From USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn comes a deliciously delightful romantic comedy centered in New York City about falling in love with your best friend’s sister. How do you date your best friend’s sister? That will bring the two of you closer.Step two: Go on date with lots of random women, proceed to get stupid drunk … women, proceed to get stupid drunk and talk about your best friend’s sister, thus gaining the courage to finally make a move.
Step three: Randomly show up at her apartment and confess your love. Women love that, right?
It all seemed so simple. A fool-proof three step process that will guarantee the love of you life to fall madly in love with you.
At least–that’s what I thought was going to happen. But my attempts to win over Julia Westin backfired in more ways than I can count. The thing about Julia? She’s smart–really smart–and her wicked gaze cuts through all the charm I’ve tried slinging her way. She’s not interested in games, my gifts, or my stories. OMG Meghan has done it again! She never ceases to amaze me as a reader. I love how she creates these worlds where the characters feel so real to you while you are reading that you get so caught up you can’t put the book down. This book had me in stitches because Julia and Bram were hilarious!
Bram is ready to settle down and he knows who he wants to settle down with. There is only one girl he wants and it is his best friends sister. He has loved her for over ten years and wants her and is willing to do anything to be with her. He even has a fool proof list that is going to help him get his girl but when he puts his list into action lets just say that Lordy Lordy Bram needs all the help he can get because he is going to need it in order to get his girl.
Julia I loved her because she is smart, witty, funny, and self sufficient and to add to all that she is no dummy when it comes to the shenanigans of Bram. She is not interested in his games, dates, or stories. She is in no mood to play games so she gives him a run for his money. If he really wants her then he is going to work harder than he is and he is going to have to be true to himself.
This is one hell of a story that had me holding my stomach because I laughed so hard. You need this book in your life to add some fun loving reading!
This was really good, and made me laugh quite a bit. I’m giving this 4 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
I don’t think there has been one book of Meghan’s that I’ve read so far that hasn’t made me laugh. That being said, she does have some books that are more serious/deep versus lighter/funny. This one fell more on the lighter/funny spectrum. I absolutely loved Bram! Who doesn’t love a man chasing after his dream girl, a man who isn’t afraid to put his heart out on the line for love? He’s going on my book boyfriend list for being such a sweetheart, even with his sometimes alpha male tendencies.
I did like Julia (Jules to Bram), but her being in her head too much sometimes drove me a little nuts. Maybe because she hit a little close to home for me? I’m the nerdy girl who can’t get out of her own head too. Anyways, I loved the connection between these main characters. We got to see how they met in college, and even some of their interactions back then, in between seeing their lives in the present day. They both had their (professional) lives together, and it made me slightly envious!
In addition to overall loving Bram and Julia, I also really liked Rath, Roark, Clarissa, and Linus. I’d love to see any, or all, of these characters in future books. I highly recommend you check out Meghan’s books if you love contemporary romance. She hasn’t disappointed me yet with her writing, and I doubt she ever will!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Here is how you date your best friend’s sister.
Step One: Pretend you want her to set you up with someone else. That will bring the two of you closer. Step Two: Go on dates with lots of random women, proceed to get stupid drunk and talk about your best friend’s sister, thus gaining the courage to finally make a move.

One of my favorite kinds of romances are my best friends sister or brother. I love them and I can not get enough of them. I will have to admit that Julia drove me absolutely insane. Maybe it was me but she drove me crazy. Like I wanted to throat punch her more times than I can count. I swear she took college classes in how to throw up roadblocks in every direction possible to this guy who is giving her his all. I just didn’t get why she did that. She will cause you to pull out the hard liquor if your a drinker. Lucky for me I am not or I would have been a mess trying to read this book. Now lets talk about Bram…..holy mother of pearl we all need a Bram in our lives. Oh my goodness he is absolutely amazing!!! I am so in love with him and Julia just needs to move on over and I will take her place. I don’t even think there are enough words to describe him. He is the most loving, loyal, kind-hearted, patient man ever!! Trust me when I say if Bram wants you, you jump into his arms, run find cupid and thank him for shooting his love arrow in your direction. Don’t be a Julia. However if we didn’t I guess it wouldn’t be much of a story so there is that to thank her for. With that said I really enjoyed this book. I read it in and day and barely put it down. If you love best friends anything romances then this one will be one that you will really like. And Hello BRAM!!!! Do not miss him.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of the book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
So… I have mixed feelings about The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister. Best friend’s sibling/sibling’s best friend is one of my all time favorite tropes so I was so very excited to read this. While I enjoyed Bram and Julia’s story, I had a hard time along the way. I loved that Bram was so intensely into Julia, and I really enjoyed the back and forth time jumps that helped to explain the progression of their relationship, but it also felt like Bram never really matured past the frat boy that he was in college (other than his utter devotion to Julia which I am all about). And the book felt really long, which was fine when it was fun, but it felt a bit draggy in places as well and I wanted to skim to get back to the good parts. Considering its length, we don’t get to know much about Bram or Julia other than their careers and a snippet in time while they were in college. Be prepared for a slow burn for the ages, but once they get down to doing the deed, it is supremely satisfying. I think my favorite part of the book is the relationship between Bram and Rath. I’m actually really hoping that we get a book about Rath and Roark. And Clarissa. And the steamy bits were REALLY good. 3 out of 5 wine glasses.
Lawd, The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister is a super fun, sexy AF romance!
The history between Bram and Julia is such an integral part of their story—and provides such insight into Bram and his level of patience and understanding of Julia and her personality and her needs.
Bram may be a crazy, rich, ex-frat boy on the surface, but he’s one hell of a man underneath. And Julia has lived the life of a quiet, shy intellect. She’s brilliant in business, but socially, she’s still that geeky girl from college.
On paper, Bram and Julia are polar opposites, but in their hearts they’re a match made in heaven.
Give me a sec, I’m still swooning over Bram. That man was relentless in his pursuit of Julia. He knew what he wanted in love and wasn’t afraid to go after it. Julia was the hesitant one—very stuck in her head and it took quite a bit of soul searching for her to finally take the chance on love.
I truly enjoyed my time with Bram and Julia. I’m hoping we get Roark and Rath’s stories too—they’re both die-hard bachelors that Bram would love to see find the love he’s found with Julia.
Oh, Meghan Quinn, you are a Queen! I am forever going to be a fan. You amaze me with every book you write.
Bram…oh Bram. I am unsure there has been a better hero in a book in a long time…He’s just definition of perfection. He’s such a good guy, not an asshole (at all), he’s sweet and kind and I want one just like him at my house. (Well, I have a good one and Bram could teach my hubby just a few things that would make him even better!).
Julia is a badass! She’s strong herself and doesn’t need any saving, but Bram sure does offer some sweetness and loyalty to Jules. He’s just an all around great guy and it takes just a little bit for Jules to figure it out but when they do FINALLY figure it out – watch out because not only is Meghan Quinn known for her rom-com’s she can write one HELL OF A SEX SCENE!
This book offers the funny that we have all come to love with Meghan Quinn books, characters who show flaws and are real and relatable, hot sexy interactions between two characters you will fall in love with. What more could you ask for in a book? Nothing! Fantastic rom-com Meghan Quinn!
I’ve always thought it was impossible for Meghan Quinn to write a male character I didn’t like, and she proves me right IN EVERY BOOK!
Bram Scott might just be my new favorite, which is really hard to say because MQ has written SO MANY great male characters. But this guy, he’s everything! Smart, wealthy, successful, and sophisticated, but underneath it all he’s a hot mess. And I love that! He’s thoughtful, sweet, witty, unbelievably caring, and undeniably sexy. He’s the perfect book boyfriend.
Julia is a tough shell to crack, and Bram knows that all too well. She’s quiet, reserved, and methodical in her approach to everything. She definitely has a shy personality but I love catching glimpses of her assertive side. And her addiction to tube socks drives Bram crazy.
I love this story, but then it’s really no surprise that I do. There’s so much chemistry between Bram and Julia but there’s also so many feels. These main characters are great and the supporting ones are amazing. The story is funny, sweet, sexy, feely, and just plain fantastic. A perfect book for MQ to start off the new year! For me, this one gets all the stars!
Meghan Quinn sure does know how to tell a story based on a lost bet with The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister. Set both in the present and in the past, Quinn tells the story of man on campus, Bram Scott and his best friends little sister, Julia.
From the moment Bram met Julia he knew he’d love her tube socks forever. Although she wasn’t too clued into his interest, Bram continued to fall deeper and deeper in love with Julia threw the years. Quinn built this story up by giving us past history while moving the story forward through current day as Bram once again decided to woo his BFF’s sister after losing their yearly bet.
Quinn delivers some pretty funny lines throughout as well as her signature characters in this one too! But somehow this one misses the mark on giving me that heart squeeze and belly gut laughter I’ve come to expect from Quinn. Don’t get me wrong, this book was really great. I just had a hard time connecting to their love affair. I just wanted a touch more angst. A few more will they, won’t they moments. Maybe for Julia to pine a little harder for Bram. After all his character was all that and a bag of chips. I just found Julia a little too reserved even if she was the quirky, nerdy female that I love that only Quinn creates.
While I have my misgivings about Julia, I can easily say you can’t help but falling head over heels for Bram Scott. He alone makes this novel well worth your read. The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister is yet another example as to why you need to get on the Boob Squeeze train and read all those funny, quirky reads by Quinn.
As usual, Meghan Quinn has won me over with a sweet, romantic, sexy as hell story. I loved the way this story really was so much about the guy going after the girl. I like how Bram knew he’d liked her from almost right when he first met her, or exactly from that time, but that he waited until he knew it was the right time. Well, except for the time he did ask her out, but she didn’t really take him seriously and turned him down. He’s doing almost everything perfectly this time around, and Julia still doesn’t quite get that he really does want her, just her, just the way she is. And then, even when it seems to be going okay, there is the issue with all the research and data she has to back up what types of people are compatible, and Bram’s dating profile for her company just proves her wrong. I also love how realistic I feel Julia’s brother behaves in this situation. The friendship between Bram and her brother and their other friend is fun as well. I’d love to see more books, with the friends getting their forevers as well.
I don’t know how Quinn does it, but she continues to write these perfect stories, and more than one a year! I feel like my reading expectations are spoiled with what she gives us every year, keeping me satisfied on laughs, love, and steamy bits!
Meghan Quinn has the romcom genre nailed down very well. Each book has it’s perfect blend of romance, humor and even a touch of angst and this book is no different.
The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister (yea, super long title) stars Bram and Julia. They’ve known each other since Bram and Rath became inseparable in college and Julia started attending the same college a few years later. However, don’t for a second this story is like any other in the “dating your best friend’s sibling.”
I really enjoyed how Meghan wrote this story. It takes place when they’re older and settled in their lives. Julia runs an amazing business and Bram is an extremely successful business owner.
Bram is one book boyfriend every reader will love- he’s impossible not to. Julia will be a tad tougher for readers to grab onto but she eventually wind you over.
I loved the interactions not just between Julia and Bram but also with Rath, Roark and Clarissa. The secondary characters added another layer to the story without taking anything away.
Overall, another hit for Meghan Quinn. I’m excited to see if writes any other books starring the other characters.
This book is a true gem among the stones. I loved it to pieces
Meghan Quinn has a way of adding sparkle to every single book she writes. This is exactly why she is my go to author. Whether I am looking for a book that will make me laugh or one that will pull at my heartstrings I always know I can find it within her novels. In her latest book she brought me feelings of joy and excitement. I loved reading about Bram’s journey to finding love with his best friends sister and the way he goes about the process. I say process because the woman he has been pining over since college is also a PHD holder and a dating expert. How cool is that? If you’re looking for a swoony, lighthearted, and humor filled novel this is a must read for your 2019 TBR. I think many readers are going to fall head over heels for Jules and Bram while also secretly hoping that a few secondary characters get their own story too.
I am going to leave my review short and sweet because I don’t want to ruin the plot for those who plan on reading it. In fact, the book can be easily loved by going in blind. It’s always fun to go into a book knowing nothing about it but falling in love anyway. I will say though that it is a fantastic novel of somewhat forbidden love (best friend’s sister) that has it’s sexy moments!
This is one of the funniest Rom Coms that I have read in a LONG TIME! I think I am in love with Bram! <3
Bram is basically writing a self help book with this story in which he is showing how he wants to get the girl- who just happens to be his best friend’s sister. It is taking a popular sub genre and changing it around completely. Bram knows he wants her and has since they were in College. He just has to figure out how to get Julia.
Julia is super SMART and has developed her own matchmaking program that is extremely successful. She is extremely analytical, so this makes sense that the data will help her match 2 people that belong together. She definitely has noticed Bram before, he has been BFFs with her brother since college (BTW I LOVE THEIR RELATIONSHIP) but never in her wildest dreams did she think that he could be into her.
This is SO freaking funny and downright hot. I don’t know how Meghan Quinn did it, but she did a fantastic job of combining humor, a great story, and heat into this great book.
5 outta 5 <3
READ THIS BOOK!!!
PS: I received this book for free in return of my honest opinion
Bram and Jules have known each other for years. Bram was her brother’s best friend from college. He was the life of the party that everyone would gravitate toward. Jules was the low key nerd that just wanted to stay focused on her school work and graduate with top notch grades. These two couldn’t be more opposite, yet the same if they tried.
Meghan Quinn is like the queen of romantic comedy and did not fail to deliver with this story. Bram try’s out Julia’s dating service after losing a bet with his two buddies, when really all he wants is Julia. Meanwhile, Julia is clueless to Bram’s wants. Bram jumped through so many hoops to get the girl and said girl was just not making it easy by any means. You do not want to miss out on this story. There’s so much more I want to say, but it’s all spoilers so you’ll have to read for yourself to get the full experience, believe me it’s really good.
A STRAIGHT UP WONDERFULLY ADORABLE ROMANTIC COMEDY THAT WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH OUT LOUD, MAKE YOU SMILE, AND MELT YOUR HEART INTO A PUDDLE OF MELTED CHOCOLATE!
Meghan Quinn delivered a full blast of sweet and sassy fun mixed with a heavy dose of feels and entertaining romance! It is blush-inducing and made me feel all gooey. It was entertaining and thoroughly and completely enjoyable and lets not forget, oh so lovable. I went into this book curious and eager and came out of it fully satisfied. I laughed, I sniffled, I sighed and fell in love. The characters are wicked awesome and the plot will yank you in and keep you entranced from start to finish. I can’t wait to see what else Miss Meghan Quinn brings us in 2019 because she is off to a spectacular start!

The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister was a sexy, hilarious, and entertaining standalone romantic comedy, and I would HIGHLY recommend it!
I loved the concept that Meghan Quinn created for the storyline; it was unique and incredibly entertaining, and I was hooked from beginning to end. Best friend’s sister and friends-to-lovers are two of my favorite romance tropes, and Ms. Quinn did a fantastic job with every aspect of Bram and Julia’s story. I laughed, smiled, and fanned myself so many times that I lost count, but I honestly loved every single moment and am sad it’s over. The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister has definitely been a top favorite from this author so far, and I won’t soon forget it.
The characters were my favorite part. Bram Scott and Julia Westin have hands down been my favorite characters that Meghan Quinn has written so far, and I fell head over heels in love with them and their story. Bram and Julia had the best personalities and smoking hot chemistry together, and I loved how their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading the book from both Bram and Julia’s point of view, and all of their playful, witty, and hilarious banter and interactions with each other. I also loved the secondary characters, and my fingers are crossed that a few of them get books of their own. Bram and Julia were a perfect match, even if it didn’t seem like it at first, and it was a true pleasure going on their journey with them. I absolutely loved watching their love story unfold, and was very happy with the conclusion.

4.5 “For love of tube socks” Stars
I am seriously in love with Bram Scott. There, I said it and I will fight a b!tch for him. He is sexy, swoony and still that loveable frat boy at heart. He is one of the most endearing characters I’ve read in a long time and I fell hard for him lol. Julia, though… her character drove me bonkers the majority of the time. On more than one occasion I wanted to reach into my iPad and strangle the girl. She is easily the dumbest smart girl ever. I will say in the end she did finally redeem herself, so I suppose she was worthy of Bram’s love ← totally not jealous at all lol.
Overall, The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister is classic RomCom from Meghan Quinn with so many laugh out loud moments, and wonderful secondary characters that I can’t wait to read more about next. I have to admit that Bram is the one that sealed the deal for me though. Any man that has bided his time over ten years for the right moment to make his move, plus all the little gestures he did to prove his love? Yep, totally had me melting on the spot.
Angela – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister is a great a read. It’s a drop everything is read now kind of book. I loved Bram. He’s sexy and cocky. He’s also a super sweet guy. Roarke and Rath are Bram’s friends. These three have a great friendship. I did get Roarke and Rath mixed up in the beginning a little bit because their names both start with R. Roarke is the Irish guy and Rath is Bram’s other guy half and Julia’s brother. Julia has her stuff together. She is focused and runs a successful match company. At first I thought she was going to be up tight up but she’s really a cool girl. Bram has a crush on her but in college she turned him down but this time he has a plan to win her over. I loved Bram and Julia, they are perfect for each other. This one has a mix of fun and romance and I absolutely loved it.
The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister (TSTDYBFS) has Bram and Julia for our leading characters and one element I adored here were that both characters were older 33 and 28 respectively, both intelligent, self made, successful people as individuals.
TSTDYBFS served up some heart melting moments mixed in with some hot sexy times too, Meghan always writes good chemistry with a great pay off that is worth waiting out the build up! There is something to be said for books where the guy is the one making the girl realise what she is missing, and Bram was the perfect character for this. As always there were plenty of secondary characters that leave you wanting to know more and Rath and Roark were those two for me. Rath amd Bram’s bromance was just something special and I love that guys can have that connection. As for Roark well he just brings the fun, in that annoying friend way – a little like Racer in Twisted Twosome, yet underneath you know there is a much deeper side to his story.
Once again Meghan has written a brilliant romance with loveable characters, an original premise and all the swoony, steamy romance you need with the classic MQ humour. A great way for anyone to kick off 2019!!
The secret to getting me to fall in love with a book? Tell me Meghan Quinn wrote it! Meghan can make me laugh one minute and having me sobbing the next…and I LOVE IT!!
I absolutely loved Bram Scott and his love for his best friend’s sister, Julia. I enjoyed the transition between the college years (when he met Julia) and now, going through the process to find his one true love. I love how there was a vulnerability shown in both Julia and Bram, which brought so much more to their characters. Their chemistry was absolutely incredible and knowing Bram’s feelings and watching Julia’s feelings grow? So much fun!
Meghan Quinn has once again delivered another delicious couple with The Secret to Dating My Best Friend’s Sister! It was original, cute, sexy and honestly, a perfect love story. I look forward to so much more in 2019!
This is a very good rom-com. But, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Meghan Quinn. Her books are always laugh out loud, and enjoyable.
Bram has a seriously major bro-mance with Julia’s older brother. He’s a great guy. He’s not what you would expect from someone of his status.
He’s waited ten years to make his move, well, second move. Now’s the right time though.
Julia over thinks everything.
I did love their chemistry.
We get flashbacks from college and their interactions back then.
There were a couple spots that felt a little drawn out to me. But I still really enjoyed this read.
