Eeny, meeny, miny, mo.
I’ve got a secret you don’t know.
Caiden Cavendish is under my skin. The Four have switched from being my enemies to my closest friends.
But not everything has changed. Two truths remain…my life is still in danger, and my mother is hiding something.
So many questions, and no answers.
What secrets lie buried in Alstone?
The lies, the secrets, they’ll come undone.
… answers.
What secrets lie buried in Alstone?
The lies, the secrets, they’ll come undone.
I’m the monster you can’t outrun.
Note – this book is not a standalone, and should be read after The Lies We Tell.

Still so good! I found this one to be more centered around the on going mystery rather than the romance, but there was just enough of both to keep me happy
The Secrets We Hide is the second book in Becca Steele’s series The Four, which is an enemies to lovers college bully romance.
After the cliffhanger in The Lies We Tell, this story immediately picks up from there and launches back into the tale of Winter, Caiden and the Four. The title of the book is perfect, as this book is filled with secrets that are slowly unraveling.
As per the first book in the series, this story is filled with heat, secrets, hatred, emotion and more and lovers of this trope will definitely enjoy this story. I can’t wait to continue this series with the third book.
3.75 Stars This installment of this series picks up where the first book ended. There’s quite a few OMG moments in this and the ending makes me need the next book so bad. I REALLY hope the answers are there and The Four stay as strong as they seem to have gotten in this one. I volunteered to read and review a complementary copy of this. All opinions are my own.
The tension just keeps building, I’m so addicted to this group. I love the banter, the relationships between them all, the loyalty they share.
Winter and Cade’s relationship – while it is beautiful – wasn’t the main thing the story focused on (in my opinion) but it worked in so well with the storyline.
I have so many more questions that need answers now!
Diving into book 3 right now!
This was another fantastic read from an author I definitely should of read sooner.
Yet again I couldn’t look away, and was white knuckling my kindle from cover to cover.
I actually can’t say much more, as since it’s the middle book of this couples story, I don’t want to ruin a single moment of this journey that I highly recommend everyone experiences.
This book picks up right where the first one left us with that jaw dropping cliffhanger. Get ready for a lot more mystery, suspense, drama, steam and a shitload of angst in this book! The first book was so good that honestly I was a bit nervous to see where this one would take us but the author did not disappoint one bit with the second book! The Secrets We Hide was every bit as amazing as I hoped it would be.
I love the four! Cassius, Weston, Zayde and Caiden are all fantastic characters that each on their own bring so much to the story but together dominate it. Winter is just amazing. She’s strong and sweet and has been through so much. I love the chemistry between Winter and Caiden but I also sort of love Zayde. I was hoping at a certain point of the book he kind on entered the mix in a certain way but alas some things just aren’t meant to be. Still the mysterious boy with a really dark side intrigues me. The cliffhanger at the end of this one almost killed me, and I can’t wait to read the next book!
I can’t help but be intrigued!
Honestly, despite having several problems with some of the characters actions and with the flow of the story, the overall plot is really interesting. There are twists I never saw coming and I think that’s why I’m still invested in this series. I wanna know what’s going to happen next.
The Secrets We Hide by Becca Steele is the second book in The Four series. This one continues from the first, after the cliffhanger in which Winter was taken and beaten. Because she’s been alone for all her life, Winter doesn’t really think about calling for backup or leaning on the The Four when she’s in trouble. Instead, she goes in blind to take care of business herself. This second book develops more of the plot, especially between Winter and Caiden. Caiden needs to learn to let go of his past and start trusting Winter, especially as his feelings for her deepen.
The overall mystery of Winter’s dad’s death and her mother’s involvement in Alstone Holdings continue to be revealed here. In this one, we find out that betrayal occurs very close to home, and there are very few people the guys and Winter can trust. They ramp up their surveillance, become even closer to each other (I love that the guys seem to open up more to Winter, especially Zayde when they helped Winter with her recovery, and Kinslee and Lena are brought into the group), and their personalities and characters are more developed. This second book also ends in a cliffhanger, and it seems that Winter will meet her attacker!
This picks up right where book one left off and goes full steam ahead in such away it’s impossible to stop reading it and I can’t wait to start the next one. Caiden and Winter are hotter then ever and she is more determined to learn the truth no matter the cost and Caiden wants to help but more then anything keep her safe. There’s a slew on twists and turns in this book that you won’t see coming
Winter Huntington never expected to find love let alone a new family when she made the move to attend Alstone College, but that is exactly what she found. She has also found out some things about her mother that leave her certain her mother is hiding things and that she very well could have killed her own father. As she and the boys close in on her mother and her shady associates things start to get a little more dangerous, and the list of people they can trust a little shorter.
It’s evident they are on the path of something ruthless, but who is behind all of it and what does it have to do with Winter?
The Lies We Tell rejoins us with heroine Winter and the boys that have taken her under their wings, and once again they find themselves surrounded by danger. Things are not what they seem, and they are certain that Winter’s mother is up to something big, but they have questions as to how deep this thing goes and who all is involved. The closer they get to piecing all the details together the more dangerous things get for them. I cannot wait to see how this all turns out, I have my suspicions, and I can’t wait to see if I am right. I am really loving this series, it’s a tad bit dark, super steamy, suspenseful and a wee bit dramatic too. It’s also very addictive, it didn’t take long at all to fall back into the story and become obsessed all over again!! I highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it’s bound to leave you thoroughly satisfied!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
This series continues to keep me completely on the edge of my seat. Caiden and Winter are back with The Four. There is some relationship drama to be worked out, but more pressing is still trying to determine what Winter’s mom is up to. The guys have a game plan to try to get more info. Now that all their pieces are in motion, maybe they can finally come up with more answers than questions. Continuing to watch Winter with this great group of guys makes me love each and every one of them. I am so happy they are all getting their own stories. For now, this one certainly has some big revelations for us, and I’m ready for book 3!
I received a free copy of The Secrets We Hide to review. This is book 2 of The Four and can not be read as a stand alone. I gave it a four because although it drew me in, I’m mean the cliffy of book one made book 2 a definite yes, it wasn’t not as astounding as book 1. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great second part to the first book but you just don’t get the answers yet and that so frustrating lol. Okay seriously book 2 is great and I loved the relationships and the hints of something more but again I’m left with more questions than answers. So of coarse…I’m on to book 3. I hope Becca Steele does not leave me hanging again with book 3. I am definitely hooked on this series!!!
This is day 2 of me being completely consumed by “The Four” world.
The Secrets We Hide picks up where The Lies We Tell left off. I can’t even count the number of times I held my breath as I turned a page. The more you read, the deeper you get pulled into this world.
The chemistry between Winter and Caiden has a whole new intensity when they begin to explore the emotional connection they share. The Four and Winter are still looking for answers but it seems like for every answer they find 10 more materialize.
The urgency of finding the information that Winter and Caiden need and the stress they carry because of the importance bleeds through the pages. My heart rate was a mess from the beginning to the end.
The connection that Winter has with Caiden is everything but the connection she shares with Weston, Cass, and Zayde are all special in their own ways.
These characters are digging for truths in a world full of secrets, lies, and havoc. A heart racing flow of mystery, suspense, secrets, wretched characters that you want to punch, characters you want to hug, and steam.
If you are going to read this, I would advise going into it without reading reviews that contain spoilers for the most enjoyable experience. I would also recommend planning to binge read because you will be craving answers as much as Caiden and Winter are.
I am hooked to this series and these characters. Another binge worthy read , literally devoured and finished this book in a matter of hours. The story picks from when it ended and more secret are unraveled and there is so much mystery and suspense. The relationship between Caiden and Winter grows stronger and Caiden his everything. The depth of his feelings for Winter and we get to know him more. I absolutely loved the other characters and the bond and relationship between Cade , West , Cass and Z is phenomenal. I am really enjoying the characters and can’t wait to read and know more about these characters. The story is absolutely captivating and a thrilling masterpiece. This one also ends on a nail biting cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read the last book in this series to see how the story unfolds. A must read.
I listened to this audiobook right when it came out and totally forgot to review it because I had such a bag book hangover hahaha. If you loved book 1, you are going to LOVE book 2 in this enemies to lovers, super mysterious and intriguing M/F romance! I have been listening to a ton of RH and I love this as a palate cleanser (and would totally recommend it to everyone!!). I fell in love with Winter from the very beginning and the Four totally grew on me in book 1, but they all were amazing in book 2. The adorable moments between Winter and Caiden and even Zayde with Winter (not in a sexual way, but more like a friend/older brother) were AMAZING!!! Like I was giggling and smiling and rewinding because it made my heart so happy I won’t give anything away, but dude, if you want a series you will be super invested in, that’s complete, and that has depth with character development and storyline (the twists and turns in book 2 I didnt see coming!!), you will FLOVE this series by Becca Steele. I cannot wait for more audiobooks from her (trying not to be too impatient, not gonna lie haha).
I think some of the narration improved but still am going to give the narration 4/5 stars. I think some of the “over the top” ness I complained about in book 1 was lessened so that was good. I still this Kelli is not as strong with her male characters, especially when they were angry (i.e. Caiden a lot of the time – definitely less than in book 1 though haha). Again, will be listening to both of them again, cannot wait for book 3!
Loved it, can’t wait for book 3!
The Secrets We Hide is the second book of The Four trilogy (not a standalone). The genre of this second book leans toward suspense. It ends with another cliffhanger and I’m very interested in seeing where the rest series goes.
I listened to the Audible version. Like the first book in the series, Kelli Tager and Gregory Salinas did an excellent job with their performances.

Audio review
There is so much going on in this second book of this exciting series. The mysteries deepen, the identities of the enemies of the Four and Winter, not yet clear. With the action heating up we are left breathless, anxiously needing book 3! Both Kelli Target and Gregory Salinas are talented narrators who support the forward momentum of the plot with great skill, bringing the characters to life and even though it’s clear they are not British themselves they are pretty darned good. I am now needing book 3 stat!
This is my first Becca Steele novel and I enjoyed it. The story was a college, stepbrother and enemies to lovers romance all rolled into one and the storyline was interesting and held my attention throughout. It was angsty steamy and full of drama. This is Caiden and Winter’s story. They are addictive but so are the rest of The Four. They are all well written characters, with amazing personalities and excellent chemistry among them. This novel ends in a cliff hanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next in this compelling story.
Kelli Tager and Gregory Salinas did an amazing job with the narration of this novel. Their voices were clear and understandable and they brought the story to life. I was highly entertained listening to this novel.
