A good book to read. God works in mysterious ways.
Whether or not you believe like this fiction story tells, this is a wonderful, encouraging book for all of us.
Many may find this book outside of their comfort zone. God the Father is embodied in a large black woman! The Hoy Spirit is an Asian woman wafting here and there. Jesus walks and talks with the hero who has lost his daughter.
The story is so well-written that I was not sure if it was fiction or an actual event!
It was a strange premise but I enjoyed the book.
Needs to be read with an open mind. and can help you learn to see God in others.
There are some books and stories that, once read, stick with you and become a part of you. This was one of those stories. For the past 5 years, I have been growing my faith and understanding of God by leaps and bounds instead of just casually. But even when I feel as though I am a fully functioning Christian; living God’s words, serving, changing, forgiving and repenting, I can still be amazed by the words that I did not even know I needed to hear.
I had so very many favorite passages (yes, not sentences or paragraphs) in this book but it was, after some pondering, the small ones that took be back. This passage so simple in its delivery that it can easily be mistaken for atmosphere. But I stopped in my tracks because I am so often guilty for treating others with shame an contempt rather than love and acceptance. I can lay blame that others were careless and malicious but the forgiveness and kindness should start and end with me. Having this epiphany through this simple passage speaks volumes to the daily messages we miss by not paying attention.
“As he leaned against the doorway watching, Mack was full of thoughts. So this was God in relationship? It was beautiful and so appealing. He knew that it didn’t matter whose fault it was – the mess form some bowl that had been broken, that a planned dish would not be shared. Obviously, what was truly important here was the love they had for one another and the fullness it brought them. He shook his head. How different this was from the way he sometimes treated the ones he loved!”
This may not be everyone’s passage, but this was mine and maybe your passage as well. The other passage was longer and more involved. It was on judging. I never considered the basis for my judging until I began my walk in faith. But the pages between 135 and 140 made me realize that even the guy who cut me off in traffic and never heard the curses I threw his way was a form of judge, jury and executioner. That is not my place. It will be a long hard road for me to own up to and change this facet of my life, but I will try a little bit each day until I succeed.
I cannot say enough about this book and the emotions that fill me while reading. I know for some they will deny its power and may not even finish. But I know that somewhere down the road, a word, a phrase or a whole passage with creep up on you and change your life. Start that seed with this book. If nothing else, you have read a great story but at most you will know “if anything matters, then everything matters.”
I loved this book. I went through every possible emotion while reading this.

A weekend in a cabin with God. One man’s journey through grief and finding a real relationship with our living God.
Really touches a person’s soul! Even my husband who doesn’t read much enjoyed it. Worth a reread.
I. Loved. This. Book.
Gives you a whole new way to imagine God.
The author shares his personal experience after loosing his daughter.
I found it to be well written, and also to confirm much spiritual truth.
Very good book! Makes you reconsider the possibilities of the Godhead!
An interesting depiction of the Trinity of God. A story of God’s healing and how God reaches us in the depth of great despair. God’s acceptance and invitation to question Him when we are hurting.
Not worth the read. This is a fantasy that takes that makes fun of the Bible.
Great book. Highly recommend for anyone 16 and up. Expect to have tears, but you will be inspired at the end.
I’ve read this book many times and I always find something new. It’s one for the shelf.
This is a must read for Christians and non-christians alike. It’s a very interesting story of great love, getting lost and being found. It’s one to read over and over again.
