Mysterious Sebastian Fairfax lives a life of ease as secretary to the British Ambassador in France. Living in Paris before the revolution, the handsome foreigner cuts a dashing figure and is respected by men, admired by women.
One evening, he becomes intrigued with an intelligent young woman named Sophie Gauvreau, whom he meets at a celebrated salonist’s home. Though the auburn-haired beauty … beauty attracts his attention, she is not what she seems. Educated and privileged Sophie has secretly started writing revolutionary pamphlets under a pseudonym as France teeters on the brink of disaster.
When Sebastian discovers her true identity, he tries to warn Sophie of the danger she has embarked on, as an Inspector has been dispatched to discover the writer’s true identity. Sebastian agrees to marry the reckless beauty to keep her safe from harm.
Though Sebastian desires the redhead in his bed, the saucy Sophie accepts his help but places one condition on their marriage…it will be one of convenience.
As the two intelligent and strong willed people come to terms with their feelings for each other, France slides into a revolution. As the firstborn son of a great Arabian Sheik, Sebastian will do what he must to keep his wife safe and in his arms.

It wasn’t the typical romance.novel. It put the female character in an atypical role for that time in history which was interesting thereby
giving it some authenticity. Afterall some females of that time were strong, bright and determined to be heard.
I lost interest early on. Seemed unrealistic. I may pick it up later to give it another try.
A fun read!
Unusual set of characters and interesting detail of history
too much sexual description for my taste. Stopped reading after a couple chapters. Will delete as soon as I figure out how.
Reading this book is an enjoyable way to spend a couple of afternoons escaping to another time and place. Good characters and storyline.
No depth of characters!
It took me one day to read this work of art. I couldn’t wait to see what happened with Sophie and Bash.
Story line somewhat slow
The book was predictable and presentation was choppy. It had potential but need some editing.
Really liked it – one that you could get your teeth into. Not just fluff.
It was only so-so
I liked it very much
I was pleasantly surprised by this book.I bought it without really reading the review, but once I started reading,I enjoyed it very much.
Unable to get interested in it. Too much background information.
I thought from the description that it would had more of the history of the french revolution and not sexual exployist it had very disappointed. All the sex was not necessary.
Sex,, sex, sex. I didn’t bother to finish it.
Loved the plot and history and suspense…. had to skim over the intimacy parts as it was too graphic for me.
It left me hanging it could have had a better ending
A historical romance filled with lively characters. There is a brief reference to the French revolution. A villain, hero and not the ordinary damsel in distress graces the books pages. I enjoyed this book, it was an easy read.
