Thought provoking but NOT based on Biblical principles
Although the theology gets a little wonky at times, I loved the story and the characters of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Non-Biblical
i loved this book for its non-traditional view of the “Christian God”, none of the fire and brimstone of traditional Christianity, this is a beautiful book, that really presents God as Unconditional Love.
Though people rave about this book, I had trouble getting into it. Basically, I understand it’s message, but felt I knew it before I read the book. I did not like reading about God as a black, fat woman, no matter how kindly. Jesus seemed to be nice, but somewhat wimpy in the way of someone who wasn’t truly real. Guess it depends on where you start from.
It is a book that makes you question a lot of religious stereotypes in a very good way.
I didn’t read this book for years when it first came out, for very dumb religious reasons. Read it last year. Was touched to my core by it.
This book held my attention throughout its entirety. The more you dig into this book, the more I understood it and enjoyed it.
Enjoyed it very much; bought several copies to gift to family and friends.
I loved how this book had me look at something I’ve been looking at my whole life in a completely different way. It capativated me and opened my eyes.
Causes one to think about life. Very good read.
I did not enjoy this book and could not believe all the hype.
I didn’t care for this book because there are some serious theological errors in the story.
Excellent book to read and share/pass on to a friend.
I finally got to read this book after waiting so long for it to become available. Well worth the wait.
This book so beautifully paints the picture of God’s love. Our ideas of God can be so off at times. Not all suffering comes from God, yet he walks us so gently through them.
One of the most captivating books I have read. This is one that I’ll read again. A child’s disappearence puts her father & the reader on a most unusual journey.
Well written & worth my time
The Bible, The Shack, and Roots…my all time favorite books!
With surprising imagery the author considers God’s character and triune nature.
