Quirky! I enjoyed it, but couldn’t tell what it was about. I remember laughing out loud at times when I was reading it, but don’t think it was meant to be a funny book. Great writing.
This one is for those who love language in all its complexity. Great story line.
One of my favorite books.
I liked the story, but it was a difficult read. Too many bad things happen to everybody throughout the book. It’s worth reading however
I read this book twice and would read it again to be transported to the author’s fascinating world with strange yet enchanting characters!!
A difficult read
Entire series was an excellent read
A good read, interesting with many twists and turns.
This is a taught, beautifully written book, with excellent characterisations, a very good story line, and a strong draw you in story. Beautifully written, and tight plot. Absolutely loved it….didn’t want it to end.
Well Written.
The plot is essentially about a teenager taken by his father to a place of forgotten books. The boy may select one book and make it his own. Few copies of his chosen book exist. Owners of this book are robbed and murdered and their copies disappear. It is rumored that even the author has been destroying his work.
The story captures the reader and envelopes him in the story. This is a book you won’t want to put aside.
I read average two book per week. This is the best book I’ve read in years.
Wonderful and imaginative
I loved this book! Great story & writing with main character you care about.
It was similar to reading three separate stories and then they all merge into one at the end loved it.
One of my favorite books.
Beautifully written.
Absolutely wonderful book.
I love the characters, the mystery, the wonderful story told in this book! I highly recommend it!
One of my all-time favorites. Drawing inspiration from classic Gothic novels, Shadow of the Wind follows an earnest, book-loving young man who is drawn into a dark mystery from before his time. Carlos Ruiz Zafon brilliantly evokes the tense atmosphere of Barcelona in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War in this fast-paced story that will keep you enthralled till the very last page.
This was a great read. Made for great discussion in my book club
