In order to love, she must first seduce… destiny he never expected.
Violet Danvers’s life takes a complete turn when the king executes her husband for treason. Now he vows she will either wed his favored knight or suffer his punishment. With help from her husband’s ally, the king’s cousin, he sends her to his comrade in Scotland. He gains one promise from her, never to return to England, even if she must seduce the Highlander to gain his aid.
Even with the five rules of enticement, Violet’s seduction doesn’t come easy. Callum is broken of spirit, but she is not one to easily surrender to defeat. With laughter and grace, The Seduction of Laird Sinclair might lead them both to lose their hearts.

A beautifully intense story by author Kara Griffin. I really enjoy storylines that occur in the Scottish Highlands and Ms. Griffin does an excellent job of taking her readers back in time to an age of strife and violence but also one filled with an elemental code of honor and chivalry that we could use in the world today! This was a well-researched novel that seemed to accurately depict realistic situations. A history lesson presented in a way that most of us wish we would have been able to learn it when we were still in school!!

If you like Historical fiction you’ll enjoy this book. I was drawn in from from the first page and couldn’t put this book done amazing characters and a captivating and engaging storyline
oh my gosh this book was so good. Violet’s husband was excutied for treason by Richard II, He then tried to force her to marry a guy who she hated for years. Richard’s cousin who will become Henry IV helped to get Violet out of england and to the laird Sinclair who he had met earlier and became a friend of. Laird Sinclair had been wound both in spirit and physical. Violet has to heal him and teach him to love again

I not much into historical romances but decided to give this one a chance and I loved Callum and Violets story both have broken hearts and spirits. I had myself cheering for an HEA ending from the start. The storyline flowed smoothly from beginning to the end.

This was a captivating tale full of twists and turns and brilliant characters. I absolutely loved the women in this book!!! And the men too, but the women truly make this an outstanding escape from reality. Trust, family issues, sibling rivalry, loyalty, injustice, betrayal, favors to be repaid, jealousy, determination, grief, loss, blackmail, friendship, politics, inner strength, sacrifice, seduction, happiness, hope, and love were some of the undercurrents in this delicious steamfest.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This is my first time reading something by Ms. Griffin. It is the first book in the Lairds of the North series. I love different genres within historical romance, so I was excited to read this by a new-to-me author. I was not disappointed. This book not only had romance, but mystery and adventure which made the story all the more intriguing. Callum is the new laird of his clan and has so many burdens to shoulder. Violet is his sweet solace – she is so caring and loving towards Callum and provides the support he needs. The characters of Callum and Violet were both very well-developed and had great personalities which gave them an authentic quality. The storyline was interesting and kept my interest till the end. I also liked the careful attention to detail that was portrayed throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and am looking forward to the next installment!

This is my first Kara Griffin tale and I’ll definitely be reading more. I enjoyed this engaging story of love, loyalty, duty and intrigue.
The characters were interesting and likeable. The banter was witty and humorous. The plot was filled with suspense, intrigue, mystery, murder and romance. The chemistry between the main characters sizzled.
Thank you so much Kara for this wonderful reading experience.
This review was a wee bit hard for me to put into words. You see, I don’t like being overly critical of a book, especially when it had some elements I did really enjoy. At the end of the day and book, however, I got to be me by being truthful to myself. So here goes ..
Kudos to the author for the unusual main couple set up. That usually doesn’t work for me, but she juggled it in such a way I didn’t object. Thank you especially for Callum not claiming to be in love with his lying wench of a deceased wife. No, there wasn’t much to like about her…ever. The torch he carried for her now was more of anger and regret from a hard lesson learned. I’ll just leave it at he was quite gullible/naive years ago and should have seen the writing on the castle wall at the verra beginning.
I did feel and enjoy the main couple’s hot, sizzling at first glance chemistry and banter. I can take an “I want you, but don’t think I can have you” theme. In fact, it can be epic. But I prefer it not be served with heaping doses of wimpy, wishy-washy thinking and behavior.
Violet’s situation was quite different from Callum’s but a tad similar. She had a handsome, pleasant, liked, respected good guy, but mostly absent husband but was not deeply in love with him. Necessity led them to the nuptial altar. She seemed to grieve the loss of a good friend more than anything else when he died. She did love their three year old young daughter, Cora.
What eventually began to kill this story line for me is I can only take so much knuckleheadedness. At least four harmful, in some cases eye rolling scenarios set up to hurt/endanger Violet and at the same time made her look like an idiot for keeping her trap shut about them. Musing about them in her head doesn’t count, folks. One in particular was quite deadly, scary and would have made a great scene for Callum to come to the rescue crawling on his knees to her bedside, but, no, it didn’t turn out that way. Brushed under the rug was more like it.
Throw in the large cast of characters talked about or making appearances, too many, at times out there, complex scenarios of other people’s past and present misdeeds wrecking havoc, along with overly verbiage in general had the words and plot crawling at a snail’s pace. I found myself really wanting the book to end with Violet being reunited with a certain someone she’s been looking for. You know it isn’t a good sign when you are skimming like crazy wanting it all to wrap up. This resulted in my conflicted review. Though I liked parts, overall, the writing didn’t stay consistently on point, so to speak.
Title: The Seduction of Laird Sinclair, Series: Lairds of the North (Book 1), Author: Kara Griffin, Pages: 308, pub. 6/8/20, stand-alone but part of a series, graphic smex later in book, no OW drama. OM seem to always want her, felt overly long/drawn out.

There are several twists, turns, danger, drama, hot alpha male with a great romance with is fast paced historical romance page turner that I loved.

Although the characters are more modern than Medieval, this is a delightful love story with suspense and humor. Lots of humor!

The first book in the Lairds of the North series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Callum Sinclair and Violet Danvers’s story of a broken man and the widow of a traitor. They will have to overcome alot to be together. I want to read the next book in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
At a skirmish on the border of Scotland and England, Callum Sinclair is turned upon by his own clan. Severely wounded he’s saved by Henry Bolingbrook. When he returns home, his brother is dead and he is now the Laird. Soon Henry calls in his favor from Callum for saving his life, to protect Violet Danvers from King Richard II. Violet is to seduce Callum to insure she can stay, but the immediate attraction will make it easier, or will it. A difficult emotional relationship ensues. Several murders are a key element to the story.
I enjoyed this book, even though Callums’ continuous treatment of Violet was frustrating to read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Lady Violet had a good husband, even if he didn’t bring out any passion in her. He married her to keep her away from a knight who murdered her father and burned their house. When he is executed for treason; said knight is given her as a token of good will via the king. Her friend helps her get safe passage to his friend, Callum, who he saved after a battle. Callum has had a hard life, his wife is cold to him and only commutated the marriage but never returned to his bed. It gave him a daughter who he cherishes. Upon returning from a war he finds his brother dead, and learns his wife died in childbirth. Coming to terms with his arm making it so he can’t fight, losing his brother and his wife’s betrayal; he hides in his quarters. Is Lady Violet enough to bring him out to be the laird his people need? Can they find who betrayed them and tried to murder Callum on the battlefield and who succeeded in ending his brothers death?
This book was slow at first but once it got going it was captivating. I would recommend.
The Seduction of Laird Sinclair (Scottish Historical Romance) by Kara Griffin
Story starts out with Callum and he’s going to lead a fight with newly trained men but they are overrun by so many more and are defeated.
He’s mortally wounded and just wants to die with his weapon but the man that finds him knows his healer can fix him.
Meanwhile in England: Violet and she’s discovered her husband, has been killed and the man in charge is keeping her daughter til she marries the man she wants no part of.
A friend of her husband, Edward comes to her rescue and will take her to Scotland where a man there owes him a favor.
Violet arrives at the keep and she learns she can seduce the laird and get what she needs. She does favor him and he favors her as he’s lost his wife also…
Dela is Callum’s daughter and although she may not be his flesh and blood Violet wants to tend to her needs and takes care of her in the castle, keeping others away from her.
Others want to not only harm Dela but Violet as well. So many secrets and truth comes out and it’s nothing is what it seems with the fireball above in the sky.
Callum’s grandmother has a bit of knowledge and wisdom and leads him to find out the truth.
Edward comes to take Violet back to England but she convinces him otherwise…..
Adult scenes and at times things are confusing because of all the people being introduced. Family chart at the start of the story really helps keep things straight.
Enjoyed this book because I was able to learn some legends about thistle and makes sense as I’ve watched movies in this time frame, location, daily details of chores and gardening, strategy of fighting and outwitting others and I like a good tale. Love how guys banter with one another.
Can’t wait to read more of this series.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
What did the ball of fire bring?
A widow must escape or be forced to wed a man of the king’s choice. Now, this is the same king that had her husband executed for treason so I doubt she really feels he has her best in mind. With help she leaves England with the understanding she must never return. Now Violet has another problem she must convince Callum to marry her to help ensure her safety. Here is the problem Callum has no desire to trust or love ever again. There is some spice in this one and a good amount of drama. This book has so many outstanding characters it made it a joy to read but I will be honest a bit confusing at times. It is a good story I enjoyed it. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
