“This is a great beach read.” –USA TODAY Network. In the remote Four Corners region of Colorado, Special Agent Nathaniel Arkin, a disgraced former intelligence officer, investigates the killing of a bigoted, vitriolic preacher who was about to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. In processing the murder scene, Arkin thinks he recognizes the modus operandi of a shadowy group he … group he pursued and was on the verge of exposing years earlier, just before his abrupt fall from grace and exile from Washington, D.C. Rumored to be run by a self-righteous, lapsed Jesuit priest, it was a group Arkin long suspected of orchestrating an international assassination campaign targeting charismatic, fledgling fanatics—future Hitlers and bin Ladens—just as they emerged from obscurity, before they were capable of instigating mass murder. Reluctant, but aching for redemption, Arkin resumes the chase, setting in motion a chain of events that could lead to his salvation—or his doom. Along the way, he confronts a question that has troubled him for many years: What creates murderous fundamentalists and fanatics like Hitler and bin Laden in the first place?
This is the first of a two-book series.

Enjoyed the book, a real exciting read.
need to read second book to finish the story
Great read and insight into how investigations develop. Technology instinct protocol factors are detailed. I actually felt as if I participated in the story.
I didn’t particularly like the ending.
Really liked. One of those books you hate to put
down.
An action packed read that just may keep you up all night. Ponder this…. are there high-level factions within the US Government law enforcement agencies intent on killing individuals that inflame the public against America. What would those factions do to individuals sworn to protect the public including those that may grow into rebels against the US. Can you predict the outcome?
Entertaining story with characters I enjoyed investing in.
Excellent book!!
I liked the book a lot but it lacked the action it could have had, but it was very realistic. Good read but ended abruptly for my tastes. Still a good read with good characters.
Ended to soon
A bit slow in parts but an entertaining read. Worth the time. An easy and quick read.
It was not gripping at the start. I’m glad I stayed with it as it soon became very interesting. I enjoyed the interaction among the main characters. Surprise at the end was not anticipated.
It ended too soon
This is the first of D.C. Alexander’s books that I have read. I only hope that Barnes and Noble will have his other books available for purchase. Thus far, I’ve found them only available on Amazon! He is a wonderful writer and I can almost “hear” his FBI background theough his descriptions of weapons, crime scenes and recon. So, if you are reading this Mr. Alexander, please take note that I’d love to purchase more of your novels for my Nook!
An unique style of writing. Enjoyed the characters and cohesive unit of them
Can’t put it down !!! Good read ,very vivid characters and action.
Twists that kept the plot interesting.
It was a very good read, but like all these series, there isn’t an end to the story! Must read next or several to get satisfaction of a completed story. I like books with an end to the hunt!
I found this book very entertaining and exciting.
very good
