A new standalone romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author, JA Huss, and Actor/Screenwriter, Johnathan McClain. EDENI’m just a simple girl who likes dessert. And sexy men. And social media. So starting an anonymous video channel called The Sexpert as a side hustle to make up for my low-paying marketing job at Le Man Magazine seemed like a perfectly sensible career decision. Until we … like a perfectly sensible career decision. Until we went viral, my boss accused my anonymous personality of stealing his idea, and now my super sexy new boyfriend, Andrew, is out to get me.
Her. Me. Whatever.
ANDREW
I don’t want it to be her. I do not want this… sweet, delicious, shy social media nerd working at my best friend’s magazine to be the face behind those perky cupcakes on the Sexpert channel. I don’t want it to be her… because I like her. A lot. She’s funny, and quirky, and smart, and creative… and… I really, really like her. It just can’t be her.
But it is.
And now I have to choose.
My best friend?
Or… The Sexpert?

Julie Huss and Johnathan McClain continue to wow with another collaboration, this time a deliciously sexy rom com. Set in the familiar Denver Tech Center from Julie’s book world, where outrageous and funny things are bound to happen.
Eden, quirky, nerdy but perfectly sexy, is finally moving in to her own apartment at the Tech Center. She has scrimped and saved and is ready to move up in the world. As a social media liaison for a struggling magazine, Eden and her best friend do what it takes to make ends meet. Andrew, artist, free spirited tech billionaire is starting his life the Denver neighborhood as well. Eden and Andrew find themselves running into each other on awkward occasions, but their chemistry is undeniable! Andrew is tasked with helping his best friend Pierce head of Le Mans magazine find a traitor and thief among them. Eden is just trying to stay afloat. Yet what ensues is nothing short of delicious innuendo, ultra sweet and steamy moments and a few life lessons along the way.
The Sexpert is laugh out loud hilarity complete with whipped cream and a cherry! This love story will make you crave the entire case at your local bakery and a trip to the bathroom with your BOB!
I’m totally in love with The Sexpert. I was laughing out loud several times while reading. It was full of funny, serious and romance. The banter between Eden and Andrew had me laughing. Eden works at a men’s magazine as a social media expert. When wanting to move out on her own and her best friend has a baby that father isn’t involved with her job just doesn’t cut it. So they decide to start a youtube channel. Called the Sexpert. When her boss comes across it and thinks someone stole his idea he will stop at nothing to find out who the Sexpert is. His best friend Andrew can do nothing but help him find out who it is. Especially since he invented the voice technology Sexpert uses to conceal her identity. When Eden and Andrew meets the mishaps and hilarious journey begins. I love these two! ARC provided by authors.
Another deliciously phenomenal read by JA & Johnathan that gave me all the feels. I am crushing hard on Eden & Andrew. Eden is sweet and charming and makes you wish she was real because you definitely want to be her BFF. From the minute I started reading I didn’t want too stop. I love the story, the characters, the location, just everything about this book. There are lol moments and moments that will have you teary eyed. Andrew and Eden are so perfect too together, I didn’t want there story to end. Another amazing collaboration that everyone must read.
The SEXpert is amazing!! Such a fun read!! All the sexy, fun loving, good times you can have in a book. Kept me laughing all the way through. Always wondered what was going to happen next. Eden is so much fun!!!
Another fabulous book from JA Huss and Johnathan McClain! This book was fun and entertaining. It’s light reading with some funny scenes and is going to leave you with a smile on your face
Unputdownable and Groovefreakinlicious!!
Sexpert has the perfect blend of romance, angst, sweetness, sexiness, humor and filthy talk, among other things.
If you’re looking for a sweet, funny, sexy and steamy hot read, don’t overthink it. This book will have you laughing and swooning from beginning to end!!
Andrew and Eden’s story is heartwarming, funny, entertaining, smile inducing, soul warming and the best medicine for the heart!! A MUST READ!!
BEST ROMCOM I HAVE READ TO DATE IN 2018!!
ABSOBLOODYLUTELY FANTASTIC!!
This was such a fun, entertaining read! I’ve always known this author could write anything and I’d love it, but each time it’s so new and fresh and wonderful and Sexpert had the addition of some fantastic humor to push it even further up the scale of awesomeness.
It’s a good day for Eden, but when her friend calls to let her know that their sex advice vlog has gone viral, the day couldn’t get any better. Except when a man from the car stuck next to her in a traffic jam knocks on her window and suddenly the day absolutely gets better. It’s got to be too good to be true.
Andrew’s friend implores him to help track down the vlogger that has stolen his idea. They have a tight past together and so he agrees, although his mind is definitely not on the videos but on the cute and quirky woman he recently met. The more he interacts with Eden the harder he falls. And now what he needs more than anything is the truth and he’s not getting it.
I loved everything about this book! Eden was the type of heroine I love to read about. She’s kind of klutzy, definitely quirky, wears glasses, and rambles a lot but she’s not a ditz. She’s smart and kind and everyone likes her. I personally loved her! And I don’t put a lot of weight on the heroines, I’m about the heroes. But Huss did a freaking fantastic job of this one!
Andrew had a distinctive voice that I locked onto and grew to expect at every turn (McClain’s own voice?). He has a bit of sarcasm, lots of loyalty, and an abundance of humor. He also sees himself in a certain light until he’s forced to see himself from every angle that past experiences have created and that was a momentous occasion for him and myself as I lived it through his thoughts. I also loved that he found everything about Eden adorable, heartwarming, and desire inspiring. Sigh. He was pretty much perfect.
This has a very fast pace that never bogged down too much with internal monologues. The secondary characters were…interesting. Some I definitely want to know their future stories, but I’m not sure how I’d feel about Pierce’s. However, this author has always made me love characters I thought were unredeemable so I won’t prejudge if this duo does give us his story. The chemistry between Eden and Andrew was steaming and organic. The humor was mature with just a touch leaning toward immature a time or two but never enough to make me wince. There’s a very nice epilogue to wrap it all up and I was definitely content and smiling by the close of the story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’m loving the duo of Huss and McClain. They are quite the team.
This book was fun, sexy and quirky. Not the norm of what we normally get from Huss. I loved the banter and awkwardness between Andrew and Eden. It will have you laughing out loud. It had my attention from then beginning to then very end.
It was refreshing to read.
The Sexpert is such a fun read. It’s a sugar coated rom-com with heart, soul and sass. And some sexy time too. Eden and Andrew have such amazing chemistry together. I immediately fell in love with both of them. Huss and McClain have knocked it out of the park with The Sexpert. Even though it’s classified as rom-com there is a deeper more meaningful and purposeful message in the end. Make sure you read the EOBS!!!
Who would have thought that one drunken idea could change your life in such a spectacular fashion? Not Eden…
Eden is a quiet, sweet, awkward, eccentric woman who is typically very quiet and reserved, except she has one secret and no one but her best friend knows. She finally meets a guy that she actually likes but he threatens to expose all her secrets.
Andrew is finally settling down and starting his own business, so this means moving as well. He has a chance meeting, on the highway with the cutest girl and can’t stop thinking about her. He has no idea that he will see much much more of her. When his best friend asks a favor, he will eventually have to choose where his loyal truly is.
These characters are hilarious and their interactions are ones I looked forward to. Especially Eden, her awkwardness made her situation all the more endearing and I just loved her. I really enjoyed this book which was much lighter than these authors previous works but no less amazing! I definitely recommend that you check this book out.
I have to confess. When I heard that Julie was going to write a book with this Johnathan guy I was kind of leery. I mean, Julie has a very distinct writing style and she rocks the socks off of it. Then I read their first book together. I thought okay, not bad, not bad at all. I really loved it. By the end of the Sin series, I was just floored by how much Johnathan lets us see the other side of Julie. How he brings out her playful side. I think in turn she brings out a side of him that others really don’t get to see. Let’s be honest. The guy is freakin hilarious with the internal dialogues. I think this is a perfect writing team. As they release The Sexpert this is made even clearer to me. So let’s get on with my spoiler free review.
First, let me tell you. Be careful reading this book in public. You WILL laugh out loud and probably do a snort laugh like I did.
Eden is a quirky, nerdy, adorable young woman working at Le Man Magazine as a social media expert.
Andrew is new to town and the CEO of his own company. He is an artist that has switched over to an artistic technology.
Andrew has come to Colorado to set up his office because his friend Pierce runs Le Man magazine for his father. Pierce really could use Andrew in his life and vice versa. Brothers from different mothers.
Pierce is on a rampage about the Sexpert that has hit it big. The Sexpert is HIS idea! How dare some woman steal his idea?
Yep, Eden is the Sexpert. Things just get more interesting from there.
Read this book to laugh your butt off. It is so much fun to read.
4.5 stars.
I loved this book! Eden is everything. She’s awkward, random, easily flustered, sweet, positive…I adored her. Usually I struggle with the females in books but I loved Eden from the start. Andrew is….yummy. There’s something about him that is unbelievably attractive and I loved the chemistry between him and Eden.
This is one of my favourite books by these authors. It’s funny, light hearted and the characters were like a breath of fresh air. Another great book by JA Huss and Mr McClain.
I have to admit when Julie announced that she and Johnathan were going to write a romantic comedy, I didn’t know what to think. That is vastly different from what she normally writes, and her first series with Johnathan was pretty intense. Although, interacting with Johnathan on social media, he is certainly a very funny, witty guy. So I was excited and intrigued to see what this duo had in store for us.
Eden is an absolute hoot! She was SO not what I was expecting. I cannot tell you the number of laugh out loud moments I had because of something she said or did. And Andrew was a totally likeable guy from the get go.
The concept of The Sexpert is brilliant. Eden and her best friend came up with the idea of using desserts to explain certain sexual topics. Only, her boss, Pierce, suddenly claims publicly that he came up with the idea first and enlists his best friend Andrew to find out for him who the Sexpert is. What ensues in a really funny story of this guy who is trying to out the Sexpert, but ends up falling for the girl who he thinks it is.
I gotta say, I haven’t laughed this much at a book in a really long time! It was totally not expected but man did I enjoy it!! There were multiple secondary characters that I would love to find out their stories as well, and I hope that Julie and Johnathan plan to write them.
I also have to mention that I absolutely love the cover of this book! It is just perfect for this story. I can’t recommend this book highly enough if you are looking for a fun, laugh out loud read. This book is perfect for you!
The Sexpert is the start of the Tall, Dark & Handsome series from authors J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain. This book is a delicious romantic comedy, and not just because of the dessert analogies! Sweet, funny, and romantic sums it up, but really doesn’t do the book justice.
The Sexpert is filled with hilarity, awkward moments and scintillating sexy scenes. The references to Eden’s YouTube blog are wry and ribald. Balancing out the light-hearted humor are moments of thoughtful life reflection.
Eden, Andrew and Pierce are great characters. I loved each of them. Eden is sweet and a bit naive. Andrew thinks he is a chill dude, but is he really a scorned lover with a three-foot brick wall around his heart? Pierce is that character you want to hate, but just when you think he is a total jerk, he does something totally thoughtful. What do you call a protagonistic antagonist?
The romantic comedy is set in downtown Denver, and the authors give their readers perfectly painted scenes. It’s almost like being on a walking tour with them. The conclusion and epilogue provide a satisfying HFN for Eden and Andrew. I’m looking forward to more of this sweet and spicy series, and I’m secretly hoping that Pierce will be featured in the next book. If you’re not already a fan of Huss and McClain, you will be after reading The Expert.
The Sexpert is a fun, cute novel by JA Huss and Johnathan McClain. Eden is an awkward girl in a big company who is trying to branch out on a side job as a podcast sex expert. Her boss’s best friend Andrew has been tasked with trying to find out who this Sexpert is. Sexy times and shenanigans are had. It’s a nice, cute little story.
Eden needs to make a little extra cash on the side from her job at Le Man Magazine so she sets up a UTube channel called Sexpert. One problem, her boss, Pierce, thinks the IP for the channels name is his idea and was stolen. When Andrew, CEO of Aureality enterprises, bumps into Eden during a freeway traffic jam neither was ready to find out that he is Eden’s boss’s best friend & about to help him find out who is running that UTube channel! What’s a girl to do? She really likes Andrew but when he figures out she is behind that channel will it all be for nothing? Once Andrew figures out it is Eden running the Sexpert channel will he hide the truth from his friend or risk losing the first women he has felt anything for in a long time. When you fall for the enemy of sorts what do you do? Told in Dual POV, a great romantic comedy and enjoyable read from J&J!!
This book is not what I was expecting from JA Huss. However, it’s full of laugh out loud moments, crazy situations, and made me crave some super sugary desserts. I’m excited to know that there week be more from the TDH community, and I can only imagine how much crazier it’s going to be!
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Eden is the nerdy, awkward girl who happens to have one very fantastic asset. She and her best friend Zoey decide to use that asset as well as their social media talent to start up a YouTube blog called Sexpert. To keep Sexpert anonymous, Eden uses Voice Lift set to the Sultry Siren not only to disguise her voice, but also to fit the Sexpert image.
When Eden’s boss hears about the Sexpert video’s he’s outraged. He’s been working on his own idea called Sexpert and believes someone stole it. Pierce asks his best friend Andrew, creator of Voice Lift to help him find the culprit. The same day, Andrew and Eden meet and dance awkwardly around their attraction to each other.
Fun, cute, nerdy and a little bit serious. I really enjoyed this one very much. Romcom is my favorite trope and these two authors did a great job with Eden and Andrew’s hilariously awkward romance. For the most part, their story was light and fun. It did get a bit serious and I found myself strangely satisfied with the conflict and how it didn’t turn out how I thought it would.
I was happy to read in the author notes that they plan to write more in the Tall, Dark, and Handsome neighborhood. I can’t decide if I want to see Zoey or Pierce’s story next. Or maybe Myrtl.
This book is so good.
Eden works as a social media at Le Man Magazine. To make ends meet, Zoey and Eden come up with the idea of The Sexpert. Where they do videos on sex. One day it goes viral on the local radio and their luck changes and they get so many hits.
Andrew just moved into town to work with his best friend Pierce. He notices Eden and they start going together. They both like each so much but they both are scared. She is keeping a secret and he is wanting her to tell him the truth. In the end they both hurt one another and they both come to realize that.
Eden and Zoey get what they want and needed. Andrew and Eden forgive one another and their love for one another is amazing. I love how they worked it out and got back together.
I love this book and can’t wait for the others to come out. Huss/McClain you guys did it again, absolutely amazing. ARC provided by the authors. I definitely recommend this book.
Huss and McClain’s foray into the world of romantic comedy was a fun time. It was the perfect blanace of comedy and romance and it dealt with relevant topics as well as taking us along for the ride for the journey of self-discovery both Eden and Andrew found themselves on.
The premise hooked me and the characters reeled me in. I adored Eden’s awkward quirkiness and I enjoyed Andrew’s artistic and compassionate way of looking at things. Their interactions were entertaining no matter what they were doing – looking at art or mountains, discussing work or sex. That they couldn’t ignore the pull they felt despire knowing they could each make life messy for the other was fun and compelling. And I appreciated how they each learned so much about themselves in the process of trying to figure out how to do the right thing – decide what the right thing even was. Sigh. So good.
I look forward to more in this series and hope to see more of Eden and Andrew. Huss and McClain impressed me here. RomCom from this duo seems promising and I’m excited.
