Gert Dooley can shoot the tail feathers off a jay at a hundred yards, but she wants rancher Ethan Chapman to see she’s more than a crack shot with a firearm. When the sheriff of Fergus, Idaho is murdered, Ethan is named his replacement. The women in town are scared to think a murderer is loose among them, so Gert forms the Ladies’ Shooting Club to teach them how to protect themselves, their … homes, and their families.
Ethan didn’t ask to be named sheriff, but he accepts the position and takes on the investigation of the former lawman’s mysterious death. Now he’s between a rock and a hard place—being pressured by the town’s women to restore order and safety to Fergus, and being pressured by the men who insist Ethan disband the upstart Ladies’ Shooting Club.
Another murder sends Ethan to Gert and her ladies for help in the investigation. But will the Ladies’ Shooting Club unmask the murderer before he strikes again? This e-book includes discussion questions for groups.

This is a typical western who done it. But then it goes above and beyond when the women decide they need to be able to protect themselves. Advancing into womens liberation. This is done tactfully and in a very enjoyable manner.
Can’t wait to see who done it and if the 2 couples get married.
Really silly theme, not realistic
Love this series, The Ladies Shooting Club! It is set in the west but not a western, has romance but is not a romance book. NOT formulaic genre at all, just good reading with surprising and funny scenes and history at all the right moments. This author knows horses and knows her history. I had to read the whole series and now I wish there was …
I really enjoyed the first book in the Ladies’ Shooting Club series. What a great group of women! They all had different personalities and came from different places in life, yet they all worked together and became true friends. I loved the way they all jumped in to help each other, and to help the town. And help they did!
I liked the suspense …
well written, good plot. Will read more in this series.
I enjoyed this series of gun toting ladies in the Wild West. Very true to what life was back then, and the characters are feisty woman who enjoy their lives, accept challenges, and are ready and able to defend themselves and others.
Ladies’ Shooting Club Book 1: THE SHERIFF’S SURRENDER by Susan Page Davis was a delightfully entertaining, intriguing story filled with romance, humor, mystery and adventure.
Love the group of women in this book. From one sharp shooting women, the group grows as the women decide they need to defend themselves from a murderer who’s struck several times in their town. They work together to help protect the town and solve the crimes in spite of the outrage among the men at armed women.
Nice girly western
I enjoyed this book.
I’ve read all three of this series and want more about the town and the characters. I can’t find any beyond Book 3 to date. You will see life the West as it was and you will enjoy the writing of Ms Davis. I’ve noted she has other series and haven’t tried them yet. Christian fiction that is not preachy.
enjoyed, would recommend
Easy read.
Loved the idea of the Ladies gun shooting club. I would have loved being a member.
A little shallow but an easy read and fun.
This Triology of books is one of the best western frontier books I have read…the story is realistic and funny and sad!!
The characters are real and described so well you feel you really “see” them.
Each books picks up the story in such a way you smoothly go to the next book without missing anything.
A nice enjoyable light read.
