At the end of a long and useful life, Penelope Keeling’s prized possession is The Shell Seekers, painted by her father, and symbolizing her unconventional life, from bohemian childhood to wartime romance. When her grown children learn their grandfather’s work is now worth a fortune, each has an idea as to what Penelope should do. But as she recalls the passions, tragedies, and secrets of her … of her life, she knows there is only one answer…and it lies in her heart, in this beloved Cornwall novel from Rosamunde Pilcher.

Wonderful story, one of my all time favorite books.
I loved it. The perfect beach read. Didn’t have to keep my dictionary close by, didn’t have to think much, there was no politics, just enjoyment! Hey, it’s a COVID-19 kind of summere folks and we can’t really go to the south of France or the north of Duluth!
One of the best books I’ve read lately!
Read it years ago, still remember how it felt, warm and fuzzy.
This was the first book I read by Rosamunde Pilcher and I was hooked. Since then I have read every book she has written. While you read this book the characters become part of you. Her descriptive writing brings them alive, along with where they live and how and why certain situations take place. You won’t be disappointed.
I love all of Rosamond Pilcher’s books! This is a nice long one. Not action-packed, just nicely paced with great characters and descriptions. Her stories are what lured me to England for the first time…30-odd years ago! And after a dozen trips across the pond now, I’m still in love with England!
Anything Rosamunde Pilcher writes is off the charts.
The Shell Seekers is a whole life, beautifully told, in less than 600 pages. Not much comes as a surprise, even the bits that are intentionally withheld until later, and there’s not a lot of action. The romance is tragic and some of the characters annoying, but I cannot imagine a better TELLING of a story than this one. I feel that Rosamund …
This is one of my favourite books that I have reread several times over the years and still love as much each time I read it.
A wonderful read by a great author. Family dynamics at their best with a bit of romance for good measure.
This is a story of life, loves, losses, memories, family, and a painting. Beautiful descriptions that set the reader into the scene and then keeps them drawn into the twists and turns of life. I love how the author creates very believable characters. The type that make you want to share a pot of tea and an afternoon in the warm sunlight.
I really love this book- I’ve read it more than once, and different characters resonate with me differently as I get older and my life changes. It’s a very enjoyable read.
I love this book and have read it several times!
All time favorite book, must read it again!!
First book I read by this author and it inspired me to read all of her other books. Because of this book I want Cornwall to be my first stop in retirement
I remember loving this book but I read it years ago. Cant speak to the detail without a review
Anything by this author is good.
Read this years ago, very good!
Been a long time since I read this but I remember I enjoyed it!
This book stays with you due to the characters and the wonderful World War 2 history.
