Can a devastating injury actually be a blessing for Reese and Carly?Life has finally started to settle down for Sergeant Reese Sanders after his devastating injury overseas. Discharged from the Army and now with a good job at Courage Reins, an equine therapy center at Three Rivers Ranch, he’s finally found happiness. Then down-on-her luck Carly Watters becomes his veteran care coordinator and … veteran care coordinator and wants to assist him with tasks he most definitely doesn’t need her help with—until a horrific fall puts him right back where he was years ago: Injured and depressed.
Carly dislikes small towns almost as much as she loathes cowboys. But she finds herself faced with both when she gets assigned to Reese’s case. Because of his injury, she moves to Three Rivers to help him full-time, and her unhappiness follows her around like a dark cloud.
Reese will need to let go of his embarrassment and pride to allow Carly to help him—and love him. And Carly will have to admit that living in small-town Three Rivers is actually a blessing—because it led her to Reese. Do they have the humility and faith to make their relationship more than professional?more
I thoroughly enjoyed this cowboy client romance. Reese has been flirting around the edges of this series for a few books now, originally I wondered if he’d be getting together with Lex, and while I didn’t know too much going into this book, I knew I’d come to love it. How could I not? I loved figuring out where the title came from!
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Story: 4.5 stars
*I received this audiobook in exchange for my honest review*
Reese and Carly are both insecure for different reasons, but their relationship gives them both strength and feelings of ‘being enough’.
Reese is getting along fine when his Veteran Care Coordinator changes. Suddenly, his coordinator is a beautiful young woman and Reese is smitten. At first, he pushes away her offers of help, but then allows her to do little things, just to keep her around. When Reese is re-injured, however, Carly jumps in to help and Reese, who is ashamed to be seen as weak, is a growly, grump. Carly perseveres, though, and as Reese heals, their relationship deepens to the point where Carly could lose her job over it.
Carly feels that she doesn’t measure up to her mom’s expectations. She has an older sister and a twin who are much more successful than she. So she covers her insecurities with her beauty and a cheerful, if sometimes fake, smile.
This love story is fraught with realistic situations that need to be overcome for our hero and heroine to get together.
Narration; 4.5 stars
As usual, Ms. Doughty does a wonderful job! She has perfected a cowboy drawl and has a voice low enough to make the male voices believable.
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
I have all of this series. They are clean and interesting reading.
Love her books
Terrific
What a wonderful continuation of Three Rivers and Courage Reins. This time Reese is the one finding love with Carly his new helper. But he fell hard and so did she, but it could cause her to loose her job. Is love worth it.
Absolutely love this series!
I enjoy any book that is written by Liz. Her characters are real and go thru real-life situations.
Texas Cowboy Veteran Romance
This is a clean and cozy romance featuring a wounded warrior cowboy. The plot is special and realistic. The story goes by quickly and left this reader wanting more. The characters, their emotions and their reactions are spot on realistic and believable. I have read other books in the Three Rivers Romance series and this is my favorite, so far. This novel can easily stand-alone and there is not a cliffhanger ending.
I found myself not wanting to close this book , and when it ended I was wanting to read more about them ,and I read the last chapter slowly to draw out the end .
I love Liz Isaacson, her novels are truly wonderful! It is hard to find an author who can distinguish between a Christian Romance Novel and a Contemporary Romance Novel, but Ms. Isaacson does it and she does it well! I highly recommend every novel that I have read, and I hope that every novel I plan to read in the future is of the same quality!
“The Seventh Sergeant” shows the broken side of a veteran, the physical pain instead of just the mental agony that stays behind after the war. Reese Sanders was Pete’s first patient at Courage Reins and has finally began to find his way in the war with his disabilities, that is until an accident might leave him paralyzed permanently. Can Carly Watters help Reese fight his way out of the deep hole of depression? Can there be a love story here?
I recommend this ten novel series, each one is better than the last. Very well written, it’s like a story coming off the pages before your very eyes.
Love how the author intertwines morality
Wonderful read. Easy to read, loveable characters, humor, romance and always a little twist. Highly recommend this new author (to me). I enjoyed this book so much that I purchased three more. Definitely will be reading more by this author.
Enjoyed the book. Well-written, moved quickly with realistic characters.
Enjoyed this book
Enjoyable episode in a series that’s a favorite. Love the 3 Rivers Ranch and Courage Reins settings.
Love this book series. From start to finish it is very hard to put the book down.
Liz Isaacson’s books are always wonderful. I love following her characters from one book to another.
Good Christian romance. It was an interesting twist (for a romance) that the characters figured out they liked each other early on, but were having ethical and then financial issues. (The financial issues themselves were not a surprise from page 1. Carly wears a three hundred dollar pair of orchid satin heels, on a trip to a RANCH. Seriously?? So that was the author’s slick way of pointing out immediately that this character is a city girl who isn’t great at economizing.)
Easy read. Enjoyed the author’s path of the book
This book has some twists in it but had a realist story line. Showing not everything is black and white.
