Her husband might have left her to juggle three kids and the family business, but enough wine and girl talk can get a lady through anything.A little more wine, and one girls’ night later, she’s also armed with a very special sort of bucket list, her girlfriends insist the drought she’s been in has to end, and Emerson’s more than willing. I have read Sex Bucket List now twice and each time I laugh until it hurts. But I also cry because there’s so much that’s familiar. This is a story so many people can relate to on so many levels. It blows my mind how Ms. Lane can dig so deep into uncomfortable or difficult issues that we all have in life, and be able to put just the right words to said issues and describe what so many of us feel but can’t articulate and explain as well as she can.
A fun read
This book was entertaining & really enjoyed it.
Enjoyed this. Cute, quick read! You won’t be sorry!
Loved this book.
A good summer read. Not too heavy and cute!
I just went through my Kindle purchases to see if I had read any other Prescott Lane books only to discover this was the first one I read, but not the first one I owned. Boy am I glad I found her via Bookbub.
While the premise of the book, a recently divorced woman in her 40s attempting to accomplish her sex bucket list, suggests the book will be erotica, I don’t feel that it was. Please don’t take this to mean there are no steamy parts, but it’s a very different story than what you typically find in the erotica genre.
Emerson has decided to finally put herself first, so while her kids spend every other week with their father, she goes about self-care. Small things like buying new lingerie for herself and visiting the spa, simple but things that can make a difference. Although, she doesn’t realize it her employee Mateo, and her brother’s good friend, has been biding his time.
Mateo, being the security specialist he is, has been observing Emerson. He noticed when she removed her wedding rings, and he noticed when she begins to be more receptive to flirting and a possible romantic connection. Maybe he’ll finally get an opportunity to pursue Emerson.
Be warned, this book is filled with awesome female friendships, romance, steamy scenes, but it also addresses family dynamics. Emerson must figure out how to be a single parent, with three kids living at home, and pursue a new romantic relationship all without feeling neglectful and guilty towards her children. She must learn that you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of other people.
The Sex Bucket List from the outside looks like a cute RomCom, but from the inside reads like an emotional real life romance, sweet and funny without becoming sappy or slapstick.
“It makes sense I’d have a sex list, though. I mean, why not? I’ve got grocery lists, Christmas lists, to-do lists, even honey-do lists—minus the honey. I’m the queen of list making. It helps me keep some semblance of order in my life. Those of you with kids and a job and countless after-school activities know what I’m talking about. So why not a sex bucket list?”
Emerson is learning how to be a single mom, divorced with three kids and juggling work and family. She is a caregiver in all aspects of her life and puts others first before her own wants and needs. But when she comes across her “Sex Bucket List” that was compiled during a drunken girls night, she decides to carve out a little time and attention for herself.
“I’ve been spending my time lately on my sex bucket list. And it’s not time spent on sexual freedom or experimentation, but on finding myself again, feeling worthy of love again, loving myself again.”
Boy did I swoon for Mateo!! Waiting and watching Emerson and biding his time until she was ready to move on with her life. He is so perfect for Emerson who deserves someone to love and care for her.
“You take care of everyone.”
“You notice all that?”
He inches closer, looking down at me, and my heart pumps hard. “I notice everything about you.”
Oh my God, my heart’s about to pump out of my chest. But I tell myself maybe he just means it’s his job as head of security to pay attention, to be observant. But maybe not—after all, he sure is standing close to me. And he looks and smells fantastic. Powered by my list, I place a hand on my hip, and in my sassiest tone, say, “Are you wondering what it’d be like for me to take care of you?”
His head lowers to my ear, his warm breath sending shivers over my skin. “I’m wondering if you’ll ever let me take care of you.”
I loved this story and didn’t want it to end! I really want to read more and know more about the amazing characters in this book!

Prescott books never disappoint me, I have read three of her book so far and they’re all 5 stars.
Everyone makes lists, right? Bucket list, grocery list, to-do list but A Sex Bucket list?
I thought this was a good idea but ultimately it’s a put yourself first and loves yourself list.
When your husband leaves you feeling unloved, unattractive and undesirable thank god your friends rally around you and make you do a Sex Bucket List.
Mateo, her employee stumbles on this list and makes it his mission to tick everything off. This makes for some very sexy time. The best thing about him is he wants to care for and love her and it’s exactly what she’s needs and deserve.

There’s an art to loving someone. And just like real art, it’s subjective. One person’s way of showing love doesn’t work for everyone. It’s delicate. And just like real art, sometimes you mess up and have to start over. Sometimes the piece can be saved, and sometimes it can’t.
My Review:
After only reading two of her books, I enthusiastically and unequivocally adore Prescott Lane and want to follow her around like a rabid fangirl. I do believe I could read her work every day and never tire of her witty word-craft. Her humor is crisp and clever; her writing is amusing, smart, observant, and keenly insightful; and her characters are endearingly flawed and knowable. I quickly fell in love with Mateo; he was a god among men and the most perfect and patient of boyfriends. More, please!

So I have to say that The Sex Bucket List wasn’t what I expected when I started to read it. It was a very enjoyable read, but the direction it went was not what I thought would happen.
This book was so much more than a book filled with sex and crossing off stuff from a list. This storyline had so much more depth and emotion written into it. That is probably one of the reasons I love Prescott Lane’s books. She gives us stories that are built from real life issues. She gives us the raw and gritty truth of things, but also gives us a great love story built in. This book was no different.
The Sex Bucket List was so much more than a love story, it was about a woman who finds herself and learns to put herself first but also finding the right balance with her kids also. I know this might be confusing but I don’t want to give the whole books away and ruin it for others. Just know this is a book I believe all women should read.
This book is a complete standalone and is told solely from Emerson’s POV. Emerson is a 40 something divorced woman raising 3 kids ages 16, 14 and 7. She is trying to navigate through life and finding the balance of having a life for herself but making sure her kids are happy as well. Enter Mateo….he works as Head of Security for her families airline company. Mateo has been falling for Emerson for some time now, but from a distance…..just waiting for her to be ready 😉 When he stumbles on her Sex Bucket List. Taking things into his own hands he pursues Emerson. What we got from there was a fun journey but also a serious journey to finding happiness.
I really liked Emerson’s character, and being a mom myself, I understood her feelings and actions all too well when it came to her kids. I will say there was a time towards the end I didn’t like her much and thats because the storyline took a turn I wasn’t expecting. As for Mateo….he was scrumptious!!! I loved everything about this man. Yes he was about 12 years or so younger than Emerson, but you never could tell. He was set in his life and what he wanted. I loved how he did everything for Emerson, he was just concerned about making sure she was taken care of, even if he was hurt in the process. Every woman is looking for a man like Mateo.
I loved all the secondary characters that we met in this story, with the exception of Ryan (Emerson’s Ex husband)….I wanted to throttle him so many different times. All the others were fabulous and friends every person wishes they had in their lives.
If you are looking for a fun and entertaining read, that is truly so much more than that, then this is a book you should read!!
The Sex Bucket List was kinda disappointing for me. I thought it started off really well and I was ready to go all in, but somewhere along the way I was ready for the story to just be over. I’m all for women getting back their confidence and finding themselves. I liked how Emerson was ready to put herself first for once. She was definitely on the right track and Mateo was so perfect for her. I wish I had a Mateo myself because he was perfection. He didn’t care that she was older, has three kids, and was divorced. The man wanted her and made no secret about it. He understood that her kids came first and even supported her decisions. He never overstepped, instead stood up and by her. I swooned real hard.
But my problem with this book had to do with her ex husband Ryan. I found his character to be manipulative. He divorced her and when she showed any sign she was over him and doing her own thing, he started fucking with her head, and all of a sudden wanted her back. He frankly treated her like shit. It made me angry how she pretty much always gave in to him and never put enough of a fight when he was in the wrong. This brings me to her kids. Now I don’t have any experience being a child of divorced parents, but her kids were brats. I also felt they were emotionally manipulative due to the divorce that happened two years prior and her own enabling. The second one of those kids were crying she was running to them. Her daughter and youngest were disrespectful to her and I wasn’t with all that.
The other thing that bothered me and this my personal preference is that I hate when reading about older women is that they always have to be so insecure. Emerson had only been with her ex husband and was super insecure as to why Mateo wanted to be with her. After a while I was questioning it myself. Idk I’m tired of seeing it and I’ve seen plenty of women in their 40’s with lots of confidence and sex appeal.
Needless to say I was disappointed with The Sex Bucket List. The story isn’t even so much about the sex list as its casually mentioned between Emerson and Mateo, but I didn’t think the list was really all that important or a driving force for the story. I would say I liked the first third of this story the best and it had a nice ending.
Stand up for yourself
It was okay…
Not as erotic as I thought it would be but actually not bad as a story. Entertaining
This was a fun book to read…a twist on the sex bucket list storyline. It was realistic with the split family, and trying to have a new relationship with children around. It had lots of steamy scenes throughout.
Way better than I expected! Although the title sounds daring this book is sexy but not tacky, and has a storyline that was more compelling than most. I was so pleased that the heroine got a well deserved happy ending. Definitely worth reading.
Short review. The characters felt real even though a few of them drove me crazy. I really felt for Emerson she was always putting everyone’s needs first and her own last, I admired how hard she did try to fight for her marriage despite the fact that she could see it was already over. I didn’t like her ex-husband Ryan he blame the fact that Emerson shared one kissed with another man that she immediately told him about on the reason why their marriage fell apart. Even though Emerson had told him more than once before that happen that their marriage was in trouble and they needed to go to a marriage council, he took no responsibility for his part in why and how it ended. Ryan did love Emerson but he waited way to long after their divorce to show that he was willingly to fight for her. I love Mateo he was so patient and wonderful to Emerson and showed her that no matter what or how hard things get he will always fight for her and respect her choices even if it leads to him getting his heartbroken.
