The first book in Catherine Coulter’s beloved Bride series. Douglas Sherbrooke, Earl of Northcliffe, marries the wrong woman-only to find himself haunted by a bride of an entirely different kind.
I love this book. It’s full of laughs and love. Ms. Coulter is one of the best historical romance writers out there and this book had me engaged. I have read and reread this series a number of times. It’s one of my go to series when I need a good happy ending.

“The Sherbrooke Bride” (nook) is well-written and enthralling. My emotions ranged from chuckles to a few tears. Douglas is such an arse but he changes for the better as he falls in love with Alexandra.

This is the first book in the Bride Series and it starts off with a loud bang!
When the woman you’ve chosen as your bride gets switched with her sister and your cousin who you’ve sent to stand in by proxy marries the woman you’ve dreamed about (and would keep you away from having to try your luck at the Marriage Mart!), things start off on the wrong foot.
Add in ghosts, spies, kidnapping along with being shackled to a woman you’ve never seen before but who strangely seems to want to be marries to you is all too much for our hero.
Never-ending chaos and action keeps you on your toes as you enjoy this first book.

I love, love, love Coulters historical romances. Not a fan of the contemporary thrillers. I own a lot of her nook and reread them they are soooo good. She has some series too. Wish she would go back to writing historical romances.

I liked the story line but there was unnecessary graphic sex scenes. I don’t need a detailed account over and over.

It was a little slow at the beginning and the hero was not all that likeable but he grows on you. I paid 99 cents for it so overall a good beach read.

Good development of characters. Douglas had no knowledge of emotions or feelings and was just a bloated egoist used to having his way. Through a marriage gone awry he learns about love and relationships. A younger inventive sister aids by constantly interfering in creative and entertaining way.
