This book is a great cozy romance!
Cute story. Liked the characters would buy more books by this author.
I’ve been a fan of Tule Publishing’s various Marietta, MT series. This book is part of a series that takes place in Marietta by a new-to-me-author. It was ok and a short read that really didn’t require you to think too much. There were times I wanted to smack the hero and heroine upside the head for being dense or touchy or too reticent. Hey, if they actually sat down and talked to each other, maybe knee-jerk reactions might not have happened. But then, the story would have been 20 pages.
Here’s what really bothered me about the story. SPOILER ALERT: The big custody battle was over in basically a blink and then all was right with the world. And what about the stranger in town who appeared to be following somebody?? It was as if the author was on a deadline and just needed to finish the book, so she didn’t fully wrap up the plotlines.
My other big issue with the book was the writing itself. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t Montana. The author is Australian and her writing reflected tone and idioms that are Australian, not American. I’ve read many good Australian authors, writing about their home country, and the pacing, the cadence, the words of the authors made the stories ring true. But this story takes place in a small town in Montana. We don’t have lounges in our houses, we have living rooms. That’s just one example that was used quite often. Her depiction of Callie was spot on, but then, Callie is an Australian transplant. The tone of her writing didn’t match the locale and, to me, it was disconcerting.
I won’t read the rest of this particular series. There was nothing to the book that made me want to find out about the rest of the family.
Great wholesome book
4 stars
Sweet story…
I enjoyed this book, will probably read the next one too.
So, so book. Not very exciting.
An easy enjoyable read.
I love cowboy romances. And this one was fun to read. Loved the plot and the characters. Highly recommend it.
This book was just not great. Not a totally bad story, but nothing outstanding. Just too much time spent in the thoughts of the characters. Quite frankly if either the hero or heroine had said to themselves, one more time, how they just didn’t think it would work, or will the other person accept them, I was going to stop reading. Premise was pretty weird I thought. Who would not tell the person they expected to marry that they had a child? I mean really? Just not a book I could honestly suggest to others.
Good read.
Sweet

I love this author
Great read!
Number two in series of four and should be read in order. Family saga of four brothers desperate for the love of a good woman. A story of family dynamics and support. I really enjoyed this light read.
