.
I kept making myself read it up to Chapter 8 … and I just could not read any more. I didn’t like the sheriff and his attitude toward women. I didn’t like the widowed mother and her treatment of her kids or management of her life. Only ones I could root for and hope for were the kids…. and neither parent was something to hope for.
Story of so many abused women’s struggle to survive well told!
A good beach read!
Well written.
The characters grow, and they realize, they have to take a chance to love and be a family, instead of living afraid of the past.
Interesting read, easy to read, easy to get fascinated with the characters
Great Read
It was fun to see the life of a sheriff. Hardly any time for romance
Good story. Variety of characters.
The main character was a very strong woman who lost almost everything after her husband died. It was a story of a very spiteful mother-in-law who wanted her to fail and the sheriff who was determined to help her and her three children.
Sweet story, lots of visual pictures. Easy read… good way to escape from the world for a bit.
I liked this book as I grew up in the Ozarks, the setting of this book. I liked Rachel for the person she was. Griffin was a man of character and the type of man I admire. I liked the story line.
A REAL GOOD RAINY DAY READ!
Rachel prefers to lick her wounds and protect her children from gossip and shame in isolation on a small homestead in the Ozark Mountains. Garrett, the life-long bachelor and ex-Marine Sheriff has other ideas. He has had his eye on her for years, but she was married. Now she is not, and he is all in. Garrett wields all the power and charm he can muster to insist Rachel return to town for her safety and that of her children. Exasperation and anger rule on both sides. Rachel balks but does not anticipate the dizzying emotions stirred by Garrett’s relentless attention. The moment Garret takes her in his arms Rachel knows she must make a choice: honor the truth and face her fears or live forever as an outsider. – It was amazing to me what Rachel had to handle and how she endured. She was admirable. Garrett’s concern for her and the children was touching. I enjoyed his courtship of Rachel and his interaction with the children. The story includes a variety of interesting characters. This is a very good read, perhaps a little too clean in the love department.
The Sheriff’s Woman is a fantastic contemporary romance by Jackie Weger. Ms. Weger has given readers a book that is not only well-written but will give a big strong tug at your heartstrings. The characters, my favorite part of this book, are absolutely phenomenal. Rachel was left with three young children after her husband killed himself. Garrett is the sheriff and tries to help Rachel, against her wishes. Rachel and Garrett’s story is loaded with drama, humor, spice and suspense. I enjoyed reading The Sheriff’s Woman and look forward to reading more from Jackie Weger soon. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
