From USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn comes a deliciously delightful romantic comedy centered in New York City about falling in love with your best friend’s sister. How do you date your best friend’s sister? Easy. Step one: Pretend you want her to set you up with someone else. That will bring the two of you closer.Step two: Go on date with lots of random women, proceed to get stupid drunk … women, proceed to get stupid drunk and talk about your best friend’s sister, thus gaining the courage to finally make a move.
Step three: Randomly show up at her apartment and confess your love. Women love that, right?
It all seemed so simple. A fool-proof three step process that will guarantee the love of you life to fall madly in love with you.
At least–that’s what I thought was going to happen. But my attempts to win over Julia Westin backfired in more ways than I can count. The thing about Julia? She’s smart–really smart–and her wicked gaze cuts through all the charm I’ve tried slinging her way. She’s not interested in games, my gifts, or my stories. She might want me too; but she’s not giving in that easy…

The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister? More like the secret to making me fall head over heels completely in LOVE with Bram Scott and Julia Westin! The moment this story downloaded onto my kindle I couldn’t wait to dive in because who doesn’t love a good romantic comedy, especially one written by the phenomenally talented Meghan Quinn? The answer of course is no one because this author definitely knows her way around a ROMCOM. Seriously, this woman right here is beyond amazing and I can say with confidence that I am never disappointed when I pick up one of her books!
This was a sweet, charming, and hilariously funny romantic comedy that had me rolling on the floor and holding my stomach kind of laughing as I devoured page after page of this extraordinary story! These two adorable characters wholeheartedly captivated my heart. I mean they were so perfectly matched that you can’t help but root for them every step of the way. Although I did love both characters, I have to admit that Bram captured my heart just a little bit more because of his cocky attitude. This man had my heart swooning in overdrive that I almost wanted to knock Julia out and take her place…I mean wouldn’t that be amazing if it was possible!
This story definitely had my undivided attention until the very end and if you have read a story by Meghan Quinn before, then you know her beautiful storytelling is known to do that! Let me just say you won’t regret picking up this one that is for sure! Seriously…make sure to one-click it like RIGHT NOW!!!
Friends-to-lovers, loving the sibling of your best friend, etc. is one of my favorite troupes, and in “The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister,” Bram has been in love with Julia, or Jules as he affectionately Ely calls her, since college. His best friend is her older brother, Rath, and I have to say, I loved their relationship even more!
They both were well educated having attended Yale, with Julia continuing on to earn her doctorate. I liked how the chapters would revert and show snippets of their past, and how Bram was honest with her about how he felt and why he decided to wait to pursue her again. Other than Bram’s excessive cursing (not dirty talk), I thought he made the perfect hero. He knew what he wanted and went after it, was generous and kind to others, and truly cherished Jules and showed her repeatedly how serious he was about them having a committed relationship, even after admitting that he had “over 100 one-night stands!”
They get to spend time together when he decides to sign up as a candidate for the dating service that she provides through her own successful company. This was all planned on his part as his main goal was for them to just spend time together with the hope that she, too, would see him as more than just her brother’s annoying friend.
Julia was a bit rigid in her thinking and analyzing, but that was just part of her personality. There would be no fun in reading if every book featured people who were perfect. We are all made up of quirks and flaws, and in this book, Bram loved her just the way she was. They both helped each other learn and grow, both individually, and as a couple. Even though they knew each other for ten years, they really didn’t spend time alone together. Reading their journey, all of their conversations, and how they let down their guard down and opened up to one another was a wonderful experience.
Bram showed he was vulnerable and less than perfect, while at the same time was romantic, considerate, respectful, and so endearing. He was not only hot and handsome as well as an amazing lover (which he often bragged about), he was confident and successful, yet very humble.
Julia was a bit stubborn and was frustrating at times, because the perfect man was pouring his heart out to her and it took her a while to catch up and just follow her heart. I was routing for these two the entire time and was so happy with the ending. The writing in this book was wonderful and made me feel for each and every character. As usual, Megan Quinn had me laughing on many occasions, shouting a few times, and swooning the rest.
I was hoping that Rath and Roark would each get their own story next, but the preview of “That Second Chance” featuring a new character, Griffin, was included at the end of this book. I’d also like to see Clarissa, Julia’s loyal friend, find love!
Loved this book! Characters were great!
Brothers best friend books are my kryptonight I absolutely love them and am always reading one and let me tell you this one is my top favorite it’s completely hooked me and was different than the other I’ve read. This is my first book by this author and definitely won’t be my last. She had me laughing so hard and I couldn’t put this down until I finished. I fell completely in love with the characters in this story and was sad to see that it was over. I want more of these two so much more like I could read them over and over again. I know for sure this will definitely be a re-read book for me. If you need funny, sweet and romance go one click this book ASAP.
Absolutely loved Bram and Jules! But 10 years is a bit long to hold on to a crush. Meghan made the path to HEA hilariously funny and worth every angst-y minute!
What a mouthful, I think its the longest title in a book I have ever read, lol… And my first book for 2019 🙂
Meghan Quinn was one of the authors I discovered in 2018 and an author that I fell in love with. Her books are funny, sweet and is really one of those books you can love and be frustrated with at the same time. And this was one of those books
Bram has been in love with his best friends sister for a long time, but he was finally done waiting and has put his plan in motion. But his plan is not as foolproof as he thought it would be. For starters wanting the girl you in love with to hook you up with other girls just to spend time her might not be the right way to go. And secondly this girl is stubborn as all hell (hence the frustration part of the book)
From the start of this book till the end I seriously wanted to shake her. It’s like she was living in her head and not paying attention to anything around her and her life is defined in colours!! Really, WAKE UP!!
Bram was exactly what you would want in a book boyfriend. Sweet, successful, attractive, and down to earth and he would do anything for you, Hello!
This story was definitely a good start to 2019 for me and Meghan Quinn definitely a all time One-click author. I suggest if you haven’t read this author, start with this one 🙂
Bram Scott has everything he wants. Or almost everything. Handsome, billionaire, smart, one of the youngest and most successful, popular, well-connected real estate investors and a hit among women. His fame comes from college time, where he was president of the most famous brotherhood and so the king of the campus. The popular boy became a businessman. But something is missing in his life. Or rather someone. Julia is his Achilles heel, his only weakness, and the woman he’s been in love with for years. Too bad she has no idea how he feels. And worse, that she is his best friend’s younger sister.
Julia can be classified as the typical nerd. Clumsy, antisocial, always buried in books. Fascinated by human behavior, she has always been more of an observer of life than a protagonist. The girl who attended college parties wearing socks opened a relationship company, forming couples based on a series of tests, questionnaires and finally the projection of a color. Yes, that’s right, a color. Julia categorizes people based on color.
When the opportunity arises, Bram purposely loses a bet with his friends, and as punishment, must sign up as a client in Julia’s company. To his friends, a funny joke. For Bram, the chance to approach the woman he is passionate about and make her see him. Bram will show that few things shocks him, and when he decides to go after something, it does not matter what path to go if the goal is achieved.
The book is funny, sweet and romantic. The questionnaire that Bram fills in has no nexus, the questions are surreal. I laughed a lot with that of the monkey, and with each page I waited for the next “pearl”.
Bram provokes sighs, but do not expect a good guy in the traditional sense. He is the opposite. With his sometimes vulgar language, his unbridled sincerity and irresistible charm, he is exactly what Julia needs.
Julia irritated me a little. I understand that her work is her passion, but insisting that colors do not match when her heart clearly says otherwise was too much. For a person who makes a living joining couples, she does not understand anything about love.
Bram did not play fair, but he used all the weapons he had at his disposal to get what he wanted. His assistant was a good character, and the inner joke about milkshake gave a tone of camaraderie between those two.
The rest of the characters, Bram’s friends, despite appearing little, arouse interest. Mainly Roark.
A great romantic comedy, light, relaxed, with touches of comedy and an unforgettable guy.

“I have a stupid-as-shit crush on my best friend’s sister. I know the exact moment it happened too. She was unlike any girl I had ever met. Strong-willed, obnoxious at times with her intelligence, cunning, and never too scared to back down. She intrigued me, held my attention, made me want to know what was spinning around in that beautiful head of hers. I had to find out. That night changed everything.”
Playful, sweet, swoony, sexy, and filled with humor and heart The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister is a magnetic combination of all the best elements of romantic comedies. This is Meghan Quinn writing at her best!
4.5 stars
It is not secret that I adore all things Meghan Quinn. Her latest title is no exception. She continues to deliver a solid story that one can easily fall into and have no reason to escape.
She mixes steam and humor in such a fantastic way that you feel these are people you know. All of her stories typically include something that I relate to.
So pop on your favorites tube socks and let Bram and Jules color their way into your heart.
Okay, I started this one because I was looking for something to lighten my mood. What I got was a romantic ex-frat boy totally in love with the nerd he met in college, Julia, his best friend’s sister. Fast forward ten years, and Bram is finally ready to reveal his feelings. Add in best friends, big brother, Rath, and Roark, the frat brother, and so commences the time he has been waiting for, time to date his best friend’s sister. With total romance, full of love, laughter, nerves, and tears, the two fight their way to a long anticipated HEA. I vote everyone give this one a try. I loved it!
Romcoms are always hit or miss for me. Either I love them – generally because the humor is smart and there is plenty of emotional connection to the characters – or I hate them because the humor is too on the nose, too brash, too obvious for me. Add to that my inability to connect with the characters in a meaningful way and The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister was a dud.
I knew within the first few chapters that this book wasn’t for me, but I had hoped I would find something to love as I pushed through. I had a hard time feeling the connection between Julia and Bram for most of the book. There were some scenes where the chemistry was strong, and I thought the book was turning the corner, but then we’d quickly go back to the same often cringe-worthy interactions.
What I think really soured me on this book was the disconnect between the maturity level of the characters and their supposed success in their fields. I had a hard time reconciling the fact that a bunch of overgrown frat boys were really capable of running the empires they’d amassed. That immaturity bled into the way Bram dealt with his feeling toward Julia and overall left me with an unpleasant impression of who he was.
All that being said, I could see why someone who prefers romcoms would enjoy this book. The conflict is minimal, the humor is obvious, and the interaction between the boys was fun. My distaste for The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister was definitely a ME issue, and I will own that. I have great respect for Meghan Quinn’s more serious works, but I’m quickly finding her romcoms aren’t for me. I will definitely continue reading some of her work but will be more selective of checking out the subgenre.
There hasn’t been one of Meghan Quinn’s books I haven’t loved. This books characters are smart, sweet, and funny. You won’t be disappointed with Bram and Julia!
Meghan just became my favorite RomCom author with this book.
Bram is a fantastic a-hole and I’d love to be friends with Julia. I can see myself in her (except for her being very intelligent). If you’re looking for a smart and funny book with a great story-line, this is the book you want to read!
Meghan Quinn books just make me happy. I know they are going to be fun, spirited and full of life. Her books are just a replica of who she is as a person.
Ok, can we talk about the characters first? Oh my! I loved the hero and heroine in this book. The supporting cast was just as much fun, and contributed so much to the personality of the main characters.
Bram. He wants Julia. But Julia is his best friend’s tube sock wearing, extremely intelligent sister. She’s possibly bordering on the edge of being a nerdy dork. He has wanted her for the last ten years . . . even after she shot him down the first time he asked for a date. In the ten years that have passed he has grown from being a party frat boy to a self-made millionaire. Through all the growth he still wants Julia.
Julia. Bram has always been her brother’s best friend. He’s always been attentive, protective and extremely funny. But does she want to date him? Nope, not in the least bit. Does she believe in love? Yes, all as a scientific function. It all relies on what “color” your profile says you are.
And then the plan devises and the fun begins. Julia’s scientific notions and Bram’s heart felt feelings embark these two on a ride that is filled with fun, laughter, and disbelief.
The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister started off the year with all the joy you would want a book to bring. I laughed. I snorted. I chuckled and then I laughed some more as I watch these two navigate the road to love. This was such a sweet romantic comedy and I am so awaiting more from the incomparable Meghan Quinn.
I’m an unapologetic Meghan Quinn fangirl. I’m not even going to lie about that. Her books are the total rom com package for me. Her latest, The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister is no exception. It was a delightfully fun and sexy read with a slow burn friends first/best friend’s sister book. I laughed, swooned and fell in love with the characters. Bram, especially.
If I’m being totally honest, The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister got off to a little bit of a slow start for me. Of course, I’m a mood reader and it might’ve been more of a case of “it’s not you, it’s me.” Even though it did take a little bit of time for the story to hit its stride, it didn’t stop me from enjoying it. I do love a good slow burn and Bram and Julia’s romanced delivered just that. I thought this book had a cute set up — the competitive former manwhore throwing a bet to give him an opportunity for a second chance with his best friend’s sister. The sister he crushed on for years. Did I mention the sister in question owns a dating service? Naturally, hilarity ensues.
This book was fun and fairly light, with just enough angst to make it realistic. I lost track of the number of times I laughed out loud. Though the reformed manwhore isn’t always my favorite hero, I loved how Bram was all in for Julia. Even when she was having second thoughts. There were some great secondary characters in this story and I hope some of the friends get books of their own, too. I’m totally here for it.
Favorite Quotes:
I want us, Jules. Together. I’m not talking just one date. I. Want. Us.
I think there comes a time in a girl’s life when she’s immersed in a situation so awkward, so uncomfortable, so nerve-racking that the only reaction she can have is to stand there stunned while her nipples invert themselves back into her body. That’s where I am right now.
If I were a cartoon, I would have red hearts constantly floating over my head, letting everyone know around me that I’m a damn fool who’s lost his heart to his best friend’s sister.
Meghan’s writing style is easy to read, easy to fall in love with, and so hard to say goodbye to! This story is no exception to that style! After years of ignoring “that pull” Bram decides to go for what he wants. Julia can’t withstand the man, but it is so much fun watching her try. Get ready to laugh out loud and fall head over heels for Bram and Julia.

In my experience so far (even though I haven’t yet read all of her books), you can’t go wrong with a Meghan Quinn novel. This one was no exception.
I am a lover of friends to lovers, and best friends brother or sister romance novels, so this one straight away was going to catch my eye. The concept of this storyline was great too – friends since college, because the hero is the heroine’s older brothers best friend, they have always been in each others lives.
Our heroine Julia has her own successful dating business and our hero has his own successful real estate investment company. A bet with his friends and Bram is exactly where he wants to be, spending more time with Julia and getting her to see him in a new light and finally make his move with her.
This was a whole lot of fun. Bram was a great hero and Julia was fab as well. Total opposites in some ways, these two are perfect for each other, and Jules just needs that push from Bram to let go a bit and see him for who he is now, and not just the playboy frat boy image she carries with her since their college days.
I loved all the concepts thrown together in this novel, and this was a fun and easy read. It was also just what I needed because I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately, feeling the end of year burnout. Definitely recommend.
Meghan Quinn is one of my favorite authors and The Secret to Dating Your Best Friends Sister, is a perfect romance book!
Bram- he’s the perfect romantic. Loves Jules from afar until he knows she’s ready to for a relationship or he thinks she’s ready!!! I loved how their relationship grows and how the learn about each other and themselves.
I love Meghan Quinn’s brain- the adventure she takes us on a readers is amazing. She develops her characters and you just fall in love with their stories. That exactly what she did in this book!
Meghan Quinn is one of my go to authors when I need a funny and lighthearted read. And this book is exactly that. Even if it has a little bit of heartbreak. To be fair though, the plot was definitely not what I expected. It was so much better. Ultimately, it is a beautiful and romantic story about finding your soulmate and showing them that you are meant for each other. No matter what science or everyone else says.
Bram and Julia are to very intriguing and well developed characters that got into my heart from the very start. I loved getting to know them through the story and I was rooting for them from the very start. I definitely enjoyed the background chapters from their time in college and that helped a lot in really understanding the characters and their behaviour and feelings. And to be honest Bram trying to seduce Julia, created some quite funny situations and quite a few scorching hot ones 😀 So be prepared.
Ultimately, this is a relaxing and funny read, perfect for those after holiday weeks when you just want to take it slow 😉 As for me, I really hope that Meghan Quinn is going to release Rath and Roark’s stories. I am sure they are going to be a blast as well 😀
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The queen of romantic comedy’s has done it again !!!
What a great start to the year for Meghan with this friends-to-lovers read that had all the things we have come to expect from her books.
Bram Scott – hot as hell and your typical playboy, the frat boy that had never quite grown up. With his best friend Rath Westin and other friend Roark in tow, all hugely successful and wealthy in their own rights, maybe it it time for him to look to the future and all he sees in that future is Rath’s little sister, Julia.
Julia Westin – socially awkward, she is your typical nerdy wall flower with a high IQ and no interest in men. Running her own successfully dating agency, unfortunately her love life is not on the same par and is severely lacking. When her brothers friend Bram walks into her office, requesting her agencies help to find love she is initially sceptical – and rightly she should be as the only person he wants is Julia
Bram whilst still displaying those obnoxious playboy tendencies at times also had me swooning on more than one occasion. Those moments where he opened his heart to Julia and the thoughtful gifts and time he spent trying to get her to admit her feelings for him were just perfect – he was head over heels for her and he wasn’t scared to show it.
Julia was very closed off and had me pulling out my hair at times and when she finally realised she felt the same way for Bram, her reluctantness to show him they were both on the same page made me want to kick her up the backside but the conclusion was all worth it.
We had some fab secondary characters in Rath and Roark and also Julia’s friend, Clarissa which helped to make this another fab read from Meghan
