Laid off and down to her last few dollars, Gina Taylor is desperate to provide for her baby boy when she sees an advertisement for a mail order bride in Marietta, Montana. On just a photo of a serious but handsome man and the charm of his kind, deep voice on the phone, Gina packs up her few belongings and leaves the hardships of San Francisco behind. When widowed deputy sheriff Rory Watson buys a … Watson buys a neglected ranch in desperate need of repairs and a homey touch, he realizes how much he misses the companionship marriage offers. His brother found a bride and happiness with an advertisement. Maybe he can too. But Rory gets more than he bargained for when Gina arrives, baby on her hip.
Rory can forgive a lot, but Gina never mentioned a baby. His instinct is to send her home, but his uneasy conscience insists she stay–temporarily. Gradually, Rory discovers that Gina’s smile, love of country life, and can-do attitude wake up something he never knew was dormant, and the chubby baby reminds him of how much he once wanted a family.
Can a down-on-her-luck woman find the home she’s always wanted with a man afraid to love again?

Loved the story, not so much the steamy love acts.
Very entertaining read with a little different story line. Very glad I read this one.
This is a wonderful heartwarming romance.
It’s been three years since Rory Watson lost his wife and he missed having a partner to share his life with so he placed an ad for a mail-order bride. It worked for his brother, so why not for him? When Gina Taylor answered the ad, it was because she was desperate to provide for her baby boy. She would do anything for him, even if it meant marrying a man she didn’t know. But when she showed up with a baby, Rory was ready to send her packing. Gina knew she should have told him about her son but she wasn’t the only one keeping secrets. The ranch was so run down that it wasn’t even livable. Can they get over the lies and find love?
I love a great story that holds me captive. This book does it with a mixture of suspense, surprises, and romance. A perfect combination!
I loved this book especially the ending and epilogue. Looking forward to reading her next book The Doctors Husband.
I skipped over the steamy parts, they weren’t necessary. The story reads well on its own.
This is the first book that I have read from this author. It is the second book in the series, but worked for me as a stand alone. Rory has been a widower for 3 years and is lonely. He has come back home to Marietta Montana and taken the job of Deputy Sheriff. (Maybe the title should be Deputy Sheriff’s Mail-Order Bride). Eschewing the dating scene, he follows his big brother’s example and posts an ad for a wife in a newspaper. He is not looking for love, just companionship.
Gina is desperate. She is all alone with a baby and is out of work and living in a dump. While looking at the classified ads for a job (do they even exist anymore?), she sees an ad for a wife and answers it. She packs what little they have in her car and drives from San Francisco to Montana to meet her groom to be. Neither one was completely honest when they spoke over the phone, he not telling her that he did not own the house in front of which he stood in the picture he sent and she was too scared to tell him about baby Fisher. She runs out of gas shortly before reaching his house, a few days early, and as he is living with his brother and sister-in-law until he can renovate, she and the baby are there alone for a few days. A hard worker, she spends the time cleaning up the place. I don’t remember reading an explanation of why she didn’t call him to let him know that she had arrived early.
Despite this auspicious beginning they find so much more in the other than they could have hoped for. And they need that connection, because their new life together is soon threatened by Fisher’s grandparents.
The Sheriff’s Mail-Order Bride by Ann B. Harrison is book number two in the Watson Brothers’ series. This is Gina Taylor and widowed deputy sheriff Rory Watson
Rory, widowed, wants a companion and does not want to get into the dating scene. He places an ad for a mail-order bride. Gina, single mom, lost her job and was down to the last of her money when she accepted to be a mail-order bride for deputy sheriff Rory Watson. Rory was expecting Gina but not the baby. Will Rory send her away or will he get more than he ever expected.
This was an enjoyable read. A great mail-order bride romance with misconceptions, secrets, and learning to trust again.
FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
It’s a good story but the writing style is off. There are time gaps and disjointed scenes or new chapters that start unnecessarily which make it hard to read. This is the type of book I would loose myself in, but because of the aforementioned issues you get pulled from the story. A good rewrite and this would be a great book.
Loved this story.
Enjoyed book.
I enjoyed reading this book.
I loved it
love all the different takes on Marietta by each author & the fact that although connected they each can stand alone
Was a fun book to read.
Great book
I would have given the book a 5 but i felt the storyline ended too fast. The book needed another chapter or at least several pages to end the story.
Fantastic family story!
Strong independent characters that were able to come together.
Great plot, felt like the ending was not as well put together and forced
