Will Heidi’s cooking lessons turn into life lessons for five unlikely students? Heidi Troyer cooks up the idea of teaching classes in the art of Amish cuisine in her Holmes County, Ohio, home. But is it a recipe for drama when five very different men and women answer the advertisement? Join a class of unlikely Ohioans who take cooking lessons at Lyle and Heidi Troyer’s Amish farm. A woman … Lyle and Heidi Troyer’s Amish farm. A woman engaged to marry, an expectant mother estranged from her family, a widowed mom seeking to simplify, a Vietnam vet who camps on the Troyer’s farm, and an Amish widower make up the mismatched lot of students.
Class members share details of their disappointing lives, work to solve a mystery, and stir some romance into the pot. Soon Heidi’s cooking lessons turn into life lessons as they each share their challenges. . .and their souls are healed one meal at a time. Is this what God had in mind when Heidi got the idea for cooking classes?

Not the author’s best. It was an alright read.
I could hardly wait to get to the recipes in the end of the story, but didn’t want to skip any reading time. Some interesting twists and turns in this story and now I am a fan of this author.
Nice clean romantic story. No mystry Just a nice book
Simple faith, harmony with cultural differences and good story line make for an enjoyable read.
Enjoyed the read. The cooking was so clear I could see the results. The characters were real and true to life. I feel inspired to teach, learn, and meet others in new settings.
Heartwarming with no bad language. A joy to read.
This is an Amish book with both Amish and English characters. It is not often that I have read such an intermingling of these two groups, yet it felt natural. It is also a more modern story than most that I have read in the past.
It was nice to see the recipes at the end as well.
Loved the inspirational messages and the support of the characters for each other though they came from different walks of life.
A good read about mysterious lives and counseling.more
Loved it
Wanda Brunstetter never fails to entertain. I especially loved it because the story takes place in that part of Ohio where I grew up.
I liked this book as it showed a side of the Amish that interacted well with the folks that were not Amish. It was cool how they brought them in their home.
Delightful reading. I highly recommend it. Captivating story . . . holding my interest from beginning to end.
I loved the characters in this book and the fact that this book was very inspirational. This book was not preachy but really did make you examine the hectic pace of life and your priorities. The writer did not excellent job in portraying the Amish life
I love the books about the Amish. They face real life problems and cope with them. One thing I like about them is there is no graphic sex scenes. Pleasantly refreshing
I enjoyed this book and thought it was unique in the Amish books genre. I plan to the rest in the series.
These books set in Amish themes never fail to satisfy the reader with Goodyear stories that touch your heart. Always a good choice when you need to be reassured that there is good in the world and problems can be over come.
Enjoyable but rather predictable. A quick, pleasant read.
Beautiful story of the power of love, compassion, community, and mutual respect. Some unexpected surprises and a sweet climax.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and learning more about Amish and some of their cooking. Most fun is at the very end, all the recipes talked about in the book are included at the end. Plus a bonus of 20 recipes you can download free.
