I absolutely loved this! Anna Campbell writes beautifully and with wonderful wit. This is the story of a widow determined to have her independence and all the perks that come with it, while living in fear of another marriage. A bit of a conundrum when she finds herself in love with and being pursued by her friend’s brother. I just wanted her to surrender to Stone who’s ever so charming, but he’s got his work cut out for him, poor man 😉
A delightful read!
They’re in love, she doesn’t want to be, and it’s his first time. Let the tangles ensue. Great introduction to the other widows.
The Seduction of Lord Stone is the first book in the Dashing Widows series by Anna Campbell. This series is based on three young widows just out of mourning who decide to have some fun…
Our first widow is Caroline (Caro), Lady Beaumont. Caro worries that she’ll die without ever having lived. So after spending 10 dreary years married, she decides to take a lover. She wants no ties and has no plans to marry in the future.
Our hero is Silas Nash, Viscount Stone. He’s the brother of one of our other widows, Helena. He’s also become a close friend to Caro. What Caro doesn’t know is Silas is in love with her and wants marriage and a HEA!
Silas was such a great hero. He is determined to change Caro’s mind and goes to extreme measures at times to prevent her from choosing another man. Caro who is so set to never marry struggles when she realizes she may have more than friendly feelings for Silas.
I love a good story where a Rake gives up his ways to pursue the woman he loves, and this was an excellent one! A fantastic quick read that is an excellent start to this series. I enjoyed Silas and Caro and look forward to getting to know the other widows and the men they end up with!
The question : Which book do you wish was twice as long? The Dashing Widows novella series were fun. Anna Campbell could have written a novel for each one.
Intriguing, Romantic & Heartwarming
A Delightful & Romantic Story.
This Book is well written with likeable & Funny Characters.
The only criticism I have about this Book is that it came to an abrupt end & I didn’t feel like we had the courtesy of knowing what happened to the H&h. Needless to say I have read the entire series & know what does happen. But for anyone who reads this Book, you may want to read the rest of the Series.
I picked this up because of the storyline about several widows finding their new place in the world without their husbands. They’re unwilling to fulfill the Regency society’s expectations. This was the story of one widow, Lady Caroline Beaumont and the viscount that comes to love her. This is an older book that has been on my TBR shelf a while. I’m sorry I waited so long to read it. I’ve always loved Anna Campbell’s witty dialogue style and her characters are always so much fun. If you love Regencies, I highly recommend this book.
It may take me awhile to get to the rest of the widows’ stories but they’re now on my TBR list.
I’ve read a couple of other Dashing Widows books by Anna Campbell, which I confess I liked a bit more, but this was a good friend to lovers offering. Caroline, Lady Beaumont is a widow and ready to come out of mourning and enjoy her independence. Silas Nash, Viscount Stone, is the older brother of one of Caroline’s close friends. Caroline enlists Silas’ aid in helping her pick someone to have an affair with. She doesn’t plan on remarrying. Silas is not overjoyed at the prospect as he has admired her from the moment he first met her. It is an interesting conundrum facing Silas. I was somewhat disappointed in Caroline as she denies his profession of love yet she gets jealous when she believes he has an interest in her good friend Fenella. I do enjoy Ms. Campbell writing and prose. The phrasing Anna used and how she described Silas and Caroline’s first sexual encounter was so beautiful. I felt like I was there, as it was very emotional. I look forward to reading the other books in the series.
This is a wonderful regency romance novel. It is quite a delightful read. The author is a great storyteller that you would not want to put the book down. There isn’t a single part of it that dragged or got boring at all. The dialogues and internal reflections of the characters allowed us to know the characters and feel like they were real live persons. The novel was not long and yet it was well developed up to the HEA ending which was not abrupt at all and still had an epilogue. I highly recommend it.
A delightful story of marriage, widows and freedom. Just the right amount of steamy situations, funny lines with great characters. The author put feeling into this story, makes you feel part of it. Overall a good read…
I loved Caroline, a beautiful widow on the hunt for a lover!
Handsome Viscount Silas, who is in love with her enlisted to help her find a lover. But, it’s so funny how each male she aks’s him about, he has a funny description for some of them, or lies about them.
I really enjoyed this book!
I started losing interest halfway through, didn’t hold my interest even though I usually like historicals.
Great story line.
Love the Dashing Widows!!
This was an ok story. The writing was good and the storyline interesting but something was missing. I had a hard time getting into it and I’m not sure why. I think maybe because I couldn’t connect with the characters. Truthfully, I didn’t like the heroine all that much. The hero was a little more likeable but lacked the ability to captivate me completely. The story was by no means terrible, it just didn’t fit into my preferences.
I’ve Anna Campbell great characters and book would highly tecommend
I love Anne Campbell’s first two books, Claiming the Courtesan and Untouched. This story I didn’t like as much, but it was entertaining. The Seduction of Lord Stone was not as intense as her first novels. It was a sweet story with a great hero, but the heroine got on my nerves several times. She just didn’t know what she wanted. She had this wonderful man who loved her but because she had a bad marriage before, she didn’t want his love, even when she finds out she loves him too! I wanted to kick her, but I understood her fear of being under another man’s control. I will definitely read the other two books in Anne Campbell’s Dashing Windows series.
I liked the widow’s spunk. It was nice to have a female lead who doesn’t want a husband.
I liked the premise of the story and the actions of the characters.
A little too predicable.
A great beach read
