A hot and sweet forbidden romance from #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Lauren Blakely…
Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move…
1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she’s gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?
2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means…
3. She’s … Cooking for my princess. Which means…
3. She’s the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits…But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.
*****
The other nannies in this city don’t call him The Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.
I can’t risk my job for a chance at something more…can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either…
With all the heat, heart and humor readers have come to expect, this newest Lauren Blakely standalone will make you laugh, swoon and feel like you’re falling in love!

You just can’t put this book down. I love all of Lauren’s books, haven’t found any that I haven’t liked and I’ve read most of them. Abby and Simon are great characters.
Absolutely love Simon, the sexy single father, melting panties….. also loved Abby, his daughters nanny….. a forbidden but steamy story I highly recommend reading.
“Six foot three. Broad shoulders. Flat stomach. Trim waist. Square jawline. Hint of stubble. Dark blond hair. Light blue eyes. And a smile that makes you melt into a puddle of lust.”
I’m a sucker for single dads and cute kids. The Sexy One by Lauren Blakely did not disappoint at all!!! Simon was hot, funny, attentive and most importantly an excellent father to his daughter, Hayden. Abby has been their babysitter for a few months and she’s always had a crush on him but wanted to keep it professional plus she has goals she wanted to achieve. That’s one of the things I loved about Abby she was career oriented and wasn’t looking for a hand out. Simon has had feelings for Abby as well but he didn’t want to act on them since he was her employer. He also didn’t want to hurt Hayden in the process as well. Another plus for Simon in my book.
“Not because she struts in like she lives here. But because she owns me. She’s claimed a piece of my heart, and now I have the chance to touch her in the most intimate way.”
Eventually they give in and decide to see where things go. I really liked the build up between the two characters. Simon and Abby together was perfect. They knew each other very well, you could feel their chemistry, they had good banter with each other and nothing was forced. I found myself laughing out loud several times, smiling and swooning. Simon was just perfect in this book and I loved how he thought of Hayden and Abby in all his decision makings.
I’ve read a few books with single fathers and Blakely nailed it with this one! There was no over the top drama. Everything that happened made perfect sense and Simon and Abby handle the situation like adults. The story flowed and I was so sad when it was done. I also treated myself to the audio narration and they did an excellent job and really brought the story to life, especially the sexy moments. Fans of single dads and romantic comedies will love this one!
“I can’t let on how I feel about Simon, because I’ve spent the last seven months taking care of his adorable five-year-old daughter.” –Abby.
Abby Becker has it bad. Bad for her boss. She is an in home nanny for a single, SEXY man named Simon Travers. “If you looked up ‘hot single dad’ in the dictionary, you’d find his picture.”-Abby. She has spent the last, a little over seven months, hiding her growing affections for Simon. She can list off the reasons this is a bad idea: 1. Hello, he’s her BOSS! That’s an automatic “no go”. 2. She adores Hayden and if they do cross that invisible “no go” line, and things go south, where does that leave things? No job, that’s where. So with those possibilities, that leaves Abby right where she’s at…lusting from afar.
Simon Travers was recommended, by a friend, to hire Abby to nanny for his daughter, Hayden. And he couldn’t be more grateful because Abby is a perfect fit for Hayden. Problem is…”Insta-lust. Trouble is, it’s morphed into a h*lluva lot more than lust in all the time she’s spent in my home, with my family, with my kid. Admiration. Fondness. The real deal. It’s turned into exactly what I cannot have. A big thing for my kid.” –Simon. He’s attracted to her intelligence, her fierceness, and her independence. He finds her directness refreshing and alluring. He finds her beautiful. Plain and simple, he’s attracted to everything about HER. But he knows he can’t get involved with his nanny. How cliché is that? Firstly, what if things don’t work out if they DO hook up, he knows Hayden would be devastated (as well as he would be). Secondly, he’s thirty-four and she’s twenty-six. Their lives are completely different and he doesn’t know how he’d fit into her life. And lastly, he doesn’t want to “bring her down” with his baggage. He knows her life is free of baggage right now and he sees her going far in life. So, that Simon admiring from a distance.
Of course trying to resist each other is impossible. Stolen moments here and there. Lust turns to longing. Casual touches turns to one heated kiss. All this attraction is heat and fire. COMBUSTIBLE. “My sweet, sweet, Abby. You know I can’t resist you.” –Simon. Can that combustion be contained or will everything go up in smoke? Will they be able to find a balance? Simon can navigate and negotiate any business deal, but can he navigate this?
This novel was forbidden love at its finest. Simon and Abby’s story was absolutely adorable. It was the type of book that you could read in one sitting and be left feeling complete. Fulfilled. I had happy butterflies in my tummy for a majority of this book. Their story was real and true and an utter joy to read. This book was about honesty, openness and realness. Simon and Abby both had insta-lust for each other, which developed into an affection that developed into a love. Lauren Blakely did a wonderful job of conveying the potential problems that could arise if these two characters became more than “employer/employee” and she found a way to come to a “middle ground” where they could find their HEA. *happy dance*.
This novel can be read as a standalone, but I would consider it a spinoff. The reader gets interactions with characters in this book, who were main characters in another book of Lauren’s. For example, Harper and Nick (both characters from MISTER O). Harper is Abby’s best friend and old roommate. At the end of THE SEXY ONE, Lauren has a message about her next novels to come: Stay tuned for THE HOT ONE, Tyler (Simon’s friend) and Delaney’s second-chance love story, releasing March 2017. But first, get ready for things to heat up for Gabriel (secondary character in THE SEXY ONE) and his love interest, Penny, the woman who runs the Little Friends dog shelter, where Wyatt (WELL HUNG) and Nick (MISTER O) volunteer. THE ONLY ONE releases in December. YAY! More books to look forward to!
5 SEXY stars!
This book was a combination of Sexy, Sweet, Sensational, and Straightforward. I thought it was a fun read!
The men of Lauren Blakely’s books are the envy of every woman. I didn’t stop smiling the idiotic happy smile the entire book.
Simon, the hot single dad….oh yeah.
Abby, the young attractive nanny….uh-huh.
Chemistry that causes spontaneous combustion. Tension so thick that the reader feels it. Heat that warms your insides. Yeah, I’d say that not only is Simon the sexy one but the book too.
All your DILF fantasies will be going wild with this one! But get in line because I think that there are plenty of people interested in The Sexy One!
Yes! Yes! Yes! God bless Lauren Blakely! Lauren can combine a sweet, quick and sexy story like it’s nobody’s business! Simon, the single dad, is about to steal your heart!
Simon is a single father who is quite possibly the best dad in the entire world (next to my husband, of course). Simon does absolutely everything with the intent of being accessible to his daughter. This even includes being cordial with his ex, who cheated on him, to make life easy for his little girl. And if that doesn’t make him swoon worthy, I don’t know what will!
Abby is the nanny. The hot, young nanny who Simon just can’t get enough of. Abby thoroughly enjoys her job and takes it very serious, which is why she knows that a relationship with the man that has absolutely captured her heart won’t work. She knows what everyone will say about the Sexy One and his nanny!
Abby and Simon work together incredibly well as a team. The both know what they shouldn’t do..but that doesn’t mean they will listen. The attraction between them is amazing. Lauren never ceases to amaze me in the way she can just bring you right into the every step of the relationship and feel exactly what the couple is going through.
I enjoyed this story as it was a quick, romantic, and amazingly sexy read with no drama to it. Sure there are a few conflicts, but it didn’t have the angst that most stories do. If you are looking for a lovely, entertaining book that you can read in an afternoon, this is the one to read.
Bring on the next Lauren Blakely hottie!
Loved!
4.5*
I always thought that being a nanny would have been a fun and interesting job. And being one for a sweet and doting single father of an adorable little girl, who also happens to be out of this world hot (the dad, not the daughter- that would be weird!)…lord, can you even imagine??? Yeah, that Abby is one lucky gal, and doesn’t she know it!
This was such a cute and romantic story. Abby and Simon had a terrific relationship, even before things progressed to “how a man and a woman love each other”…it really was only natural that’s where it was headed between them. Fun, sexy, and so dreamy, The Sexy One was everything I love about a Lauren Blakely book.
3.5 stars
Well written cute romantic HEA read. Hot sexy single H and adorable nanny fall for each other and everything works out just perfectly.
I guess my lower rating is because it was too sweet and perfect. Nothing real deep or dramatic.
Solid writing, just not entertaining enough to be great.
very scripted, I was very disappointed
Enjoyable read. Abby is very likable and relatable. Although the ending is not relatable to most, it is still satisfying.
It was great
One steamy read by one of my favorite authors. I just didn’t want it to end!
Loved Simon and Abby’s story, nanny and boss fall for each other, what could go wrong? lol
Gotta love anything by Lauren.
What a fantastic romance novel! This is my favorite romance so far in Lauren Blakely’s romantic comedy series. The character of Simon, the single father who is very devoted to his 5 year old daughter, is such a turn-on. He is also kind, thoughtful, sexy, and extremely handsome, which is why it is understandable that his daughter’s nanny, Abby, is so attracted to him. Abby soon realizes though, how inappropriate it would be to fall for her boss, even if he feels the same way about her. That dilemma doesn’t stop the pair from falling hard for each other, and I fell hard for this book!
Well written story and characters. No drama HEA
