Because the fae are real. She just pretends they’re not.
The Shadow Prophecy is a … just pretends they’re not.

It’s time to call it in.
Asylum (Touched by the Fae #1)

Until Nine, the Shadow Man who once haunted her childhood, returns with another warning—plus one hell of a surprise.
There’s a prophecy. And Riley is supposed to be the infamous Shadow fated to end the Fae Queen’s Reign of the Damned.
Shadow (Touched by the Fae #2)
The fae are after me because I’m the Shadow. But what the hell is that supposed to mean…
For six years, Riley has been held captive by the fae at Black Pine Facility for Wayward Juveniles — but when a brooding Dark Fae helps her escape, she’ll be drawn into a quest to discover the truth about her mysterious abilities and magical identity…
Touch (Touched by the Fae #3)
The prophecy is coming true. It’s either the Fae Queen dies or I do—and, for the first time ever, I have something to live for…
Time is running out for Riley. After Nine sacrifices his freedom for the sake of his mate, Riley is determined to save the Dark Fae before she finally confronts Melisandre, the cruel Fae Queen whose curse has turned Nine into a frozen statue. But, in order to do that, Riley has to do one thing she swore she would never do.
She has to return to the asylum.
Zella (Touched by the Fae #4) || bonus epilogue
The Fae Queen is dead—and now it’s time for me to finally live a little…
Weeks after the Fae Queen’s death, Riley is trying to rebuild some kind of normal life in the human world with her Dark Fae mate. When Nine starts to grow distant, she wonders if he’s beginning to think he made a mistake leaving Faerie behind to stay with her.

“Touched by the Fae” by Jessica Lynch, a dark urban fantasy centered in the character of Riley, a half human/fae young woman that was committed to the Asylum at the age of fifteen.
Riley’s character is multifaceted, her behavior varies depending on the given situation, which is very much consisting with her six-year journey through the asylum. At times it is heartbreaking to witness how the lack of agency over her own life propels Riley into inner monologues where the only hope is just to survive to her twenty-first birthday and let a life of pointless medication behind. But Riley is a fighter at heart, she possesses a strong will and remains able to hold to her own knowledge and beliefs even in the seemingly most hopeless situations. Ridley’s character developing through the series is astounding, she has come very far from the orphan child who was committed to Black Pine Facility maturing into a confident heroine who has come to terms with her own role in fulfilling the Shadow Prophecy.
Nine’s character, the Shadow Man in Riley’s life, is everything you expected a Dark Fae to be, complex, inscrutable, shady, sexy, dangerous….. dark even, a complex character, that is nevertheless committed to Riley, in spite of everything. Nine and Ridley relationship evolves and consolidates into a more balanced interaction, and… the rest you must have to read by yourself.
The series is exceptionally well written, a good mixture of action-packed scenes and very well-done descriptions and character centered scenes, with unexpected turns and twists, with equals parts of suspense, intrigue, introspection and raw emotion on Riley’s side, and some very nicely done unexpected turns that will keep you wonder how everything will line down in the end
“Favor”
The Prequel to the series, is set twenty years previous to the events related in the main series, and related the story of Riley’s parents, and how her actions brought Nine/Ash into the picture and start the journey that would eventually lead to Nine crossing Riley’s path.
Callie Brooks met her mate at the royal court, where he was the Queen’s bodyguard. He is a Light Fae that left Faerie behind to be with Callie, something the Queen isn’t willing to forget. Now they have the Queen’s guards hunting them, intending to punish them and their daughter. Their only hope is Ash, a dangerous Dark Fae who owes them a debt.
“Asylum”
The Black Pine Facility for Wayward Juveniles is a just a fancy name for a haunted place where troubled teenagers are sent to be fix or fall into oblivion. Riley cannot be fixed, just because she is not broken, the creatures she sees are much real, and pretending they are not, didn’t get her very far. Now six years later, the one man who taught her everything she knows about the fae and warned her about their powers of persuasion is back in her life with rather unsettling news about the prophecy that will unlock her destiny.
“Shadow”
Now a couple of weeks shy of her twenty first birthday Riley can almost smell freedom, only to have her hopes smashed one more time. The Asylum is not just as she thought, a facility for troubled teenagers, it is in fact the place where the fae lock up human children into oblivion. Still Ridley have been promised to be able to leave Black Pine when she reaches twenty-one, and the fae definitely cannot lie, thus…. leaving should she, just to fall directly into the hands of the Fae Queen, a big no-no in Riley’s book. With close to no options, Riley is on the run, even from Nine, the Shadow Man of her childhood who seems to be the only ally the fae pursuers. Nine seems changed in a way that makes Riley doubt his true alliances and has become a tat too sexy and attractive for Riley’s comfort. As a rule, the fae don’t do favors, thus why does he keeping helping Riley without further explanation?
“Touched”
Callie after realizing that her parents are in fact still alive, needs all help she can find to free them from the captivity of the Fae Queen. But before she can even attempt to confront the Queen, she would have to ransom Nine, her companion and guardian, who traded his own freedom for hers to appease the Fae Queen and the only ally she could trust in the upcoming fight to fulfill the Shadow Prophecy.
“Zella”
This short epilogue (about sixty pages) maybe not strictly necessary in the series, but it is in fact much needed, as it closes up Nine and Ridley’s transition to the human realm with a very nice bow and…. also includes a very exciting surprise going into the future
After things in the Fae realm have finally been settled, with the former Fae Queen gone forever and Oberon as his rightful King, Nine, Ridley and her parents leave Faerie and start a new life. Taking into consideration Nine’s unseelie nature his adaptation to both light and iron has been very successful, perhaps too successful, as Ridley suspects… something seems not right, Nine is obviously hiding something, just… what?

Love seeing the whole series in the Boxset! It’s great getting 3 full books and 2 novellas! Wrote reviews for each book below, so it’s quite long. For a quick review, I really enjoyed the series; cool premise and some unique ideas dealing with the Fae world, entertaining and fun!
Book 0.5 – Favor – 5 star
Quick prequel to the Touched by the Fae series. Definitely made me want to get going with the series; sounds like it’s going to be an adventure! In this prequel, Fae Ash mated with Human Callie and they had a baby. The Fae are very unhappy about this; especially since there’s a prophecy about the baby causing some issues for the Queen or something like that. Callie is forced to leave her mate and get her baby to safety, but things don’t exactly go to plan. Excited to see what’s next!
Book 1 – Asylum – 5 star
Cool premise with some interesting ideas. There’s kind of a humor to the story but it’s about some pretty dark things. Riley was abandoned when she was a baby; if you’ve read the prequel, Favor, then you’ll known more of what happened, but Riley has no or very little knowledge about what happened when she was a baby. She has been through foster home after foster home, and is now in a mental asylum because she blamed the Fae for a fire that left her hands scarred and someone dead; she’s been in the asylum for 6 years. She is approaching her 21st birthday, and will finally be able to leave the asylum.
Riley has had a guardian type person, Nine, who has shown himself to her and only her since she was a baby. He has told her about the Fae and warned her about the danger she’s in from them since she was young, but now Riley believes it’s all hallucinations and such. Riley has been through a lot, so she has difficulty trusting in her own mind; when odd things happen, Riley doesn’t know what to make of it. Danger is getting closer and closer to her.
I enjoyed the whole premise for this story. The Fae stuff is fun and has some unique elements there. Interesting characters too! Riley has issues; she’s had to deal with so much, but she still remains strong. Nine definitely has that whole mysterious thing going on; we don’t get a lot on him, but it’ll be interesting to see how he’ll be involved more in the story. The Fae in this book aren’t really the nice type; they are more the shifty type of Fae that you really should just not even involve yourself in. Unfortunately for Riley, she doesn’t really get that option. This story is mainly set in the asylum, so expect scenarios dealing with some tough situations with mental illness. This story also ends in a cliffhanger, so you’ll need to continue the story. There’s still lots of story to be told, but I’m excited to read where this story goes.
Book 2 – Shadow – 4 star
The premise for this series is really cool and has lots of interesting elements. All the Fae magic stuff is fun, and I’m really enjoying this series overall. Definitely read the previous book before this one, or you may be lost. In this book, Riley is still having trouble dealing with knowing that the Fae are real; she is not handling things well. I’m not a fan of her being so pity party in this book; she has a lot of issues that she needs to work through, how she grew up really damaged her self-worth and her mental growth. I’m getting tired of her bratty attitude; this whole book is her trying to wish everything away, bury her head in the sand, but that’s not going to work and she’s really kidding herself to think it will. The story moves a bit too slowly, but the story is still entertaining, and I’m still excited to read the next book. I just hope Riley stops being so problematic and acting so cracked. I want to root for her and I still do, but I want more strength from her. She needs to stop and think before she acts; she lets her emotions rule her too much. I hope to see more growth from her in the next book. There’s also a bit more about Riley and Nine’s connection, but I’m thinking Riley doesn’t have the maturity necessary for any type of romantic relationship; she really needs to work on herself first. With that being said, I do like that there’s a supportive relationship there. It’ll be interesting to see where this story goes, and how Nine and Riley end up.
Book 3 – Touch – 3 stars
I’ve really enjoyed the overall premise of this story. There’s some really cool ideas and unique elements. I just wanted Riley to grow more as a character; especially with this being the finale book in this series, but that didn’t happen. She continues to show her immaturity and bratiness, so her attitude turned me off to any romance between Nine and Her. I also didn’t need to know she slept around and didn’t care about protection when she was 13-15 years old; that was just eww. I like Nine, but he doesn’t get to have much personality in this series. I was hoping there would be more connection between Riley and Him, but it never quite got there for me. Some sweet moments, but they don’t communicate well. Also, I wanted more from the reunion with her parents, and the ending didn’t wow me. Also, for the names having power scenario; it seems like an awful lot of people know each other’s Fae names. The story is entertaining, but didn’t reach that level of awesome I was hoping it would with this finale. I still want to check out more books by Jessica Lynch because there’s some interesting, fun ideas going on.
Book 4 – Zella – 4 star
This is more like an epilogue and a recap of the series. Riley and Nine are figuring out how to be mates, and about Nine dealing with living in the human world. There’s also an old enemy that needs to be dealt with. Also, more about Riley and her parents growing together. It was a nice story and I enjoyed seeing Riley and Nine working on being a good team together. Riley still isn’t quite where I want her to be as a character, but I like her okay. Overall, a entertaining quick read.
This is a fairly new author to me and I jumped right in with this book bundle. I loved the stories and the characters. I will be reading more from this author.

This set of books is an excellent read. Light and dark elves are looking for the half fae half human child who is a shadow walker. Nine is a dark fae who has a debt to protect the child. These stories are all about them. I thought the story line was really good. I loved the characters. I would highly recommend this book.
